Black artists don't pass the torch... it's only one Tina, Michael, Prince, James, and etc. "There will never be another..." is what most "black" music artists/fans say. Hardly is anyone ever saying we passed on the torch, this person is just like this person, and etc. We just respect the past artist, as the artist, and when someone is mimicking the artist that just what it is...mimicking. Tears are falling down my face tonight as I listen to this song after a longer time and remember Tina. As much as I love "Private Dancer", "Typical Male", "Two People", "Thunderdome" ,"Tonight", "I Don´t Wanna Fight", "When The Heartache Is Over" or "Nutbush City Limits"... it is "Whatever You Want" that I would call my all time favourite Tina song.
It´s strange and sad and feels like losing a relative when you´ve known and liked someone ever since your earliest days. And for me only the second time since passing of David Bowie that I have felt such sadness. Tina Turner was one of her kind and simply amazing.🌹♥

I remember seeing this video back in 1996 and after her "return" to the big screen on the GoldenEye soundtrack I thought this was her most memorable visual after the horses in Simply the Best! The production sounds similar to GoldenEye in the start. Great track. Good that she wasn't doing low budget nonsense in the later stages of her career.

I remember the thrill of discovering this song when it was released in in 1996. I could hear that musically this song had taken Tina somewhere fresh, vocally , yet it was a place she occupied with total authority. And then the video did all that and more with the physicality of her performance. Tina's canon is phenomenal but it would be less without this song. Arthur Baker, Fred Zarr and Taylor Dane, gave Tina a more complex composition and Trevor Horn's direction took Tina's vocal authority to new heights. Love it. Brava Tina! Bravo Tutti! XX

This should have been a huge hit, and WILDEST DREAM a best seller... It's such a shame that US radio basically slept on Ms. Tina after BREAK EVERY RULE. Sure, you might still hear a handful of her PRIVATE DANCER singles and 1989's "The Best" but she's got some top notch songs in her catalog. They should have gotten more exposure in her lifetime. I hope they can be appreciated now. Regardless, her legacy will endure 💋
