  • This is a video from when I went to Deshler and Fostoria, Ohio.
It was amazing to see Iron Triangle Railfan Park.
Deshler was not as large, but still great.
You feel closer because there is no fence between you and the trains.
Overall, an incredible trip and if you have time, I would highly recommend going.
The two spots are only about 40 minutes from each other.

Love to watch the trains rumbling thru Fostoria. They drove me nuts 40 years ago when I dated girls from Fostoria! Lol!

This line is the Chicago to Baltimore mainline. I grew up next to it when it turns into the New Castle subdivision in Kent Ohio. There were times I would have one passing my house going West...one going East...while hearing another one coming from downtown going East. By the time the one going West passed the second one would roll by going East. Then if I listened hard enough I could hear another one coming down the line. The most we counted was like 80. But that was way back in the 90s when the economy was popping and you had Lordstown. I have since moved, but whenever I go home I stare out my old window and watch trains like I always do.

That's awesome you got to experience it when it was so busy!

I visited Deshler back in 2017, and I plan to go there for my 35th birthday in July 2021... if this lousy pandemic would just GO AWAY! As for Fostoria... I've been there four times (including a twelve-hour visit in August of 2020), and it's my #2 favorite place to railfan, right behind Bellevue.

Northern Ohio really does have some great spots with non-stop action.
Good luck getting back to Deshler.
I liked it the most out of the three because you're so close to the action.
Fostoria was great, but still you're far away from most of the lines unless you run around.

@@nkyrailfan I usually focus on anything that is on the old NKP and Hocking Valley/C&O lines, since the sheltered pavilion is by that diamond. Anything on the B&O line, I shoot with a telephoto lens on my camera... and most of that footage ends up looking like crap. Oh well, so be it.

Ohio has great railroad action. Alliance...Youngstown...Berea...Cincinnati.
I grew up next to this line when it turns into the New Castle sub and rolls through Kent Ohio.

@@LeeDfined I actually live about 10 miles from Creston/Sterling, where the CSX New Castle Sub runs alongside the County Line Trail (a former Atlantic & Great Western/New York, Pennsylvania, & Ohio/Erie/Erie Lackawanna/Conrail line that was shut down in 1977 and ultimately torn up in 1983). I go there all the time whenever the weather is decent, but lately, there just hasn't been much traffic. Blame the pandemic AND the late Hunter Harrison for that...

I like Creston and Sterling as a quick way to CSX for me. 1.25 hrs.
Been to Fostoria 4 times in the last year. Combined Deshler in once last year. Went to Bellevue early May 2022. Need more Guidance for Bellevue to get near NS Yard and W&LE merge.

It is such a shame to see these great buildings torn down.

What Software do you use to Blend your Drone Video with Ground Audio?

    • @nkyrailfan
      @nkyrailfan  Před 2 lety +1

      I use Davinci Resolve.
It's a free video editor that works pretty well.
It has a steep learning curve but there are dozens of tutorial videos.
