What an amazing adventure! I kept laughing at Jill's lemon water bottle jewelry! I am constantly amazed at how spunky and energetic she is on these long grueling hikes! I would be whining and grumbling like a toddler!😂
We were both drained by the end of it! Not sure Jills jewellery jugs were the best way of keeping us hydrated! we do tend to drink from them a little more if it means not getting them out of the bag. We tried those hydration systems once that have a tube which runs from your backpack. not only were they nearly impossible to get juice to your mouth but I believe they are not very hygienic as very difficult to clean properly. We are on the lookout for something better!
@@GENerationXplorers yes, we used to have a Camelback water pack as well, and I felt the same way! Impossible to clean properly!

It looked very challenging the views back down to the sea were amazing. I was watching Jill from behind the cushion as I really don't like heights. You both really worked hard to bring this to us. thank you so much Matt, it really is testament to how much we come alive in the mountains there that Jill is full of song. Second time on this mountain and both times she has hidden her summit views from us! We did polish a full bottle of limoncello off that night watching the unpolluted night sky and listening to a bear in the car off distance, definitely one of our favourite places. ive never tried it on ice, what a superb and timely suggestion.. Still have some alcohol purchases to do for NYE! All the best for New Year and excited to share in your adventures in 2024 🎉

Wow!! Those opening shots looked mighty risky...fun but risky. Great to read that you can hire cars for under £20 a day, great to be able to be see around the beautiful country via car, a great idea. What great terrain as you made your way up the summit, some beaut views of Bellagio too, so cool to see the picture from 4 years to the same spot, so cute. Can deffo see why Rifugio menaggio is so popular, those views are worth every moment. Jill... that scared me the little slip. What a lovely drive, with amazing scenery and of course the great Cypress trees! You can never beat a bench with a view! I'm hoping you achieve this climb in the daylight! What amazing views you got on your assent, even with the mist. Pleased you managed to find some shady parts along the way. Good job there were chains and stuff to help you, but still a bit treacherous! Well done on reaching the summit. Shame about the clouds and crowds. A great find the beer with a view. I remember fondly as a child visiting York by car and there were rows of Cypress trees on the approach, id never seen them anywhere else so was always fascinated by them and happy to be soon arriving at York! I love seeing them around Lake Como, they take such pride over their lake side gardens, lovely to see. What a beautiful film and such amazing views. Good to see Nick offering a helping hand to poor struggling Jill. To think this is a second visit for you both, wish I had the finance and aptitude to do such amazing walks. Yes you’re certainly living the dream. Hats off to you both. To be honest the Via Travater (yes I know that’s the wrong spelling but I’m a failed secondary modern student), looked pretty tame to me. Try the extreme one at Honiston Slate mine. However, you both did really well throughout and to film as well was very impressive. Personally I’d be more than happy with several beers in the mountain retreat. Well done to you both. FIVE STAR FILM ⭐️⭐️👍⭐️⭐️
Thank you Mike, I do fancy the Xtreme one at Honiston, been on our bucket list for a while, hopefully in 2024 we will make it a reality! on both visits to this mountain the views have escaped us so we will return at some point to try it again. Id also like to spend the day at the Rifugio taking in the views and enjoying the refreshments, much more preferable than doing the same at the lake side. there were some hairy bits on the climb but every time I tried to film Jill on them some JBP would bounce up behind her making the entire stretch look easy!

Now this is looking lovely! 3 euros to park a way up the mountain, sounds like a bargain to us!! Those signs are useful, they have those in Switzerland where we went years ago to where Rach used to work. Misty but still stunning views. Unchained Melody…very good 😂. Looks a tadge warm there. That cafe at the top looks great, even we could manage a 58 min walk, just about. We’d have probably called it a day there 😂. That walk is not looking like our idea of fun now…we wouldn’t trust ourselves to not fall down the cliff!! Saying that though, we’re glad you did it cos it looks beautiful! Nice bit of mountain swooping Jill. If you have to use your hands, that’s just crazy!!!! Rach is getting vertigo just watching you with that chain!!! That last bit looks mad, but fair play….don’t forget you have to do it all again in reverse! Amazing that you made it to the cross, amazing! Ah, picnic, now we’re talking, but now the walk down, crikey! Beer at the cafe, oh yes!!! 🍻🍻. Alcohol at 4000 and something feet??…yeah, of corse you should. Yey for the car not being at the bottom of the mountain. Well done both, quite an achievement, loved that…limoncello, mmmmmm. Nice one both, fab as always x
Ah thank you guys 🙏 amazing comment! the last time we did the hike we didn’t have change for the parking so we had no choice but to hike an additional 1000 feet, whilst I’m usually against paying for parking I’d happily pay that €3 to save that ascent/descent. id love to spend the day at that Rifugio. the views from there id never tire of. Limoncello was our drink of choice on this holiday, sharing a bottle on the terrace every evening with no light pollution watching the stars and listening to the bear growling in the distance just never gets old. its a place we’ve visited a few times and we are already missing! looking forward to sharing in your adventures in 2024 🎉🎉

Finally get to watch this now family have left ! This looked brilliant guys, liked seeing the drive in as well :) The photos from 4 years ago were interesting to see and it very atmospheric with the mist. Can see why you were overwhelmed there, the views as you scrambled up were fantastic. So nice when you had your picnic that the mist started to clear and at places as high as this it's always harder to get down and like Jill said that's when you need to take extra care when you're tired. The place was lovely where you had the drink and views, that was so good.

I’m really not used to that type of heat, probably the hottest I’ve been since visiting your neck of the woods! I can recall it being in the 40s on the coast there! This mountain has hid her views twice from me now Leon, I shall keep returning until I see them!

Hopefully we will make that a reality, it’s the highest thing on our list so all being well it should happen! Great bit of climbing that had a bit of everything. Some airy bits on route to the top but I find coming down much harder as you say. Cool to have a half way stop that serves refreshments and can't grumble at 3 euros for a beer. Pity the views weren't super clear but clear enough for some awesome views . A day to remember for sure. Glad you didn't slip as it sounded like that wouldn't be good. I bet you both slept well that night 👍Paul
Thank you Paul 🙏 we hate descending, really does a number on the knees. our legs were like jelly on the way down. All in all we would say that this is the third hardest mountain we have ever climbed mostly because of the exposure, there is no allowance for error, it’s a really popular mountain too so every time you pass someone it’s a really tough negotiation! we had poor views on our first visit to the mountain too, which means we’ve got a reason to do it again! looking forward to your adventures in 2024, happy new year! 👍

As you mentioned some of the places are bonkers scetchy, but the views at are worth it (for the experienced walkers 😳).

its a real mental challenge more than physical I feel. its a good two hours each way from the Rifugio to the Summit (the sign says one hour but im not sure who is doing it in that time even if they had the mountain to themselves), no resting spots and you are constantly using your hands just to stay gripped to the mountain. we must have passed 100 people on our ascent, each one a real negotiation on not falling off the mountain. Wouldn't you know it twice now this mountain has hidden her views from me.. I shall be back at some point to try again, third time the charm? thank you so much Dave and Sue, hope you have a wonderful New Year! looking forward to your adventures next year. the chest harness made it really hard work as it puts the camera several inches in front of your chest, instead of leaning into the rock face to aid climbing I had to lean backwards to protect the camera! I need to invest in a head mount for the future I think! 👍

Happy New Year! You two certainly enjoy a challenge, climbing to the top having to scramble and use chains and cables looked seriously scarey, I think I'll continue to enjoy just gazing up at the mountain from the lake!

Hi Jill & Nick What a fabulous video to finish the year on. (Well I’m expecting it’s your last ? 🤔) I can’t make up my mind as to whether I think this looks a brilliant hike & I’d love to do it or whether it’s way too difficult & scary for me and I wouldn’t get past the Refugio 😂 It really does look amazing and I’m well impressed with your skills. The vía Ferrata section was incredibly exposed so nerves of steel required but that said, the remainder of the hike looked tough going too, and in that heat, wow. What an achievement reaching the summit 😍 …. but then getting down even harder 🤨 Only beer 🍺 and no bears 🐻 on this one … phew. Loved the classic “Lets spin you round” to see the car … fantastic 😂

Hi Christine, well within your capabilities this one, it’s just the prolonged exposure, it’s a good two hours each way with no stopping or crossing places and it really does take its mental toll especially with how busy it is. Must have passed a 100 people on the ascent and each person is a real negotiation as there is barely enough room for yourself. Sadly no bears on this one although I’m pretty sure this was the night that our sat star watching on the terrace sipping Limoncello was very rudely interrupted by a very loud bear that sounded so close we thought he was in the garden! We both leapt into action got half dressed out of our pj’s and had an abundance of energy to try and find him! We were unsuccessful but did record his growls, the neighbourhood dogs growling at him as he scuppered away back up the mountain and the local cats all in disarray! Loved our meet up, in fact without that wonderful push you gave us after covid I doubt this day or any other mountain day would have been possible. So we certainly have you to thank for that! We both would be honoured if you would meet us again, look forward to making that a reality in 2024! All our love to you both, Nick and Jill xx

amazing climb you guys, awesome views from up there especially since it cleared up a bit. You are right about it being harder to go down than up on your knees and legs. I agree. Plus, a lot of this looked loose and dicey. The alcohol at over 4,000 feet is sure questionable but it looked like such an amazing place. LOL. Happy New Year to you!
