- I bought Makita's Track Saw with an extension rail kit from Amazon. The kit from Amazon isn't clear on what's needed to extend the rails. You need the 2 pack in order to join the rails. This video goes through what you need to get the most from your track saw. Overall I love this saw. It makes cutting full sheets of plywood way easier and safer!

Hi. Have you ever put a straight edge against your cut to see if there is any day light between the straight edge and the piece you cut ? I appreciate your input. Thanks.
i didn`t get you point to buy 2pak with the ref that you showed , i thing this pack will do the job Ref Pair Connectors For Track Guide For Saw SP6000J Makita 198885-7????? please to give more explanation because this is not Clair ?
I got the Makita about 6 months ago and love it. I'm just a DIYer and it's made a tremendous deference in the quality of my work around the house. It's winter now and I probably won't use it again for 6 months. Should I keep the batteries charged or just let them die for the winter?
Agree. A game changer. I’ve heard you want to store batteries partially charged
Hi. Nice presentation. If I take the cut piece and put it against a level , do I see daylight? Please advise. Thanks
I think it all depends on how closely you line it up. You would probably see just a sliver but very very minimal. Mine was very straight
I went with the TSO connectors for my Makita set-up as both the Festool and Makita versions are more than a bit sloppy.
Wow I’ll have to check those out! Aligning the makita ones is the worst part so if these self align I’m sold. Do you need to use a straight edge to get it lined up or do they truly self align?
@@homehackshowtos actually I just popped them in and tightened it all up without any straight edge then before I made my first cut I double checked by running a string line from end to end. Needless to say there was no detectable slop! A little tip i learned when joining guide rails is to leave a very slight gap 0.5-1mm in between to allow for any inconsistency in the ends of the rails.
Hiya mate. So one of the connectors goes on the top side and the other goes on the bottom side of the rail??
Yes
I was a little worried about installing the blade after reading a couple of reviews. But it was amazingly easy. Took about 1 minute. Works great czcams.com/users/postUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c . Cuts easily and is perfect for pocket cuts I needed to make for replacing some old deck boards.
Yeah every time I use the saw I’m thankful I bought it. My only complaint is that the depth gauge is in mm and not inches.
You do not need two kits to connect a track. You've optionally added a connector on the top of the rail; it's not necessary.
The track is not rigid with only 1. Yes it possible with one but for smooth operation without the saw catching while passing the seam you need 2. This makes it straight and it acts as one piece. I originally thought the same thing and only had 1.
Did you notice the sparks from the saw on your cut
Yes I did see that and watched it a few times to figure out what it was. There was no steel under the cut. When reviewing the video I thought it was a car that drove down the street behind me. I think the dust distorted the lights.
Buy the Festool connectors. They are much better.
I will have to look at them. Thanks for sharing.
So how are they supposed to be connected & were...? SERIOUSLY ❓️
I was told 2 bars that go together underneath the end nubs facing the top with the shorter pieces on top of the longer piece...
Soooooo.... you're saying you need another one on top..❓️
Can you show how this is actually supposed to be put together please... thx much Steph
Yes the shorter piece is on top of the longer piece and you do this in both notches
@@homehackshowtos bottom & Top... 👍Gottchya Thank You...
Would have been nice if...🙄 someone had actually said this from makita.... good lord
@@stephaniecalvo2638 yeah not sure why they sell them individually
@@homehackshowtos another question 🤔
The depth stop Guage reads
10 20 30 40 50 ❓️
Is there a calculation to inches.. ?
Yes, google millimeters to inches
Ok two pack, one pack don't get the one get the two. Got it. If you show these connectors actually connecting or DO the installation of these connectors and show where the second one CONNECTS then this video would be very informative. This video just makes me want to start my own CZcams channel for the sole purpose of showing how to connect these two tracks.
I show at 0:40 and 2:40. Once you have the tracks and pieces it’s very straightforward and simple. The problem is they don’t explain online that you need two packs.
How’s that CZcams channel of yours coming along James?

Helluva speech
This seems like a complete waste of money
Why?
After using one for a day you will appreciate it. My brother in law does construction for a living. After making cabinets with my track saw for an afternoon he said he wanted one.
@JDT64 the cost is fairly high if you already have and are proficient with a circular saw and table saw. You can get a nice jobsite Dewalt tablesaw and a nice makita circular saw, both come with new blades and will cost you the same as this one saw with the extra guide to cut 8 feet. The only benefit I see is accuracy, but that is achievable with the tablesaw and circular saw, which are also capable of so much more. I don't see a need to add this tool to my truck considering the price.
If the costs come down significantly I might get one. Doesn't seem likely tho
no need to buy a MAKITA track kit with the METRIC depth gauge that you dont understand paying $800.00 un - necessarily. you can simply buy the TRACKING that comes with an adapter plate for your existing saw! save $750.00!
Anyone who has ever used a track saw knows you are wrong :)
Not the same buddy
There is play in those setups. I purchased the kreg one and returned it. Precision and repeatability is key when making cabinets, etc. and that’s what this Makita track saw gives you.
