  • It was my first time watching Eurovision, and I decided to share my thoughts and opinions. My favorite performer didn't win, but I still enjoyed it. I found some very good songs that I'll add up to my playlist

The jury has to vote on:
    1. Vocals
    2. Composition and production
    3. Staging, artistic value, interpretation of the theme of the song
    4. General impression, innovation
    1. Nemo had the best vocal technique. You may not like the voice but the way Nemo changes effortlessly between head and chest voice is impressive. Also the different styles were all perfect. Nemo hit every note.
    2. Listen to the three refrains (I, I went to hell ....). All three are different and they grow in intensity. Also the strophes: 1. Musical, 2. Rap, 3. Opera. But always with the same elements. The most obvious one was this "oooh.... ooooh" and the end with "this story is my tru-u-uth". The composition was really something very special. To musically make three parts in three styles with the same musical elements is really exceptional. The production was top.
    4. Artistic presentation. The staging represented the song. At the beginning, when Nemo sings about the struggle this spinning top is constantly throwing Nemo up and down. There is no balance. And then, when Nemo sings about finding paradise and beeing happy it's Nemo that controls the spinning top. Plus: singing while jumping and running and climbing is very difficult. Without other images, without dancers or pyrotechnics. Nemo did all with body and facial expressions and the voice.
    4. The song is unique, the staging is unique.
Even if you do not like the song - and I do not - I can't deny that this was way above everyone else.

Thank you for the reaction. Here an explanation why there was booing with Israel:
The song was called "October Rain" and it's about the attacks of Hamas on October 7th. Eurovision did not accept it because the song can't be political propaganda and it clearly was only one part of the conflict. You can sing about peace in general or acceptance of all people but not about an on-going conflict.
Russia has been disqualified and Israel not. The main sponsor "Moroccan Oil" is from Israel.
Then they changed the title and the words. But Eden Golan said in multiple interviews that the song for her is still about Israel and she very much looks forward to join the military and fight against Palestinians. So the argument, that she doesn't represent Israeli politics is not valuable.
Yes, it's sad that innocent people in Israel died. But it's also sad, that so many innocent Palestinian die.
If Eurovision shouldn't be political it has to be for everyone. You cannot give a platform for propaganda. Many people voted for Israel because they were sympathizing with the victims and that is clearly an opinion changing moment in this conflict.
