When you set out to make something look bad to begin with, without reading the instructions.

I pulled over 100 dollars in quarters in one sports complex and park in a week with that harbor freight metal detector you just have to know how to use it

Before you judge it you need to learn how to use it, my Harbour Freight works great.

I have this same detector. You need to take it off of all metal mode and put it on disc mode at a quarter sensitivity

Looks like you initially had the HF unit on "All Metal" mode, which is going to ignore the Discriminator/Tone knob setting, and pick up every nail, every staple, etc.
When you switched to discriminator mode, it looks like you turned the knob to the left, which basically desensitizes the discriminator, and again picks up on any piece of metal that may be laying out there.

I got one just this past Christmas found a lot of stuff so far. Nothing too wild. But it does work good. I'm still new to this so. I didn't want to spend almost $200 on a metal detector if I didn't like doing it. So I spent about $70 on this one. And I'm digging it

I have both detectors. Also have 3rd a old radioshack metal detector that works like a charm 💎.

Don’t confuse gold jewelry with gold nuggets. One is a metal, one is a mineral. To find gold, the mineral, you need a specialty machine . Minelab is probably the best for mining tailings. Notable gold detectors : Whites GMT, Tesoro Lobo supertraq.

Whether it be a gold chain or a golden nugget, you don't need one of those $3000 machines you mentioned to find it, you can do just fine with a $150 bounty hunter. Believe me I know I'm from Colorado.

That Butter you called Stupid is Your "Pinpointer" button....No there's nothing stupid about them at all....just center it and stick a Pop Cycle stick in Dead Center...it's actually very handy to have a Built in Pinpointer 👍🏼

I'd never buy that analog one from Harbor Freight because it looks like it's from the 70's or 80's.

I have the same detector and mine doesn't act like that.. yours is broken, or faulty... mine works perfect.. mine only beeps when I come across metals

Both are good machines. The Harbor Freight has adequate electronics, but the build quality is crap, which is why I installed everything into a new box on a quality s-rod.
You had the HF in all metal in an obvious nail field of a yard. I have no doubt that any Bounty Hunter machine is superior to the HF, however you did not accurately represent the HF.

i had to reinforce mine by shooting epoxy into the handle screw holes
, screw the scews back in after epoxying behind the shaft to the machine then let it all cure. stronger now.

The HF golden rule. If you need a drill for a project, the HF version is good. If you use a drill as a part of your everyday work load, the HF will come up short and disappoint. Metal detector?? Is it fair to apply the HF golden rule to metal detectors?? If you go out twice a year, HF is good. If you go out every chance you have? Will the HF metal detector hold up? False readings will make you not want to swing your machine anymore.

I'm just barely getting started in this hobby. I might be off base to tell you that only the very best metal detectors will pick up gold. For that price I think Harbor Freight and the Chinese are full of.......poop.

    • @user-ml7ty3mp1o
      @user-ml7ty3mp1o Před 2 lety

Not true. There are lower end detectors that will pick up gold jewelry. Mainly because there are other base metals in the piece. You have to know how to set up your detector and be willing to dig some pull tabs. Now, gold in mineral form, requires specialized detectors.
