Back a long and winding road, towards the salt marshes, there’s a place that’s inspires every young boy that has the fortunate opportunity of going there: Camp Chewonki.
This is one of the songs we sang at the campfire every week. All God’s Critters, Peace, River, so many improv sessions, and then this. I loved this song, but it’s not available on CD. It’s not available on iTunes or Amazon Music, or even Spotify. It’s only available on a record, or to be experienced as a young boy at summer camp. I hadn’t heard this song since 1998… Until now :-)
I was fortunate enough to come across the LP that this song debut on. I used my Orbit Plus turntable (with a Ortofon 2M Red cartridge), and Logic Pro to digitize the beloved song. I also used Audacity to remove as much of the background noise and hiss as possible.
It’s not perfect, but it’s a start :-) It’s been over twenty years since I've heard this song, and it’s EXACTLY as I remembered it. Truly a blessing. If you’re building your first house too, or moving into one, I can't think of a more appropriate song to play than this one……
