- Hey everybody, and thanks for watching The Sim Crew! Today we will be reviewing the Thrustmaster TMX, Thrustmaster's entry into the budget wheel market. Often overshadowed by some of its more well - known competitors, we take a look to see how the TMX really stacks up, and if it really can hold its own in this (very competitive!) market. Just got a play station version (t150 rs) today. For those who say the force feedback isn’t enough on this wheel… you gotta be kidding me. I’ve been a weightlifter for 2+ yrs and still lose control sometimes at 80% feedback strength… it’s enough for beginners… trust me

couldn't fight the pro version but was able to buy the TMX for $118 clerance price from Gamestop! Loving it!

Update: I received the TMX Pro like 2 days after this comment (Prime yay) and I really love it. I've been playing Dirt Rally 2 and it's working great! The pedals do slide a good bit on carpet so I went ahead and got a wheel stand as well. Good stuff!

On eBay you can get a adapter to put a real car wheel on it for $16 but you loose the buttons and paddle shifters

this channel is quite underated
Had it for 2.5 years and also tried the G29. The TMX pro is alot better. The standard TMX pedals are not great, I would move up to the PRO
why us the tmx better?
@@jussosa the TMX pro feels and looks less like a toy wheel imo. Also I felt the FFB was a little more direkt as far as I could tell.
Right now I have the ts-xw wheel, which is a great upgrade. Although right now the Fanatec DD is probably better.

@@phrg8332 the wheel is the same in the tmx set, it's the pedal set that makes the difference in the pro version. Ofcourse it all depends how much you can afford to invest. If you want to take it next level go for load cell pedals.

and for 15 bucks you can upgrade the motor to a higher rpm one which will make it basically just as good as a t300

Hey does anyone know how to access the control panel at xbox series x? I feel like struggling and fighting the wheel on games (Dirt Rally 2, WRC 10, Forza, etc).

I upgraded from the G920 to the G29, after 4 months of using the G29 I tried the TMX pro once and It was so much better.
I swapped my g29 so fast after.
I am also upgrading after watching this video.
But is it much quieter too?

@@michaeltorode8689 is it compatible with shifters and handbrakes? And do you need to do a bunch of pc crap to change the amount of degrees it turns?
@@asianboivr6498 no, simple software you can add a handbrake and shifter yes, you can also change the wheel etc
@@milliyen7959 changing the wheel is a big hassle and if your on console you either buy a button box or you make a hole in the back and ziptie it to your stand because well you need to sign in to use it its a big hassle but worth it my assetto corsa control got so much better snd you cant use padels unless you buy a well that has a 6 pin connecter

Great wheel but the shifter is so damn expensive
The Logitech G29/G920/G923 wheels are much better, the force feedback is quieter and faster. You can feel the gears on the TMX compared to the Logitech wheels. Logitechs build quality is 10x better as the wheels are wrapped in genuine leather and made out of metal. The pedals are also way better as it comes in the box with 3 pedals and all metal build. People say the TMX has stronger force feedback but the Logitech actually had more torque meaning it’s stronger.
i have the tmx but they were all out of pro pedles so i had to get the basic set there not that bad man you make them sound like there garbage i dont mind them at all
does it have a fast auto center like in real cars?
I know I'm late to the party lol, obv not sure if u found ur answer elsewhere ( in the past 11 months 😂) but as of a week ago I own this wheel and wanted to clarify for u.. I'm assuming by auto center ur referring to the wheel spinning back in place after turning it correct? I gravitated toward this question because I struggled with this myself my first few play- through's with this wheel. My first experience with the TMX was on Forza Horizon 5 ( default settings are garbage and require major tweaking) and the FFB was more than sufficent on default wheel Settings, it was overpowering so I turned it way down within seconds of playing the game. As I was driving and turning, I noticed the wheel wasn't spinning back in place, I was completely manually pretty much dragging the wheel back in place after a sharp turn and it was incredibly annoying. I was very disappointed and assumed at 1st I had just gotten a raw deal and a sub-standard wheel. As it turns out... The FFB level DIRECTLY influences the auto centering feature. The higher ur FFB the harder and faster ur wheel spins back in place like a real vehicle.Once I discovered this my entire opinion about the wheel changed, it literally improved the experience by a 1000%. I now keep the FFB setting at .6 and that is perfect for me. A lot of ppl will tell u that they play with at atleast 1.1 and to each their own. Gotta tell u tho, the FFB in this wheel is powerful, never tried another wheel I'm a rookie lol so can't compare from personal experience, but I'm telling u: it's a force of nature...also if u have a wheel now ( this wheel or whatever) and happen to play FH5 I would be happy to give u my wheel setting layout. Everyone has their own tampering preferences, but I promise u I have a phenomenal general layout that u can tweak to ur taste afterward that will make the car handle much smoother and allow u to actually love the game... Can it be hard mounted?
The pedals can be hard mounted but the wheel only works with the clamp which will come in the box
"just buy the pro" my guy for me the pro is an extra R3000 ($160) so aint no way i can "just buy it"

on amazon you can get the pro used for $20 dollars more and it come with a 3 pedal set
i got the pro since the pedals were added on for $100 ,but if i got those pedals by themselves they would be 200

I had a g29 and one of these. Personally, I prefer the g29, unless you find a tmx for under 150€. On the TMX the force feedback is deffo more precise, but even though it uses the hybrid system, with slow movement it is still very notchy and the force needed to turn it is not even. This is not really very noticeable on racing games where the movements are mostly fast. But on other driving games like ETS2 or ATS it is very noticeable. Slow and precise small adjustments feel terrible on the TMX. The helical gears on the g29 provide a much smoother movement. at an approx 200€ price point, the G29 is more worth it. Better functionality, smoother movement, at the cost of a slightly less precise FF. The shifter is another story, the Logitech Shifter is absolutely terrible.
bought the tmx for 145€ new with the black friday, unfortunately the g920/29 still sits on 260/280€ new
But you can change the wheel
you can. Technically. There's adapters for it and there's tutorials. Be prepared to get your hands dirty though, as it requires electronics to be unplugged and replugged.
i don''t know why g29/920 is so OVERRATED
I own both and I like the g920 better than my tmx. It just feels so much better. Its build quality is so much better(leather wheel) but the tmx is awesome too
@@robertthabassheadjacobson4968 which brake pedal is the best. I hear the brake pedal on the G920 is too hard to push down.
@@Paula-pi3bc you have to take out the little rubber piece in the brake(which I did right away) and then it works alot better because yes it is way too hard to push down. It's easy to take apart takes about 10 minutes. Once that is done the pedals on the logitech are better.
