- Facts:
- The owners manual specifies 4.8L for an oil change
- 4.8L gets the oil level to 3 mm above the add line
- 5.8L gets the oil level to the full line.
- I'm probabably going to run her near the add line from now on... - Auta a dopravní prostředky
My wife’s 2024 CX-5 with non-turbo takes 5.2 quarts to get to full line. I change oil on ramps. Let it drain completely. Change filter and put drain plug back on. Fill with 5 quart jug. Start engine, check for leaks. Put cover back on. Drive off ramps. Shut engine off and let sit for 10-15 minutes. Check oil level. It will be a little over half on the dipstick. Add .2 quarts to bring it to full. Pretty common knowledge on these. It is strange though, I agree.
Just add a bit more so it’s about half way between the 2 dots on the dipstick. You probably only need to add 1/4 litre. Check it when the motor is warm. Run the car up to operating temperature, turn car off, park on a level surface, allow 5 minutes to 10 minutes for oil to settle back into the sump. Make your decision to add oil or not based on the dipstick reading, not based exactly on the specs. The specs are not precise regarding oil.
I've been dumping 6 quarts in mine for the last 10 years......runs like a champ and has never had an issue.
I had the same issue here in Australia where it specifies 5.1 litres of engine oil with the genuine Mazda oil filter and the level is about the same as yours was so I put another 200 ml in and added another 100 ml every morning before start up until I got the level to the full mark, the total amount of oil for mine which is the 2.2 diesel 2013 with the genuine Mazda filter is 5.6 litres. I hope that helps some of you guys on here.
Cheers.
Did you prefill the filter? I BET they are not including the .3 liter the filer eats up. ;)
Turbo 5.1 quarts not litres | Non-Turbo 4.8 quarts not litres
Oil comes in 5 quart jugs. Who wants to leave 0.2 quarts in a big jug? Dump all 5 quarts and your dipstick will be at the right level. No brainer.
It takes 5.2 for me. So I have a floater jug for the .2 topup. 🤷♂️
@@that_jamesguy let me show you the collection of half full containers of engine oil and additives I have lol
Yes. my CX-5 Signature is the same. I add oil until it is half-way between the two dots. It will be fine like this.
My daughter got her oil changed on her non turbo CX-5, and the oil level is clean, but it’s a quarter inch above the highest fill dot hole.
P.s. car Sat a half an hour, and was level
That’s definitely overfilled! I put 5 qt in its right at the middle of two holes.
From what I was told by a Mazda tech they just put 5 quarts in it. They fill it until it’s just under the full mark which according to them it’s five quarts. I know the ford escapes were bad on when you change the oil and put oil in. It looks like you overfilled it by 2 quarts or something.
This happens with loads of vehicles not just mazda always use the dipstick never trust service data completely 👍
It needs 5.1, their online manual has it.
Go up to 5 quarts
ok I see 2 issues with this video first its 5.1 qts of oil and the number 2 issue with this video when checking oil after it sits over night its going to be cold and thats not when you want to check the level drive it so it gets up to operating temps first then shut off the engine let the oil drain back into the oil pan then check the level
Um no. Check oil cold. It’s what the Mazda manual says to do. Nice try!
My 2024 cx5 Turbo says 5.1 quarts, and to bring the engine up to operating temperature, then shut it off, wait 5 mins and THEN check the oil.
It’s because you’re using liters and it’s supposed to be gallons. 😂
🤔🤣
U are actually wrong, and he's right 4.8 LITERS = ( equal 😂) 5.1 quarts. ANY clearer than that, you might need to go back to grade 2, AND not skipping ANY classes.
Thank me later
BORING
You’re boring.
Not boring at all to people that are looking for this exact info.
@@that_jamesguyactually this is good information to have! I’m about to do an oil change on my friend’s car…he has the CX-30 2.5L turbo. Something to look out for anyway. Thanks! 👍🏼
my advice to you stop doing your own oil change and have a shop do it it is obvious you have no idea what you are doing there is no such thing as a dipstick calibration
There is in the diesel world.
I just put the whole 5 litre jug atop busting ballz man
