I love to see how others do their budget and plan their finance - being on top of things like this is so important, especially these days ♥️ as always thank you for this upload babe!
I do too, I love seeing how others do it which is why I love to share! There's so many RIGHT ways to do finances, we all do it abit different and I think it's so important to share (for those who feel comfortable doing it of course)! Glad you enjoyed xo
I love your videos, I just turned 21 and although I can’t budget right now, Your monthly resets with the goals have helped me so much!
My favorite videos! I look forward to them every month. My finances have improved dramatically since following you and your budgeting techniques!!
Aw this makes me so happy and so proud of you!! ♥️
New subbie here. Wow... your style is awesome. Can't wait to binge your content. I'm a sucker for a good money routine. Budgeting, eliminating debt...LOVE IT ALL!
Yay welcome♥️♥️
I love that quote you recently said - something about always saving but always investing! Just bought a house and it was a punch to the gut watching my account empty after saving so much for the down payment. BUT, it was an investment and we’ll always be saving to invest. such a good mindset!
So true! I really needed to hear that and it really changed my mindset with finances and saving/investing!
I enjoy all of your content, but these are admittedly my favorite videos of yours! When I get off work and you post one, it 100% inspires me to begin my own planning. I make myself a fresh mug of coffee, whip out my budget, and get to work. Perfect timing ✨
AW I love that!!!
Perfect timing for me to do my August routine with you! Thank you for continuing to put out great content and I hope you're doing better

Love the way you laid out your spreadsheet. Very fun to watch! :)
I can't take credit for the layout, I bought it because I also loved the way it was laid out!

I love your monthly money routine videos YOURE my favorite youtuber to go to for this! (I love ALL your videos but these help me so much)
Yay! Thank you so much!!
I love these videos! Do you have a video where you talk about how you changed your mindset regarding money and budgeting? I grew up with a single mom and I saw how she struggled and it definitely made me have a negative mindset about money and I want to change that, but I don’t know where to start.
Some of my previous chatty money update videos have talked about my money mindset!
Just think of it as a plan. Once you start, you'll be amazed what you can accomplish!
OMG this is such a great video! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. Love your passion!
I literally love talking about money so much, glad that shines through in these videos 🥹🤍
The green bubly is so cute omg 💚
Right 🥹💚
New sub ! Love that u share ur actual youtube and work income
Thank you!!!
Omg Tysm for this video
I love these so much. I bought a new car in June (which I knew I could afford) and afterwards I sat back and went, where does my money even go every month? I found your channel after a Google search and have been so inspired! I downloaded the spreadsheet you use - everything. It was beyond eye opening how much money I blow every month on dumb stuff and how little I save. I cannot thank you enough for these videos, it really has helped me immensely in taking control over my dollars.
This makes me smile so much, thank you!! I'm so proud of you!!
In 4min watching your video, 250 more views! Youre growing your Channel fast bella 😍 so excited for your Treat yourself day 😍
It's honestly crazy, I'm so grateful for all the growth!!
I feel like this is so helpful to people to see different ways to do things. Personally I am the type that likes to track everything in detail and find YNAB to be the easiest way to manage that. But I also use it more for tracking and not necessarily budgeting on a micro level because as long as I have the "spending money" for something I just shift money to the necessary categories based on spending.
And with that since I do allocate every dollar I have a specific category for my checking account buffer that I keep $500 in (and I use a completely separate checking account to pay my mortgage and other living expenses that I have a separate buffer for) plus I budget a full month ahead so I always have plenty in my accounts for any payments that might end up hitting before a paycheck does.
That's what I think is so cool about budgetting/money/finances is we all do it SO differently and what works for one person might not work for another! Thank you so much for sharing your methods- I think it's so interesting to see others budget and how they do it!!
jeeeej always love these!
YAY 🥰
Hey!! Carter I really really really enjoyed watching monthly money routine so so much you inspired me so so much and I wish you reach 60K Subscribers very very soon!😭✨💖

love YOU
Great video I really love the visualization on your budget dashboard. Would you be open to sharing the template?
Its linked in the video description!
The book Worry Free Money is super eye opening, especially for folks with a money scarcity mentality or money trauma honestly.
I've heard great things, it's on my TBR!
@@CarterSullivan yes! It is a complete mindshift, I loved it so much I bought it twice haha
Thank you for all of the amazing content, its been awesome watching your channel grow since last year! ❤️ I was wondering, if you spend $$ on something that you have a sinking fund for, do you include that in your expenses tracker? For example if you have a sinking fund for vacation and you take one in August, would you include the vacation spending in your August expenses tracker? I always struggle with where to include sinking fund spending!
I think this is just up to the person- some would say it counts in your budget but I don't personally. With vacations/renovations etc I have a seperate detailed tracker to track those expenses/make sure we're staying on budget. If you were to add it to your budget I would do it like this: let's say you're taking a vacation in August and have $2,000 for it. I would put $2,000 for vacation sinking fund in your income then put "vacation $2000" in your expenses so that it equals out!
Does Aura work in Canada? I thought it was USA only?
Hello, can you explain the part about paying off the credit cards each month? I got a little confused! I love all the tips you provide about budgeting!
How did you locate a PRN job?
I'm curious which part you want me to go into more detail about! I just pay my credit cards off in full every month (since I only put my expenses on them like groceries/gas/misc spending). I don't work a PRN job I'm considered a 0.6 part timer (since I work 3 days a week). I've been at my current hospital for almost 5 years and it's pretty common to have part time/PRN positions in healthcare so that's how I got my current job! I just applied for it internally!
Great tips
Love this, Carter. X
YAY so glad!!
What program are you using to help you budget? Thanks in advance. Also, what would you knock out first, debt, emergency fund, savings, investments? I'm having a very difficult time budgeting and as a result feel less productive. Thank you
I don't give finance advice sorry, I leave that to financial experts! I only share MY financial journey. THe spreadsheet I use is linked in the video description!
So informative! Thank you for sharing! I’m definitely going to incorporate some of these tips into my budgeting routine. How do you keep track of how much money you have left in a category (i.e. coffee, treating myself)? Do you use a separate tracker for that? Or use cash?
Keep in mind I am I simply budget to get an overview of where my money is going! But there is an expense tracker on the right hand side of the spreadsheet which will automatically add it up per category! You can check out my previous budget/monthly reset videos to see that part of the spreadsheet! Therefore if I budge $40 for coffee and only spend $30, that $10 is just chilling in my chequings!
@@CarterSullivan Ahh okay, that makes sense! Thank you again! :)
Hello from New York! I would love to know what you use for a savings account for your emergency fund or other funds. Also, how do you factor it into your budget when you USE money from one of the savings funds?
I live in Canada so my accounts will be different than yours and have different names! Let's say I use money from my savings account to pay for a new desk... I would put the amount I used in the income category then the expense. So "Savings account withdrawal $300" in the income part and then "new desk $300" in expenses so that it all evens out!
I know you like the spreadsheet but are you able to review it, I have bought so many but this one seems ideal! Thank you!!
Honestly its the only one I've ever stuck with and I've tried out tons!!
@@CarterSullivan oh thank you for the reply!! I’m going to buy it! Subbing, I hadn’t realized I wasn’t
What is the video you talk about your bank account and credit cards you have, I been watching your videos recently and so happy because budgeting and saving lately has been hard so thank you so much 💗
It's linked in the video description now!!
I really enjoy your videos. I’m a college student and your videos really help me prepare to become wise with my finances after I graduate! If you don’t mind me asking how do you track your purchases from day to day? Do you write them down or just look at your bank account and track from there? ( in regards to like a random purchase at target or a cheeseburger at McDonald’s).
I talked about this pretty in depth in the video! Everyone will track their expenses differently, some weekly/biweekly/monthly. The spreadsheet has a spot to track your purchases. So at the end of every month I go through my credit card statement and write down all my expenses in the expense tracker on the spreadsheet!
@@CarterSullivan thank you so much for the clarification!! love your videos!
Hi Carter! I just found your you tube page and I'm very excited in seeing some of your videos. I have my checking account for myself and a joint for bills. Do you have a process for your joint account?
Hi Lissett! We don't use a joint account for bills, we just send each other half of the bills every month!
@@CarterSullivan thank you for your response! I understand now.
Hi, please do a tutorial on how you set your excel up like this
The spreadsheet is linked below for purchase!
@@CarterSullivan Thank you!
Hi! Love your calculator! Is it downloaded? Or in the phone?
Just my iPhone calculator!
Do you have any tips for a teen with a part time job? I'm trying to figure out how to spend/save smartly 😅
You could do it 2 ways- put a set amount of $ aside every time you get paid (ex. $50 or something) or if your pay checks fluctuate put aside a percentage like 30%!
Will I be able to use your spreadsheet with mac?
Yes I have a Mac and use the spreadsheet just fine!
That spreadsheet ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Can we get it anywhere?
Its always linked in the video description!
Is your home renovations funds coming from you and Matt? Or did you have it as part of the house loan? Want to buy a house soon and just wondering the logistics 🙂
We personally did not take out any loans for doing home renovations, we just didn't want to take on any additional debt so that's why it's taken us so long to do them! We are only doing renovations once we have the money to fund them. And yes we are splitting the renovations 50/50 since that's what works for us. I'm not sure what the logistics are for getting loans for renovations assuming you could use a line of credit. Not taking on additional debt for renovations was a personal choice however and I know it won't be the same for everyone!
Do you lease your car? I was wondering if car payments should be treated as debt or monthly bills.
I own my car! I think it depends on the person! I only put items in the debt category if it's an additional payment (example. If I put an extra $500 on my car loan)! But others will do it differently☺️
I’ve made a huge goal in my journals to have no loans, good credit score, and no bills.
Love this for you!!
Thank you so much for your candidness and making these videos! I’m so glad to see you feeling better (I also got covid for my birthday, what a way to spend a week 😣). I love this spreadsheet, but am a bit confused about the sinking funds categories. When it’s time to use the sinking fund for a planned expense, how do you key that into the spreadsheet?
I think this is just up to the person- some would say it counts in your budget but I don't personally. With vacations/renovations etc I have a seperate detailed tracker to track those expenses/make sure we're staying on budget. If you were to add it to your budget I would do it like this: let's say you're taking a vacation in August and have $2,000 for it. I would put $2,000 for vacation sinking fund in your income then put "vacation $2000" in your expenses so that it equals out!
@@CarterSullivan I was torn between that and/or some kind of a subtraction from the sinking funds so the tracker page balances too. Thanks for the quick reply, I’ll keep tweaking!
What is Adsense for?
Adsense is CZcams payments! For the ads on your video
Love your videos, but I noticed that when you mention “every dollar” you always talk about going to zero. But really I think it just means “giving every dollar a job,” so you could give your $1500 the job of “cushion” or “rollover.”
I think that’s a common misconception that people have that you drain your account to zero each month or only have $20 left.
I think there are 2 types of people who "every dollar" - those who flush it out to zero each month and allocate every dollar or those who simply allocate every dollar as you said! But I totally agree, there are many ways to look at it!!
Im finally early🫶🏻🥰 I love these reset videos😃
Aw that makes me so happy, thanks for watching!!! ❤️
