    Dang this video blew up already. Arrow build/giveaway next week!
    I would also like to apologize, there were a few negative comments on this video, and I feel like some of the things I said could be taken the wrong way. In no way was I trying to put anybody down in this video, I consider everybody in the archery community a friend . The sport is already small enough, and we don’t need to be splitting each other up into even smaller tribes, if you shoot archery, your a friend to me! That being said, I think friends should be able to give each other, constructive criticism and share a few jokes in good spirit.

    You hit the nail on the head. The big shooters all give great advice but if you don't put the time in behind your bow and ensure that you are doing everything in your power to be consistent in all your shots then it all a waste of your time. Practice practice practice is what makes you a better archer. Keep up the great content.

    It is so easy to get hung up on trendy stuff, not just with archery but with hunting as well. I got so tired of feeling like I was trying to catch up with all the newest greatest whatever. I'm back into archery after 20 years of doing other things. The trendy hasn't changed but I have. Keep it simple and enjoy the sport, that's what I'm going to do.

    I shoot crossed, cataracts and the resulting surgery can change a person up. I’m not sure I have a dominate eye anymore lol. Thanks for a good laugh when you mentioned the paid influencers….they are called influencers for a reason, of course. I buy the popular stuff because I love to tinker with archery equipment and try new things….just about as much as I enjoy actually shooting. Of the influencers, I would give Dudley big credit because he seems to sincerely want to help people. I watched his School of Nock videos over and over and spent hours working on the things he taught…..there is zero doubt it made be a much better archer. I’m grateful for that. And it was 100% free of charge. So, perhaps there are some gems in some of the influencer content.

      Without a doubt there are good influencers doing great things for the community, I’d say it’s a strong majority. You can still do great things while making a living in the industry, I think the flaw is in the consumers who don’t realize the nature of the beast with sponsorships/brand deals.
      Thanks for watching, hope to see you stick around!

Looks like the elbow is pointed to the sky. I can’t do that. Not drawing more than 50lbs but after 5 shots one day it was so painful and hurt for maybe 4 days. Yeah don’t always mimic someone 😂

    Shooting with both eyes open isn't for me lost a arrow by doing that

  • @miguelgutierrez3720
    @miguelgutierrez3720 Před 5 měsíci

    So I am gonna agree with almost everything you said the one part I will have to disagree with is the both eyes open method of shooting. Yes it can be helpful but for some people it comes down to genetics for that method to work your dominant eye has to be significantly stronger than your weak eye, if it's not then both eyes will "fight" to establish the sight picture. In other words if it's not broke don't fix it if you shoot with one eye open whether it looks "ugly" or not as long as you can be consistent and accurate who cares if you shoot with one eye or both when your main focus is mainly the pin and the target all shooting with both eyes do is really increase your field of view and as far as depth perception if you don't have a range finder learn to use your thumb nail as a range finder to guage distance and if you are shooting target archery well more times than not you have a sight tape and know the distance so no need for a range finder just set your sight to the right yardage and follow through with your shot process.

    • @joshuadouglasarchery
      @joshuadouglasarchery  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Thanks for the comment! I can see where you’re coming from talking about shooting with one eye closed. Across archery and firearms training I’ve ran into few people who’s dominant eye doesn’t take over pretty drastically, so I guess that’s where I’m coming from. The “ugly,” part was purely a joke, I have to keep in mind I have a very dry sense of humor so I should clarify haha.
      The depth perception I always think of for more of a in the moment hunting situation. I appreciate the comment, it’s good for people to keep in mind that every shooter is different and there are plenty of rules to follow and then break when needed. Hope people see your comment!

    • @miguelgutierrez3720
      @miguelgutierrez3720 Před 5 měsíci

      @joshuadouglasarchery oh no worries at all. My sense of humor tends to be dry as well, lol. One thing that I would suggest to get really good that actually does help become a better hunter as well is trying target archery. I know shooting at a dot or a ring seems counterintuitive, but if you try and get high scores when you go and hunt, you will notice your shots become way better for hunting even if you don't pick up target archery it helps fix form and forces you to practice proper form and pulling through your shot.

    • @joshuadouglasarchery
      @joshuadouglasarchery  Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks for the advice! I appreciate your input, but I think that ideology of “if someone can’t shoot well, their advice is pointless.” (Not your words exactly, just a popular tribe of thought) hurts people a lot more than it helps them.
      Just because someone shoots better than another doesn’t mean their coaching will be better. Joel turner hasn’t made a Vegas podium in his life and the best archers in the world get in lines to learn from him. (I’m not comparing myself to Joel turner, just making a point)
      I’m glad you enjoyed the video brother, best of luck if you’re getting after turkeys 💪🏻🏹
