I've always had immense respect for CR7, if only because his skills aren't based solely on speed, strength, or agility. You look at him and you see that how high he jumps, how hard he shoots, how he (unconventionally) takes free kicks - it's all the result of many, many hours of training and self-improvement. Over time, it became fashionable to praise Messi, almost as a counter to CR7. Messi is the GOAT, etc. I won't pick who is greater; with Ronaldo, I definitely see the hundreds, thousands of hours needed to reach this level, whereas with Messi, I see more natural talent. However, if someone easily ranks Messi above CR7, they are probably too young to remember what Cristiano did at Man Utd. They should watch "Cristiano Ronaldo made Premier League look easy" - just a taste. The way he was unstoppable, how every shot turned into a goal, how he dribbled past opponents as if he were playing with children, and all this while being so young himself. That was the most enjoyable CR7 on the pitch for me, but after moving to Real, he became a perfect goal-scoring machine.
Sometimes he's criticized for showboating a bit on the pitch. Okay, but that's a minor detail. Really, let someone become a top footballer in the world, one of the most famous names globally, and still remain as humble and grounded as CR7 (judging by interviews). I will be greatly impressed! Let him do something for the crowd occasionally on the pitch. To me, it's obvious that besides hard work, he also wants to have a bit of satisfaction.

Haters who call him penaldo need to shut up. Penalties are difficult, especially against a good goalkeeper. Scoring penalties in your backyard is easy, but scoring it in front of 50,000 people watching you and the rest of the world? Heck no.
The problem is more so that he is not the quality player he once was and needs to let the youth take over. He hasn’t missed a penalty in a year because he’s playing in one of the lowest rated leagues in the world.
