  • In this episode, Sandra from Michigan shares her experiences from the Manistee National Forest in the Lower Peninsula. Sandra claims she lives off of the land and raises her own livestock and gardens for a living. She has heard strange vocalizations that she can only compare to as King Kong. She has seen glowing eyes at the edge of the woods. Sandra claims she has seen a black bipedal shadow moving through the trees and her friend claims he saw a strange bear creature that really freaked him out. Note this is a man who knows the wildlife, Sandra suspects he encountered something else. Sandra also talks about mind speak and missing time in the area. I totally believe you, Sandra! Just north of Baldwin, MI, I had built a small cabin, on 20 acres, off-grid, in the middle of 1,000's of acres of Manistee Nat'l Forest land. Had the property for 5 years and during that time spent weekends and several weeks throughout the spring/summer/fall. My significant other and I would stay up late, sitting on the porch, just listening to the night sounds. We had packs of coyotes that would run the property and we enjoyed listening to their yipping, barking and howling in the quiet of the dark forest. One night, while we were out sitting on the porch, we heard what sounded like a weird voice coming from just west of the property say my partner's name out loud, as clear as a bell! This was after midnight and there was no one for miles around... it really freaked us out! I've done tree knocks and had knocks returned from out in the woods. I've also heard siren sounds after midnight from quite a distance, like tornado sirens, not police, fire or ambulance. This location is very far from any large town and the tornado siren sound going off at midnight, 1:00am and after, when there were no storms, makes no sense other than it is sasquatch. I did hear a very loud "whoop" outside my cabin in the middle of the night also. It whooped several times and I could tell it was from a very large creature... I've heard all kinds of owls and it was no owl. Never heard that sound again. I'm like Sandra... I don't fear these creatures and I talk to them when I'm out for walks in the woods, even if I don't feel or hear them. I live on 50 acres down state now, in Amish/farming land and I know they travel through these areas. My dog senses when they are around and she will whine for no reason, and at times, cower under my camper and growl which is VERY unusual. She isn't afraid of anything. About 10 years ago, I read an account of a young deer hunter hunting just a few miles from my property had a Class A sighting in Calhoun County. I reached out to him on Facebook and he recounted to me his sighting. He was so scared that he hasn't been hunting in that area again. They are here and no one can convince me otherwise. Thank you for sharing your experiences and I'd love to hear if you have more! Take care, Lori (Phil's wife)

Who you are who your dog is and your dog is family and you love him. To please not hurt or scare either of you. You are neihgbors on this land and have to learn to live cohesively together. That if there ever in a emergency need of some sort to try to let you know and you will try to help them. Etc etc. It sounds like they know your alone and dont like it when males come around. They will understand you and you will have to watch carefully for signs from them. They do such minut things to let you know it crazy. Theyll turn a chair on your porch 6 inches. Or leave a leaf on it. Things we would never pay attn to. Good luck sounds amazing. The female probably was telepathically talking to you.they dont wanna hurt you. I had not found it even though I knew what direction it was in. I have never been lost in the forest. Until I tried to find the larger trail again. I had a good friend of mine that has passed now, that had a experience when he was young in the U.P. And i worked with a guy that actually had a sighting while deer hunting not too far from where i live. I told him he should document it with the BFRO. If i ever get the chance to see him again. I will see if he's will to contact you. I'm hoping this person in the comments contacts you that lives in Calhoun county. Keep up the good work it means a lot. Be safe and take care.

Do I doubt your encounters, absolutely not. Michigan is one of many hot spots for Sasquatch and Dogman encounters. Remember if they wanted to harm you they could without any effort. Besides there are no known predators that warn their prey that they are there. All of the growling and tree shaking etc are warning signs. If something 7-10ft tall and 600-1000+lbs would absolutely have no hard time to do with what it wanted to do to you. Be safe, remember to always have a dog with you they are great at picking up on things that us as humans just don't have. A personal locator device is not a bad idea, even though you may not venture far from familiar woods. You never know, Dave Paulides and his missing 411 cases make perfect examples of why one is necessary. The dog, the dog, the dog they are quite possibly the best investment you can make. They are our best friends, they are protective and will always alert you to something wether camping or hiking. As a fellow born and raised Michigander I'm always intrigued to hear encounters I our state. When I used to hunt and snowmobile Sasquatch was always in the Pacific Northwest not around here, its spooky to think all the times I was alone in the woods waiting for my snowmobile party to realize that they were a person short. If I knew then what I know now I would be a little more cautious. God bless

I can't say for certain. Best I can say is I am sure each person would have their own experience. I've heard both good and bad experiences, but some people who say they were running for their life, made it out to tell their story. I think most people run from their own fear in most situations. These people/ creatures are so big, there's super rare chance if they meant deadly harm, a human would get away. I also think they scare people on purpose to keep them away from living areas and family. I also believe that 3/4 of the missing persons or unalived and found, are most likely Dog Men. Only because I have never heard anything nice about them. I'm sure sasquatch are like humans. Many personalities, and some good, some bad. This is only me speculating however.

In September 2020 we were camping at his cabin on a fishing trip and it was probably 5 AM and I could hear something howling. off in the distance. I don't know what it was , but I know it wasn't a Coyote ,Dog ,Owl or any else I've heard in the animal kingdom. It ( might ) have been a human but if it was they had one hell of a set of lungs as it would howl for a good 30 seconds each time and it wasn't a siren. I have hunted for 40+ years in the Manistee national forest west of Cadillac.
My brother had a cabin west of Cadillac, and it was prime territory for wildlife ranging from squirrels, wild turkeys, bobcats all the way up to large black bears.
My brother's cabin sat smack dab in the middle of a travel corridor that black bears would travel. Needless to say, there have been many sightings and encounters with black bears, and, while the vast majority of encounters, the bears would quickly run away.
However, there were times when the occasional bear wouldn't show any fear of us. There was one bear that didn't have any fear of us. Since it was in the yard, we tried to run it off, but it would act territorial.
My sister-in-law eventually saw it approaching my nephew ( who was only about 5 at the time) and retrieved a handgun and fired it several times in the air before the bear would leave.
There was also a bear attack just west of Cadillac approximately 10 years ago, and the DNR had to put it down. The young lady had some severe, but non Life threatening injuries.
Bear attacks are extremely rare, but they can happen anytime.
I'm only sharing my experiences, and I mean no disrespect to anyone😉😊

Being that I live within 20 miles of the Manistee National Forest I’ve often wondered about the people whose homes back up to the forest, the types of encounters they’ve had whether it’s along highway 55, 37, 10, etc. so I’m very interested to listen.

I live in SE Michigan too. Some posters are saying there isn't, but there are wild pigs here, they are even in Saskatchewan, Canada, You probably will not find drift wood in the forest, unless someone dragged it there from water, since driftwood only comes from being in water. I think you meant dead wood instead. I haven't seen any sasquatch here, but have heard other accounts from eye witnesses.

Credible Big Game Hunters have said many times that you won't smell a bear like you think you would. If you kill one your definitely going to smell it then. But many hunters have said they dnt smell bears. Black Bears attack more people then brown bears do, especially a sow with cubs.

Because you can't hunt after dusk, and they prefer to come out at night. We aren't over run enough yet for them to run in the daylight looking for food. At least in my area. And, if there's a huge forest by you, I'm sure as here, they would rather be in there than outside of it except to eat the snacks and treats they think were planted just for them. 😶

The silence in those next few seconds broke my heart for Dave as I felt it was a very sneaky disrespectful thing … then you giggle and say that’s my call !!! I felt that was wrong on a few levels .

According to the DNR, Russian Boar is listed as one of the animals that can be hunted year round, so she's not wrong about that. But based on what she was describing, it sounded like she was talking about somebody's domesticated pigs that escaped from their pens. I live in the Manistee Forest as well, have explored seemingly every square mile of public land around here, and have never seen or witnessed any evidence of feral pigs around here, nor do I know of anyone who has. Even if they only come out at night somebody would catch one on a trail cam at some point. I wouldn't doubt that there is perhaps a small population of them down state or in the UP.
