Game: Dragon Warrior
System: NES
Version: (US)
This is the longplay of the game Dragon Warrior, an RPG game developed by Chunsoft for the Famicom and published by Enix (currently known as Square Enix) in Japan in 1986 as Dragon Quest, and in North America by Nintendo in 1989 for the NES.
The story begins in the fictional land of Alefgard where in the past a hero named Erdrick (Loto, in the original Japanese) saved the world from darkness using a magical item, the sphere of light, an orb capable of warding off evil with its glow. . After bringing peace to the kingdom, Erdrick then leaves the sphere with King Lorik (Lars, in Japan), ruler of Tantegel, the capital of the kingdom.
Many years later, Tantegel's palace is attacked by the evil Dragonlord, the game's great villain. In this attack, Princess Gwaelin (in Japan, Laura) is kidnapped and with her also the sphere of light, Alefgard is then taken over by monsters and the kingdom enters into complete chaos. King Lorik then summons the game's protagonist, a descendant of the hero Erdrick, with the aim of rescuing the princess, defeating the Dragonlord, recovering the sphere of light and returning peace to the kingdom.
The game system is relatively simple, with turn-based combat and fights to obtain gold to buy weapons, protections, items and experience to level up, as well as attack, defense and healing spells. In the game we only control the hero, who does not have a defined name (it must be defined by the player). The entire game we only control this character, who must pass through cities, caves and a relatively extensive map.
The game was developed by Yuji Horii (designer), Koichi Sugiyama (composer) and Akira Toriyama (character designer). The game was a huge success in Japan, but it took a while to achieve notoriety in the United States, where it was given as a gift to subscribers of Nintendo Power magazine. Dragon Quest was one of the first Japanese turn-based role-playing games to have widespread success and is considered a pioneer in the development of the genre. After Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy and other franchises arrived in video games. It's a good game, but relatively challenging, the player needs to climb many levels and be well equipped to avoid problems. The game was played in an entire playthrough normally and then a save before the last boss to face it at the maximum level. I hope you enjoy the video. - Hry
RIP Akira Toriyama (1955-2024) 🕊🕊🕊
In honor of Akira Toriyama 😢
Rest in peace, Akira Toriyama. I love that you did this playthrough as a tribute. It's also an amazing game, so it'll be fun watching this!
Akira! We miss you already!!! You will always be the GOAT of Mangeka
In memory of Akira Toriyama. Thank you for the upload 😢.
May he rest in peace 😢.
Although, even if someone may succeed him one day. It won't be the same anymore.
unfortunaly
the graphics, what a horror! I finished this dragon warrior there, but the snes version. Well done Raven :)
The RPG where it's you (the Warrior of Loto/Erdrick) have to face monsters one-on-one. The monsters don't call for allies, but they can try to get him in every which direction he goes.
Akira Toriyama, huzzah!
🌹RIP Akira, God rest his Japanese Anime Cartoon soul!🌹😩
Happy 16th anniversary, xRavenXP!!
🇧🇷🎉🎉🎉🎉
Praise Dragon Quest Series and Akira Toriyama. Thank you for creating such a wonderful serie. Its hard to decide on the favorite Part. Maybe DQ3 because i did Maps for GBC, SNES and NES, DQ5 coz of the Generation of Father to Son and then finally to 2 children. DQ7 was awesome too coz i spend about 300 hors or more on it to find all Jobs, City nuilding. DQ6 isnt bad either. ARGH. cant decide.
He made the dragon warrior series? If so rest in peace
Didn't realize Toriyama was involved in the development. My all-time favorite RPG. Never forget the memories I have when first playing it in 1989 with some friends. The simplicity of it is part of it's charm and that score is so damn catchy!
The music from all old game is guld.memories😭🎮🥰👋

Hey, my man watches UCBVG
Will you be doing more Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest longplays, not just for us, but to honor Akira Toriyama’s memory, as well?
Yes. I had already recorded this video a long time ago and had not yet recorded the other Dragon Quest videos, but I will do so. This is not only a way to remember Akira Toriyama's legacy, but also to explore a franchise that I and many people love.
Have you played Genghis Khan for the NES?
The Hero's name is Hero...
Playing Dragon Warrior in honor of Akira Toriyama.😢
