    Great video, thanks china. I'm the other end of the country, down in Devon. Just starting again after decades out of the water. I must say that the lack of flesh eating sharks here is a welcome change from Cape Town! :D

    You're a huge rob allen fan. Can't say i blame you. We have a lot of the same gear. I would also recommend break away rigs for bigger game. And stiffer fins for harsher currents.

    an extra reel in a separate belt is good thing to have even if you have a reel mounted on your speargun could be really helpful like if you shoot a big fish with a 75cm or in case of emergency i wear mine with a stainless hook that i hook the to buckle of my weightbelt ( marseillaise ) so i just have to drop my belt on the bottom and get back to the surface easily without making to much efforts
    90cm is standard size in europe some people underestimate this lenght you can catch all kind of fishes of all sizes many big fishes were shot with standard 90cm
    it would be nice if they could make float line transparent and not orange fluo that can make fishes detect your presence especially using wait technique you have got some nice rob allen spearguns i wish they did not sell carbone graphite for the price of gold
    thanks for sharing :)

    if you are into wait technique at the end of your orange float line add 10 to 15 m of strong 250 pounds transparent monofilament with metal cramps it will not get entangled on rocks at the bottom the float line will keep it up at all time

    • @StaunchIndustries
      @StaunchIndustries  Před 8 lety +3

      Hello Vikki. I would say never leave the house with out a good mask & snorkel. Nothing worse then getting stuck in paradise with out a good mask and fins... if your really into your freediving & traveling to nice places, skip the cheap flippers and invest in a good pair of solid freediving fins..(Check out cressi
      gara 2000 hf fins they are bullet proof) . Then a good wetsuit depending on where your traveling, if its cold you'll need a wetsuit for sure, and if its hot you might need a skin suit to protect against sun burn and jelly stings. Good luck

    Hi Me again since we last talked i bought a £1200 kayak and have 2 pole spears on order , sold me 10 year old spear gun i used in turkey , the apnea thing is not going to work out till next year at least as its a return drive of over 500 miles to any location they will be using for the rest of the year , and i tried but failed to gather enough people to have a course put on for us in south wales. any set up videos on how to spearfish from a kayak, do i anchor it or use it like one of those spearfishing floats (like the one against the wall in this video) thanks again lyn.

    • @StaunchIndustries
      @StaunchIndustries  Před 8 lety +1

      Lyn, you got to be careful with the kayaks... Ive been diving with a kayak this year and its never as simply as you think. It can get very complicated with so much more gear. I would say you definitely need a dive buddy & an anchor. I will make a video and post it asap!

    What about Beuchat (Mundial?) speargun? You didn’t said anything about it.

    • @StaunchIndustries
      @StaunchIndustries  Před 3 lety +1

      10years + later, I still have it and still use it as a back up gun.. I've had to replace the rubbers on it a couple of times and it's still working fine. In the crazy world of spearfishing with bigger & more flashier equipment, the Mundial is still a great option for beginners. Simple, cheap & does a good job.

    • @mdstefan86
      @mdstefan86 Před 3 lety

      @@StaunchIndustries Thanks for info. I plan to start spearfising this summer in Aegean see and i have doubts choosing between a Beuchat Mundial 70 or 90cm rail gun with open head.

    • @StaunchIndustries
      @StaunchIndustries  Před 3 lety

      @@mdstefan86 Honestly, both would work fine... if i was you I would start small , see how you get on and then upgrade. The more you dive, the better your "luck" will be.. ;) Just be patient & clam in the water. Enjoy the diving part and don't go chasing after the fish, let them come to you.- took me a while to learn that tip. ;)

    How many sharks have you seen since you started

    • @StaunchIndustries

      Occupational hazard some might say, but I don't like to think to much about it. Lucky we don't see a lot of them up here in Scotland, although we did get buzzed by a Port beagle earlier this year.. Seeing sharks is always a good sign that the environment is in good health, but remember to always respect the locals. ;)
