Obviously you weren't participating in the "rushing to jamie" squad. But I do think both Berra saying "you got Mike Mo to thank for that one right there" after the impossible late flip, followed by the squad rushing Jamie, killed the intensity of the moment. I felt really bad for Nick when the dudes ran up to Jamie like it was a 90's kids movie where the nerd wins a game of basketball against the bully or something. Jamie skunked Nick who was clearly a nervous wreck, the crowd was barely cheering and only like 8 people rushed Jamie while the rest of the crowd didn't move for like a minute. It was cringe af.

No one made him out to be the antagonist either, obviously the crowd favorite was Jamie but Nick is still an incredibly recognized skater.
I do agree Bryan’s friends are pretty childish for blowing past Nick like that though, but a little wildness is honestly to be expected from them, and they were allowed into the event so 🤷🏽♂️ idk. That’s a weird, arbitrary line to draw homie. Had the game been S to SKATE, would it have been appropriate to have rushed in? Where do you draw the line at “extremely hard fought” and how to you expect everyone magically decide not to rush in when that line hasn’t been crossed? Also, can we not acknowledge that although the championship game wasn’t close, the road to winning batb was “extremely hard fought”?
Also, wtf, the guy just made history being only the second person to win 2 batbs, and he did it on his first two appearances. I would be rushing up on my friend in excitement too! It’d be kind of a whack to worry about whether or not the whole thing will look cringe later. They probably thought the rest of the crowd would rush in anyway, I personally find it a little cringe that they didn’t. Maybe they were waiting to see if a redo would be called. But in hindsight, that attempt had no business getting one.

I love skateboardings fan base more then any other sport. Everyone cheers for either skater even though their rooting for Jamie and at the end when Nick had his re do it was dead silent from everyone letting him focus on his trick. You don’t see this in other sports.
