  • Hi everyone! I hope you enjoy this video! I worked at a Doggy Daycare from July 2018 until the end of January 2019. I left because I didn’t have enough availability for what my boss wanted.

    I've been working at a doggie daycare for over 3yrs now and everything she is saying is 100% correct! And you will think the worst part of the job is cleaning up the dog poop, but after a while you'll learn the worst part of the job is the barking!!! Just an update: I've been at my doggie daycare for 6yrs now 😏😁

      That’s a really unfortunate and scary situation for all staff and pets in a facility. I hope things can get better. I’m sorry your management is like that, that’s not a good way to ever have people feel. You shouldn’t be afraid to suggest something that could protect employees and other pets

    I worked 8 years at 3 different pet resorts. Lots of nonsense and smoke and mirrors. The whole industry needs an upgrade in regulations, pay, and environment. Any questions, just ask. I've worked with over 3 thousand dogs and will answer any questions. I've been in every dog situation you can imagine. I had enough and quit a week ago after 5 years with the same resort. Demand more pay. Start a Union. Corporations that are buying out resorts, stay away from.

    I love my doggie day camp job,sometimes I wish I had a little more energy to play with them and stuff,but I get tired real easily and even running around with them for a little bit or taking them up front to the parents has me gasping. I do a great job at what I do and I've been there for almost three years. I take vitamins,but it only works now and then. So I love days where it's real calm and the dogs aren't running around like maniacs,nearly running me over in the process. I'm young too 23 in fact and I should have a ton of energy,but I don't.

    Is there things your allowed/ allowed not to do at a doggy day care ? (Ex: if they lick you or are you allowed to run with them)

    • @xoxoAJS
      @xoxoAJS  Před 3 lety

      I’m not sure what you mean by “if they lick you” but you can normally run back and forth with them in the play rooms, if you want to. I don’t think most places would have you take them outside to run with them. My facility offered one on one walks for an extra fee, where I guess you could run with them if the animal wanted to.

      Alexis Brewer omg same!! I have an interview next week at a pet hotel. The position will be dog handler. And I’m quite nervous about it. But I had done externship at an animal hospital, during that time I would clean the kennels from urine and poop. I would pet the animals, give them comfort. I could tell when a dog was on edge, and how to keep them from jumping on you. Even with all this knowledge it can still be scary when going out to work with animals.

      I know you wrote this about 4 months ago, but I am going to put my response anyway for anyone who might be looking for an answer. If you are considering working at a doggy daycare as a handler and you are nervous, make sure you go in with a lot of confidence, but not cockiness. Let them know that you're inexperienced but that you are willing to learn.

      I’m a week through training at a dog daycare and they were desperate for help. I found out why when I heard the hourly wage, and it’s part time so you don’t get benefits. That means you’re going to have mostly young people that don’t know any better and have crap work ethic. I’m getting to board my dogs for free while working so that’s the only reason why I’d work for 11$ an hour.

      It depends on the facility and what state you work in. Working at a doggy daycare can be dangerous when breaking up a dog fight and there is a lot of responsibility in taking care of animals. The facility that I worked at required you to be 18 years old to work there.

      The place I used to work at would hire high schoolers for the basic job of cleaning and leading the animals out to use the bathroom.
      I didn’t see it for myself, but I heard someone was fired because she would hit the animals. It’s sad to hear honestly. I also think my location wasn’t the best so it makes sense. Thankfully I hadn’t seen it for myself though.
