Chainsaw Milling 30 Foot Beams from an Old White Pine

  • This is some raw footage from the chainsaw milling of a 30' white pine that had died last fall. While the bark was coming off the wood was still quite solid. This was also the first time using the new Husqvarna 395xp with a 28" bar.

    Now that's pretty cool! Was it very difficult getting the cut straight having to move the guide rail like that?

      It’s not perfect but it’s decent. We also snapped a line on the rest to keep things straight. Once we can lug it out of the woods I hope to true it up on my mill.

    Curious if your using a ripping chain or standard crosscutting chains? Also how long did it take to mill this

      Hi Isaac - Yes, I'm using a ripping chain which is basically a crosscut chain filed at 10 degrees. We had this all milled in a morning, so around 3 hours.
