    what I want to know is how to safely pull the needle of the tachometer

      I used my fingers to pull them off , you could probably use a tweezer as well. Comes off with little effort. Important part is to put the tach in diagnostics mode so the needles won't be off when you put them back.

      Maybe if you disconnect the neg terminal from the batt and let 5mins pass before removing the pointers.
      That might work.
