Calabar High's 4x400-metre relay team turned in an awesome performance in the final event of the 2018 Corporate Area Championships, the second regional meet of the Digicel Grand Prix Series, to shatter the meet record at the National Stadium on Friday.
The quartet of Anthony Carpenter, Christopher Taylor, Shemar Chambers and Malik James-King clocked an eye-popping 3 minutes 05.04 seconds to erase their previous meet record of 3 minutes 14:75 seconds set in 2017.
The time also represents the fastest ever recorded by a Jamaican High school team and is also a world high school record.
Jamaica College set the previous Jamaican high school record 21 years ago at the Mutual Life Game at the National Stadium. The quartet of Rudolph Mighty, Edward Clarke, Carl McPherson and Rupert Eldemire clocked 3 minutes 06.56 seconds then to set the record.
With Kingston College (KC) failing to show for the final, Calabar High were unchallenged throughout and won by a huge gap. Excelsior finished in second place in 3 minutes 16.28 seconds, while Papine ended third in 3 minutes 22.49 seconds. - Sport

Awesome running by all the 4 Jamaicans.. with no competition at all.. not a single person other than the 4 seemed to be of their standards.. very great...
And later this year they broke their own record at penn relays with a time of 3:03.79 just insane coming from a group of high school kids
Well I wouldn't say HS when there are 19 and 20 year old on the team

I don’t think you understand that 3:05 4x400 in high school is beyond NCAA. These boys are have a good chance in competing in the Olympics. If they keep this up and I’m sure they will.

Wow that was very impressive. Would love to see them run with other competition but there is NO OTHER High School team that can run anywhere close to them!!! They need to run against the collegians.

Watched this 3 times so far.. Not looking forward to champs because these guys going to be tired.. but by penns we might see something closer to 3 minutes flat. Maybe with KC, JC and some other big teams added to the mix giving some clallenge...
Jason Lewis it's hard to go faster at Champs because of the workload and it's hard to go faster at PENN relay because it's close to end of season plus the weather condition at PENN is too cold plus the track set up different than the national stadium....Looks like cbar could win by 100 point at champs this year.
I agree somewhat but if they are conditioned and rested adequately for Penns the least I'm looking forward to is equally that stunning time. And as it relates to champs cbar for the win.. I say by at least 50 points. Just watch Gibson too and everyone coming to the party (champs) JC won the class 1 4*100 .. That team look good too.. champs gonna be interesting
