Getting the Friesland for sure. This ship is basically a benson with 1 less turret with a sonar
Especially since the ROCS Lo Yang previously went by the name USS Benson before it was handed over to the Republic of China Navy.

Loyang is more utilitarian than Friesland. Friesland is fun as hell but I like loyang better. Especially with the screamer torps.

Hey Spartan what do you think of the new sound update ? Personaly i'm glad they changed the shared sound of the newer ships, but as for changing all the gun sound i find it kinda pointless, mostly for ships like Baltimore, GK/Conqueror or Bismarck for exemple

Yeah, I gather that Loyang will be the more ready-to-play, easy to get used to ship between the two, but I’m gonna go for the Friesland because I won’t have to fork over money for the novel ship (except the initial admiralty backing). Also, my Swirsky is pretty high level, so I won’t have to pump a bunch of resources into a new commander. Just thinking of the grind….

I’m gonna get the Friesland mainly because it’s actually different from other dds, an since I have the Tallinn I’ll give you some info on it. It’s doesn’t get a heal, it’s radar is very short duration at 15 seconds, hydro is average, the guns are 180mm good AP, HE kinda sucks but will do in a pinch, definitely recommend steering gears in thus boat

The Tallinn has radar and sonar, no heals on this one but the top tier cruiser in the line does get it
I'm going for the Friesland. As a Dutch player I need the first Dutch ship ever on Legends haha. But I'm so disappointed that we don't get an Dutch commander

Completely unrelated but watching pc version get new German BB line with amazing secondaries I really hope we eventually get that line or at least a buff to secondaries. Increased range and accuracy would be fantastic. It’s a shame the Bismarck has better secondaries than GK

That “tier 6 in tier 7” problem with Loyang is the exact grudge I had with the goddamn Molotov. (Except it’s tier 4 at tier 5) At least I got it out of a crate so I made a profit when I sold the piece of crap. I know people say to not sell ships, and I thought long and hard about it. But ultimately, I see free money, better tier 5 premiums in my port, and a boatload of money that I put towards Kansas.
Edit: on top of that, they just made a tech tree one, so if I want to suffer in Molotov again, I can at least make tech tree progress

The Molotov is a fuggin beast. I run von Essen with Yamamoto and vian as inspirations and the ap slaps anything. Gorky is also an ap monster.

For DDs... sure, but new Commander isn't restricted to DD class. Could be spicy to put Di Revel and this guy on a JB or inspiring Mordoff on Fletcher.

Loyang falls into that same collector category along with Missouri with that situation niche to boot.
Hits Loyang extra hard since its literally tech tree 6 Benson, just from a different time period with a radar & the Money Maker perk.
Well you can also put on the fast shorter ranged torpedoes which do like 16+k damage. The sonar is 5.4 km. I have them both and like loyang better. More utilitarian.
Just thought of a build for battleship commanders: Ding Ruchang and AL Sharnhorst both legendary 2 or higher

Wait for the other commanders to drop, then you decide what ship to get and not get. Most of the videos are in my opinion biased.

Tallinn is 12 Russian 180’s on a hipper right?
Yeah but they downgraded the bow armor though they did give it the Russian ice breaker bow armor belt. But made it a pig in turning compared to hipper. That fuggin 900m turning radius is awful but the ap fucking slaps on all the 180mm gunned boats. I can’t wait for Riga to become available next update. 220mm Russian rail guns could be a fun ship.
The reason for no dedicated commander is simple: Politics.
The Loyang was sold to Taiwan, which no one can even acknowledge exists as separate from China, lest they risk being cut off from the Chinese market. Hence, they cannot give the Loyang a real person as a commander, like every other ship has the option, since it would be a Taiwanese military officer.
Therefore, until they can just make up a commander for Asian Destroyers, they imported a generic one from PC.

Did he command a post-WW2 Taiwanese destroyer, though? I doubt it, so my point is still valid. To avoid the messy politics of reality, they just bundle all these ships into “pan-Asia” and refuse to use commanders from the era these ships existed in.

@@dgeneratio1 double concealment is kinda dead, though. The only ships I use it on is T-61 and the two Polish DDs and that's because the captain's base trait is concealment. I still have a slot for something more useful than 300m, like Blue, Atago, or Sims.
I'd go Loyang, frankly, OP. Eventually... it's gonna get an actual DD Commander and gonna be great no matter the match's class composition.

Yeah but that is how the pan Asians( abd Pan-EU) are gonna be like many ships abd cammanders having nun to do with each other just under one faction because they are from that continent

In game they're exclusive to Pan-Asian ships and some IJN DDs. They cant hit DDs, but they do more damage and are stealthier than normal torpedos

It has better concealment than the American ships. Better torps especially the screamers. That 5.4km sonar is bitchin. I have more fun in loyang compared to Fletcher. Though Friesland is very fun just got to be a little more cautious.
You don't like it now..no dd captains because the line is practically brand new. New captain suddenly drops and everyone is going to be pissed you didn't get this shit

Putting 'Will to Rebuild' on a DD is a total asinine thing to do. 20% HP on a DD is like 3k hitpoints, which means you will still be basically 1 shot away from dying.. BTW if each rank increases the reload by .2% the 20×.2=4%

Last I checked benson doesn’t have screamer torps that hit for 16k+ damage and doesn’t have a sonar at all. Don’t get me wrong I like benson a lot but this ship is different and a blast to play.
Or get the Maass instead

@@doomguy.23frommars60 it’s not that they “made” Swirski a universal. It just means that the only ships coming out for pan-European are destroyers, and this will,be used from the get go. Imo, there’s no reason as to why they couldn’t add a destroyer commander for this ship. I understand when they add cruisers, but just add that commander in then. No use in gimping ships by giving the the crappy “all ship class” commander imo
@@abyss7539 hm it looks like u didn't hear about the news legends is making the Dutch cruiser line part of the pan euros hence why Frieslandbeing Dutch is European ( which PC should of done but they wanted to announce a "new" nation) which is why they are in fact making him a universal when that comes and in the patchnotes they teased the lines but yes it should of been a DD cammander for the pan Asians after they could of added a universal bro later
