  • It's April fools day, so time to tap into our inner trickster and make a contraption to be the dread of all players who come upon it. In this video we investigate how we can make the most effective area denial weaponry in minecraft, all from a basic idea that, well, doesn't work out the way we expected.

If the arrow itself deals more damage (ie fully charged power 5 arrow), the arrow’s damage is higher than instant dmg II, so the game uses the arrow damage instead of the potion damage. with these insta kill arrows, there’s no way the instant dmg II will take into effect. it’s only really useful when you can’t fully charge ur Power 5 bow or the enemy has Proj Prot4

    Interesting, I didn't know that arrows stuck in a trapdoor could be primed with momentum like that.
    I made a similar build years ago, but I had it to where the trapdoor sat a block higher and was timed to open just as the TNT was about to explode, so the arrows would be in free-fall when the TNT exploded. Firing angle was adjusted by adjusting the delay between the TNT dispensers and the trapdoor. I should rebuild it to see how it would fare against armor and such.

      protection IV gives 16 points of damage reduction in all areas (general, explosion, projectiles and fire), corresponding to 4 points for each armour piece - I think this means about 72% damage reduction?
      any of the specialised protections (assuming it's level IV) provide no points of protection in other areas, and 8 points of protection in their specific area
      since the max protection points in any area can only be 20, the best protection setup against projectiles would actually be 3 armour pieces with prot IV and 1 piece with proj. prot IV - 80% reduction (20 points) in projectile damage and 48% reduction (12 points) in all other areas
      not much difference in damage reduction so i think the death laser would probably still rip through a projectile prot armour set lmao

    Hey cubicmetre I think the reason for the arrow randomness in your single-shot setup was because the arrow was stopped by a block and then was released again.
    When I did it, accelerating a perfectly regulated arrow with TNT while it was in the air produced no error, but when even just dropping a perfectly regulated arrow onto a block and then breaking the block, it produced an error.

The shield will break if the arrow is fast enough and I don't know if an auto-totem hack will be able to switch to more totems fast enough when a shotgun blast comes.

    I think the portal thing could work in a different way given a specific set of circumstances. If you lined up the portal so that the arrow would pass through the portal block on a tick (for instance, if the arrow is going 4blocks per tick, have the portal be on a multiple of 4 away) and then somehow loaded all the required chunks at the same time (perhaps with multiple portal contraptions), theoretically the arrow would align with the portal and pass through. Would likely require a lot more setup though.

    It is in fact possible to get a perfect arrow and tnt alignment. It’s been a while since I developed my own system for this, but:
    First, you must cancel the x and y momentum of tnt by pushing tnt into walls with pistons (or slime blocks moved by pistons). Without this step the explosion itself is unreliable.
    Next, you must align the tnt perfectly in between two blocks by pushing with a stair (acts as a vertical slab) at exactly the right time while the tnt is falling.
    Lastly, you must align the arrow exactly in the middle of two blocks. I think I remember pushing walls for this step, but I think the important thing was that it falls and lands as such: with one side exposed to air, the other somehow wedged inside of a block (it somehow “phases” through when it falls), and the arrow tip resting on two blocks beneath.
    I don’t remember exactly how I achieved the last step, but I do know perfect arrow alignment is possible.

  • @BrightonsPriest
    @BrightonsPriest Před rokem

    Step ticks are the same as screenshots it’s just a moment in time so when you put it at 4/1 ticks it’s just teleported 4 blocks it’s not actually moving over each block. And the trap door is reducing its momentum because activation of the trap door updates the block data so that’s were the speed is being reduced. You can use block suppression to prevent the momentum from being reduced.

    I wish I was smart enough to come up with this sort of stuff lol
    Also side note, I worked out that for the arrow to be going hypersonic, it would have to go at a minimum speed of 85.75 blocks per tick, mach 5, taking the assumption 1 block is a metre across and 1 tick being 0.05 seconds from what I can find

    The trapdoor trick was so bizzare nd amazing at the same time! Can anyone explain briefly why the arrow stored the kinetic energy from the TNT and released when the trapdoor is opened? Was it because of the trapdoors hitbox?
    Anyways, amazing videos as always! Keep going on with your amazing innovations, cubic! ❤️

      I think it might be because when arrows are stuck in a block they aren't affected by anything other than the block moving/breaking. So, when the arrows are stuck in the trapdoor, they won't move, and once it opens, the arrows will fall, allowing them to use their velocity to shoot forwards.

      @syrelian Před 2 lety +5

      Arrows are weird, they stop moving but retain a small amount of velocity when they get lodged in a block, this is how they fall forward a bit usually when you break the block they're lodged in, but if you can apply new forms of velocity to them while lodged, that velocity doesn't bleed off because the arrow isn't moving/interacting with gravity, so its just retained till the arrow achieves freedom of motion

    A solution to the problem of the arrows despawning would be to shoot the arrows onto a piston facing upwards and make the piston repeatedly activate. Moving arrows don’t despawn.

  • @captaineflowchapka5535

    imagine a mod that give u a pocket dimension in a tiny block
    u put hte block on the ground and use tiniy block to conenc thing , the whole canon is processed and shoot in the boundarie of the dimension the arrow are then scale back
    and u have a shotgun in minecraft (and a lot of thing else like if redstone power can go into integral or other integration with mini block ect...)

    I think you should try prot 4 from pretty far back, seeing as the ray itself is kind of like a shotgun, maybe you were taking more than one arrow. Not that I doubt that one arrow can Insta kill but still
