Maher specifically but Rogan too misses the point a bit - they are judging Trump and Biden based upon their personalities. Politics should never be based on anything other than action/abilities. Trump is the ultimate 'marmite' politician/person - people either love or loathe him. But this is based purely upon his personality. But few could argue than during Trump's Presidency 2016 - 2020 that the US was in a much better place economically, safety and influence of world issues etc, etc than now. That's because of his actions. The US is most definitely in a worse position now both at home and abroad due to Biden's actions. These are facts. Interpretations of personalities slant voter opinion.
