I wouldn’t be surprised if this guy has done MMA or Muay Thai. Taking into account that he’s wearing armor, his teeps and knees are amazing.

Naturally it would give you a massive advantage in heavily armoured combat. In fact about half of all historical medieval fighting manuals and manuscripts have chapters on boxing and wrestling and it’s uses on armoured opponents.

Yes and with armor it does not hurt so hurt can knee as hard as he wants which puts him at a very high advantage.

Ive always wondered how many broken bones people get from this
Sometimes people break their fingers or toes when not wearing good gauntlets / proper sabatons but rarely anything major. I think the worst I've witnessed was a broken nose and broken ribs.

If you take away jabbing the sword at hinges or open spots in the armor, yea, it basically does come down to MMA. Makes sense.
A good way to justify the mma too is to make getting the sword into those open spots considerably easier. Wrestle him down, pin him, open face plate or lift chin, dagger meet face!
