This song is keenly not so chaotic as many entries this year and I am pleased about that. I hope the rest of the song has a good melody. I hope that there will be great vocals and great staging as standing out is essential and appealing to a wide audience. I wish for the UK to be in with a good chance of winning.

Please tell me you’re kidding? Olly is a nice guy no disputing that but as for a great Eurovision song this is as bad as they come. It will be bottom 3 material won’t even do well enough to get onto the LHS of the score board. Yeah no yeah no yeah no definitely bottom 3 tripe as normal. Since 1997 (last time we won) we have had one good song which under normal circumstances would have walked it. Sam Ryder was always up against it against a box standard song from the Ukraine. Only reason to watch the comp on Saturday night is so Sweden can tip its hat off to ABBA. Oh and watch the UK get nil points again

As an American, I was unfamiliar with this artist until now, but I must say his vocal style bears a striking resemblance to that of Michael Jackson. Although I lack knowledge about Eurovision, I believe he is already a legend in terms of artistic expression. Despite my personal disinterest in this genre of music, I find him utterly captivating. Not going to guess success until I hear unmanipulated vocals. Many countries have fallen to that pitfall, UK multiple times. Both good and bad singers fall victim. If you don't consider the rules when choosing the song, you will be in trouble come competition day. Many competitors have already performed their song with choreography and live vocals to gain a spot. I hope he is practicing hard.

Was a little worried when he was announced as the representative as his voice is quite one dimensional and not particularly versatile, and regrettably I haven't heard anything yet to change my mind.
There is a lot of vocal compression in the studio cut, which is not something he's going to be able to rely on in a live performance, so there's going to be a noticeable difference in quality between the two - just like with what happened regarding Mae Muller last year.
I'm not sure if the rules have changed, but autotune was the only vocal 'effect' not allowed at Eurovision last year. Eldrine (2011) is a great example of compression being used extensively during a live final performance at Eurovision. You can't correct pitch, but unless they have changed the rules recently, I believe you can do tonal compression.
@@jackward9901 - You're correct, though the difference in quality is still very noticeable (at least for me personally). Perhaps not everyone will spot the difference but I do think there will be quite a lot who can and do.
I find that it's too commonplace nowadays in Eurovision where some entries have to rely on vocal enhancements just to deliver a standard performance; it can be really off-putting and it cheapens the experience. (just my opinion).
I predict that in the case of Olly we won't really hear much of the live vocal itself on the night, as I imagine it will be drowned out with layered vocals and the backing track. I hope that I'm proven wrong though, but his voice just doesn't have the strength to carry itself in such a large space and that's one of the reasons why I was a little concerned with him as the entrant.
Starting to feel like I'm being too critical now but not the intention lol. I just don't think that his instrument is particularly suited for the large environments; he's much more effective in smaller, intimate spaces or in studio cuts where there is less reliance on the vocal carry strength.
@EpicTutorialTips I agree on pretty much all this - But I think 'performance' is more important than the voice and the song now (E.g. Finland 2023), and that's why we see so many artists using backing tracks, pre-recorded vocals etc... Because very few are talented enough to both perform and hold a note. I just see it as the modern world - Nothing is of substance anymore, the facade is more important etc.
He's a terrible singer. Very weak with poor technique, so live vocals I have no faith in with him bases on past listenings. This track is fine. But it's not a winner from this clip.
@@jackward9901 - Yeah, that sadly seems to be the case these days as the new norm. Plus those who spend too much time in a studio will eventually lose their core skills of singing as they become used to relying on software and post production to correct all the mistakes.
It's just a very alien world to what I grew up in (where you're expected to fill a hall without even a microphone). The newer kids on the block don't realise how easy they have it these days lol.
