back in the mid 90s i got this 67 Bug with just a stock 1600 in it, i saved for over a year so i could build me a 2276. i remember the first i took it for a drive, my muscle memory was for the 1600 and the amount of gas i gave she didn't react like my mind and body was ready for. i embarrassed a lot of V8s in that Bug. now in 2023 the HP they are getting is crazy. thanks for the video..

That's great! I know how it feels to lose that motivation sometimes but just getting in the garage if only to clean up a little and maybe spend some time with your VW can get the dreams flowing again!

$$$ go fast parts always seem to be a bit pricey.
Oh I see your Got the Cool Tins on ya Barrels , Im Putting them In Bess with Just a 1641 set of Barrels and pistons , For the Time Being , Cos She is Down on Compression In one Cylender Plus Stripped Spark Plug So Im Gonna Pull the Motor

I;m a cool tin fan too. Run them on my cammed 1600 and they work great despite what the skeptics might say!

Hey JW ! both of those pistons are forged ! You would see steel struts on the cast.

Hopefully you will know which cylinder surface, the total rings need for the break in, and to last a long time. The like the oil groove in the JE pistons, for wrist pin.
Yeah I really think the torque plates are going to help a lot, the JE pistons are pretty sweet!
Jason, what brand oil pump is that you’re running on envy. It looks like a dry sump oil pump on many v8s.
It's an Autocraft oil pump, I did a video on it.

Great content Following new built. Also built a 2276 turbo AGAIN lol. I'm debating if I should go with total seal rings this time since I had piston rings issues alot similar like you im guessing it was probably just a bad tune or it might be normal for this kind of size engine specially under boost . My machine shop told me if you got the extra money to throw away do it . But it won't make a difference from traditional rings . What's your experience with them ?
Well rebuilding these monster VW engines may end up being a regular thing if boosted, this is still new to me but I do think getting the tune dialed in will help this time. As far as using Total Seal rings I'm new to that as well, just the one time so far and I jacked them up soooooo the jury is still out :)
