I dont get why they didn’t expect it. We’ve seen Steph Curry carry this team alone last season (with dray but Dray was playing really bad last seaone specially when Steph is not around). But with what Curry showed last season no wonder why they would win this season if just another 2 player would step up luckily Wiggin, Poole did step up even though we were all expecting from Wiseman and not them. And then there is Gary Payton 2, Kaminga and other players that are promising too. and then announcement of Klay’s return which gave us the idea of them being great again. Thinking about it now Wiggins really did step up and Bob Myers did a hellajob picking all this players!

Steve is right, He said when the season started the title wasn't a sure bet, But when they went on "the run" that he mentioned that is with steph leadig the team they began to believe... remember Jordan poole hadn't really exploded yet back then and Klay was still out, with no big man too (wiseman)and co. But it all slowly came together
Because no matter how great one is, it is a team sport and you need good players and role players around them. Draymond’s injury back in January was huge and was derailing their season then you had Steph’s injury 4 weeks before the playoffs.
Probably the least expected of their 4 recent championships, not completely unexpected. When the season started, they didn't know how Klay would be after being injured for a long time. Also Poole made a huge improvement this year. Steph and Draymond got injured during the regular season. Fortunately Golden State (besides Payton's injury) was mostly healthy during the playoffs.
You pretty much answered your question right after you asked it😆 But I think Klay's return gave the fans more hope, which in turn, encouraged them to win that chip🏆

As a lifelong lakers fan. I have a lot of respect for the warriors. Klay is Mychals son and I remember when mychal thompson was on the showtime lakers. I’m always happy when the Boston Celtics lose. Steve Kerr went to palisades high school in the LA area. Also Kerr followed the footsteps of Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich. Class act. I’m also a lifelong Dodgers fan who hates the San Francisco Giants.
