SUPER SIMPLE Third Function Valve Instalation for Grapple and Snow Plow
Vložit
- čas přidán 18. 12. 2020
- This is a very simple third function valve installation on my Branson tractor. The valve is being installed so that we can use the tractor to operate our new grapple and snowplow. The third function kit uses a diverter valve to supply power to the grapple and snowplow.

NEW HERE?
Thanks for stopping by our off grid cabin build channel. We recently moved from the city with all of its conveniences to the middle of the forest near Sandpoint, Idaho. On our channel, we are sharing our journey from grid life to an off-grid homesteading life. We are starting from scratch on bare land. I hope you will come and join us on this journey as we build our off grid cabin and establish our homestead. You can learn more about our story here • Why we Choose to Live ...

You have a wonderful family! It’s so cool to have a wife that supports you like yours does. And be beautiful also!!
The CLAW!! lol Man that thing is sweet! Definitely going to be super helpful on your homestead! :)
Magnetic dish!! What a good simple idea! So simple that I’d never thought of it in over 50 years of working on cars, the house, mowers, fishing reels, appliances etc. Just ordered one.
Martin good job you are becoming a True Northener! A man of many task.I just finished burning three huge brush piles here in Manitoba Canada.
What I did with the snow. On them etc,I took a leaf blower and really laid the wind to the flames it worked like a charm.Created lots of big flame very quickly.
Good luck!!
For that bonfire at the end, a leaf blower really helps it get started. If you have trouble getting it going I'd recomend using one and see if it helps. Thanks for the instructions!
Those claws are so nice to move around branches and logs. Really love them.
The grapple is gonna be so nice! Also jealous of the plow. The grapple though 👌
I was sent over by some other people on CZcams that are in Idaho in your same state and they visited your house so I started to subscribe to your channel now you have some interesting topics that I like off-grid living is very useful....
I think this is the coordinates to his house I think 48.43363509790965, -116.5216807410974
Good job Martin, a little ingenuity always helps
Once more I admire you for attacking unfamiliar device/work without any intimidation.
Happy holidays!
Merry Christmas to all your family, be safe and enjoy some time off!!
I have the same Branson 3520h tractor and also have the grapple attachment. My valve for the opening and closing of the grapples is mounted to the cross beam on the loader, it is out of the way and puts the quick disconnects right there in an easy to get to location. I love my Branson too, best 35hp tractors, heaviest tractor on the market for that size tractor...
I hope every member of the family learns to drive the tractor!
I agree with the others, the grapple will be your favorite thing!
i did the same job 2 years ago. i also added a foot switch, you can get it cheap at hydraulics surplus ,it is real quality and cheap . if they dont have them anymore i have an xtra i will give you. rich
Just bought a 3620H. Can't wait for it to arrive
You did a great job continue prayers for u and family GOD bless
"Feliz Navidad y un Año Nuevo de dicha y prosperidad" les deseo desde LIMA_PERU.
Oh, hey Zach from Millennial Farmer, wait, this is Off Grid Living. 😂 Love them both!
Little tractor therapy going on. Always wanted to put another valve on my backhoe for a thumb. Might have to do it next summer. :)
Nice job. New toys are always awesome.
Smart man and a good job. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Staf safe and keep smiling.
Nice job!! Have to rely on yourself !! Stay safe!!
I might have missed it in the vid, but what brand 3rd function kit did you buy?
Apply some thin rubber around the pipes that the loose bracket is connected to and then tighten up and that should make it more secure. You may have some in you kit.
Get you some good quality electrical tape of difference colors to mark your hyd. lines quick conects. Match them up to make hook up quicker for each attachment.
😄😄😄you funny martin ,no kidding when in doubt have the boss read the instructions, that would be the wife that's what I do
🏴 *nice video mart!*
God Bless you and Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas 🎅 family!
I hope ur wiring is ok as you are standing on it and the pedal doesn’t rub
If I were safety Sally I might ask why you drive the tractor with the rollover bar folded back?
Nice video. Wondered how third function installed. I’m surprised the setup does not fit in tighter. I figured incorrectly that the third function would simply involve adding a line to the factory controller. Had no idea it required a whole new controller.
You are like Mac Gyver👍😁
Merry Christmas
Cool tool!
If you need a hack for the bracket on your tractor so you don't have to weld it, take some rubber and put it in between the bracket and hose or go the the dollar store and get a pool noodle and cut to fit. Just a couple back yard hacks we do, hopefully this helps.
Hi guys..better to long than to short...Dave from West Virginia..
Amen!
Using the proper hydraulic wrenches about $25 Rather than a Cresent wrench
.you are going to really need a snowplow..lol...stay safe and warm..
Nice job Marty! You are almost as awesome as Jules! 😂
FELIZ NAVIDAD PARA TIDA LA FAMILIA🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Merry Christmas 🎄
Thats just the way I mit have done it. Make sure the lines dont pull at any angle. Slow, full up down left right.
Looking at the equipment you have now and thinking about watching the videos of last winter. you come a long way since then. you could have installed all of the equipment under a roof if you wanted.
true but we haven't sealed the floor and I didn't want to get oil all over it.
The fire went out I bnb guess it too cold or too much snow Merry Christmas Happy New year's God Bless
Well done
Chenel pak martin kok nggak pernah upload video.
Great video thanks
🇳🇱NL.A very happy Christmas and a prosperous 2021 with greetings from the Netherlands Hans. Here 12 degrees Celsius and again no white Christmas.☃️☃️🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄👍👍👍👍🍀❤️
Good job, Marty! :D
Im from calgary alberta and I was going to join one of his meet ups but since covid im not sure if he is still doing meetups plus the borders are closed right now but I would love to meet the family.
What brand of 3rd function is that
I need one for my branson 3110i 11gpm
Can't find the link for the diverter valve u just shown
That wobbly bracket would definitely be a problem for my 4815 Ch with grapple. Working in land clearing would cause that bracket to bend or break the hydraulic lines that control the loader functions if they caught on a vine/branch or other debris while I am "in the woods". I ordered my tractor with the 3frd fcn valve and either the distribution center or the dealer set mine up and it seems to be well placed without a wobbly bracket. My 3rd fcn valve is mounted on the front of the loader. While I have worried about it being susceptible to damage, I watch what is going on and so far that has not been an issue. Mine is close to the loader frame and there's not much sticking out to get caught on things... except the hoses. Hope this info helps anyone interested in adding one or considering buying a tractor with it installed. Thanks for posting the video...
Hugs from Oklahoma
Please let us know what kit you purchased!
Get some weight on the back. You will feel more secure lifting.
Keep the grapple lower to the ground when ur moving
I have a Branson 4570 HST and it creeps after you let off the Foward pedal or reverse pedal. Anybody know anything about that I can't figure out how to adjust it out
Good job dude :)
Is that the same tractor you has earlier? You will love the grapple.
Merry Christmas from South Florida. Good job getting everything connected and working. I agree with you on that bracket. I fear it will damage the two pipes it is holding on to. When you swung the plow to and fro, it seemed to yank on that bracket - yikes! Also, the hydraulic lines on the side are screaming for a branch/stump to catch a hose. I wonder if you could make a screen mesh or something. Maybe Mike @ Laid Back Living could help fabricate something for you. Cheers
Awesome 👏 😀👍
Very good
You need to get quick disconnect fittings rated for hyd use,not air hose fittings.
check your Harbor Frieght catalogs if you get them in the mail or newspaper circulars for the magnetic bowls...they're in there for free when you buy something all the time
what brand did you buy? How much was it? do they make one that will also hook up a hydraulic 3 point cylinder?
Thank you for putting this out. What brand was the kit and what was the price?
You should check out Red poppy ranch, their in Idaho as well
A are you doing 1st am I seeing your video I would you get that grapple how much was it thank you Ron
Another great video guys, but changing the subject, how are you finding your solar system and its performance during winter? are you having to use a generator to help keep the batteries charged? Or are you reducing your electrical needs?
So what you have is a diverter valve. Could you not have plumbed it into the main line and just use the buttons to control that function? You have to use the lever and press the button as opposed to just pressing the button.
I would consider cleaning up the hose mess on the side of the tractor, as it is very exposed to anything that can harm them, and hoses are expensive and time consuming to fix. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
Great video, I have the same tractor, and this is just what I needed. Thanks (and dang, Julie is so hot!)
Selamat natal 🎄🎄🎄
Belom
Just wondering, did you get a magnetic bowl? Because as I was watching this I started saying "he needs a magnetic bowl on that fender there" and got a chuckle out of you when you then said that you could really use one! 😆. If you didn't get one let me know I'll ship you one!
cantik - power
Think you have to get som snowchain for the tractor. Tractor tire is useless with out chains...
So you've had that setup on your tractor for a while now. Have you had any trouble with all those hydraulic lines / fittings sticking out right behind the front tire? I've bent both of the steps on my Branson tractor from running into stumps or trees, and I'm pretty sure I'd have ripped those hydraulic lines off in short order. But great job of hooking up your third-function. I'm researching for adding a front-mount brush hog.
👍👍👍👍👍🚜🚜🚜🚜 very good.
Glad you like it
Martin! I've been watching for a while, but not since the beginning. Have you discussed what your back ground is and I missed it? Just curious as to your skillset before doing all of this work and how did you learn it if you don't have a mechanical/construction background?
Tire chains...yep!!!
Martin, great job. Did I miss a link or address for the diverter kit you bought? I need one and want to DIY it. Thank you!! Blessings from Texas!
What valve did you use?
Pripun kabare Pak Martin
No you never said anything about a snow plow.. But thats a plus. Yes grapple comes in very handy at all time
Now we just need a good snow.
the "eyeball engineer" in me doesn't like where the diverter is placed. It looks too vulnerable to having damage from driving by a tree that wouldn't have bothered anything before the diverter was installed.
And, PLEASE, travel with the loader as low as practical. The higher it is, the more likely you are to roll the tractor.
i never take the grappler off. i just pick up the bucket with it and us it that way.
6:42 ohhhh man, how many tubes, to much🤪
looks like your a professional shade tree mechanic.Need some tire chains
Tyre chains are pretty much essential in those icy conditions. Having the ROPS in place would also be a good idea, start sliding on the ice/snow and you never know what might happen.
Happy New Year from this side of the "pond".
" Early Christmas presents Marty?, good job on doing it right lots of tubes, the boys from Goonzsquad have those magnet trays for they're screws, couldnt you do the job inside the new garage? not closed i but a bit warmer. Next week Christmas, you taking a video break?, If so Happy Christmas to you all & a prosperous New Year, from the UK. 5 pm in the evening.
Yes I could have but we haven't sealed the floor and I didn't want to get oil all over it.
@@MartinJohnsonOffGridLiving good thinking Marty.
Hobo freight has free coupons for magnetic bowls every few months
What is the horse power on the tractor?
50 /50 shot
It has been two YEARS ,since l "landed" on this site; must of been "listed" under "comedys & spagetti ". The "spagetti" ( hoses) could of been "Cleaned UP" & ( eleavated)
,by mounting the DIVERTER Valve WAY DOWN on the crossover tube like 99%of Others are MOUNTED.
A "True third function" gets mounted on the loader-tower; ALL those "spaghetti" hydraulic lines are just WAY TOO MUCH!
Best wishes with all your endeavours.
Where did you get it
Idaho implements .

If you want to see a pro with about anything excavator related, take a look at either letsdig19 or the DirtMonkey channels. Great update guys!
don't forget the tire chains/
Those magnetic bowls are cheap at harbor freight
