Just merge the iPad Pro and the MacBook and call it the MacPad Pro
Wouldn’t that just be the iPad Pro if it had good software? 😂🤷🏻
Shhh 🤫 you can’t make sense, Apple wants you to think it’s a new product
Kinda taking a page out of Nintendo’s book. Combining two things into one.
Been saying this since 2018, this is never happening at this point…
Just don't let it have IOS
Laptops have peaked. Now the only way to go forward is to do whacky shit that not many people will use. Laptops have peaked and is a fully tapped market
Completely agree touchscreen is great but I want a keyboard.
It peaked around 2020
Yep
@@4megapetereally? I thought windows laptops started getting good to rival macbooks like with battery life while also being thin last yr or was it 2022?
@@user-me1mv4vy9qthat's mainly because Apple tends to buy first dibs on bleeding edge TSMC nodes before compeitors as they're willing to pay more for it. That on top of ARM allowed Apple to get a major battery life bonus, hence why it took AMD a while to catch up, as AMD is generally speaking, second in line in terms of who gets dibs of TSMC's nodes CPU wise.
I love the stare Matt has when Austin goes on a monologue response.
Editing effects in this video were a banger
I think the BlackBerry Storm taught us that the physical press touchscreen kinda sucks. I think they should put the taptic engine in it. Make it vibrate at that point with actuation, like the force touch home button from the Galaxy Note 9.
I'm not sure if that's what they meant, Apple's style would be closer to something like putting a tactic engine the size of the whole screen under it, and being able to make it vibrate where you press it.
I’m just imagining the dual-screen MacBook as 2 iPads hot glued together LMAO
When I first started tapping into music production a few years ago, I only had the budget for the 9th gen iPad at the time, which is a great tablet and what I use occasionally for drawing and other things today. When I got into college, I needed something more reliable and got the M1 MacBook Air, which I drive everyday. From my experience, the iPad is a good companion piece, a relaxation device. The MacBook is for getting actual tasks done that you otherwise wouldn't want to do. I get more work done by using my M1 Air more than the iPad.
That being said, a 20" inch folding iPad/MacBook would be interesting. The best thing I can come up with to as why Apple is working on this at all is for artists. I giant screen for artwork, maybe music production, or possibly video editing. Will be crazy expensive though and won't make much of a dent if any in current sales I presume.
I got an ipad and apple pencil with a logitech combo touch, which is a case with a detachable magnetic keyboard and trackpad. I had hoped that I wouldn't need a laptop, but it didn't work out that way. Ios is too limited for me to use it as a laptop replacement. My ipad is for reading and drawing with procreate these days. I've used a lot of touch screen laptops, so when I got a macbook air, the first thing I tried to do was touch a text field on the screen and start typing. Didn't work. A folding or 2 screen macbook with a physical keyboard and trackpad, that has full iphone and ipad app support, and apple pencil charging and support is a dream device.
Anyone notice the jars of peanut butter and jelly in the back?!? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Once I read this I did
@@4megapete 🤣🤣🤣
It's because it's time..... for peanut butter and jelly
@@guadalupe8589 it's peanut butter jelly time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I tapped into the Ipad Pro because it was offered with a data plan, and it's more user-friendly for the music school im attending. It does suck os wise, but the usability is amazing. Still wish I had a Macbook Air to run with it.
If the kernel of MacOS is Debian, a form of Linux, and if you use VM Wear on a toch screen, there is touch functionality. Debian also has a touch screen GUI
I actually agree with Mat on touchscreens on laptops. Even when I have a laptop that has one I never use it.
It’s so niche but professional classical musicians are switching in mass to the 12.9” IPad solely because of its large screen size (and apps have the capability to turn pages by winking/making faces at the camera) the idea of a bigger one in any capacity would of warrant an instant purchase fro me
Edit - additionally a stylus is essential to make markings all over the score, I can travel with 1000s of pages of music rather than books and binders
I would want iPad is on that. I don’t like Mac but I do like my iPad experience.
Also it would be awesome to open the whole thing and use it landscape mode when remote gaming
The future will certainly be that components all will be small enough anyways. So the choice will just what formfactor you want or need. Same power however you want.
It reminded of Lenovo yoga 9i
I think they should do a 12-14in folding iPad with a magnetic keyboard that snaps on top of one side of the screen. You could still use the touch keyboard, but to me that would fill that middle ground between the iPad and the MacBook.
I absolutely hate touch screen laptops. It is the fingerprints. It is the awkwardness of moving my hands off the keyboard to the screen instead of using the trackpad or mouse.
The dual screen is a lot better imo. They're just so much more durable. You need that for a laptop.
Just because they sre working on something new/odd, does not mean that they are currently planning to release it.
This could just be R&D of testing different ways to compute, and maybe submit some patents (just in case they ever want to seriously pursue a new product range).
A laptop without a physical keyboard will never work. You need to be able to feel the keys under your fingers in order to properly use a keyboard
you mean digital?
The market for the ipad and the potential new folding one is probably for digital art, which they kinda didnt acknowledge
I actually think it will be the highest end macbook air.
You'll have the iPad Pro which is laptop-esque, but didn't have all the functionality but not quite.
You'll have the MacBook Air, which functions exactly as a laptop. But you don't have the convenience of a tablet for watching content/etc.
Then you'll have the MacBook Touch. It will be the ONLY device that runs MacOS with touchscreen support and combines both worlds. Laptop apps, iPad OS apps, AND functions as a tablet and laptop both. Starting at $1999 for the last expensive configuration. No keyboard included either.
i love your content
Finally! A touch capable Mac OS machine!
You should make a video comparing.. PC AND MAC... who shall win.. compare what you get with price.. processor... running games.... etc
Im with Matt on i prefer to click once than touch twice when it comes to laptops. Sometimes prefer a knub. i work with many different styles and brands. Oh yes please screw me out of the repair and refurb business more. One big screen to get one crack and f up the whole thing, no replaceable or serviceable parts. At least an ipad can have the digitiser replaced.
People are always coming up with Apple rumors like this and they're rarely accurate. Especially when it's a copy of something already being done in a Windows system.
I'm not a tech CZcamsr but I don't think Apple will ever use folding screens.
That mentioned I really want to have an iPad mini 6 one day.
I have a folding laptop already! I love it. Its called "A normal laptop"
I'd like it if Apple dropped all the processing from the vision pro. Still kept the spacial sensors. Let it connect to a Mac mini and give your desktop a spacial screen. Sell it for a premium monitor cost. And let me live my matrix dream.
They overcharge for the actually useful technology. That’s what pleasing investors over customers does to a company.
I need to spend 5k to get an actually capable machine that will last for a few years. All that and they still solder everything so that you can’t upgrade yourself. It’s crazy how much we as consumers let up.
Lenovo made a laptop that has an Android tablet on top and a Windows OS in the bottom part of the laptop.
If Apple could do something like that for the iPad Pro + Air, you could have an interesting device here.
The starting price would probably be both combined 😂
Imagine the price. What a nightmare that would be 😂
I think they NEED to be making macOS touch friendly. It's frankly insane that it isn't yet considering they pioneered our modern concepts of touchscreen with the iPhone. The Vision Pro experience with macOS is garbage. Making the OS touch-screen compatible will go a long way to helping that.
What I have never understood is why they haven't just made a keyboard body of the MacBook Pro with its own specs and such that has a dock connector and such to connect the iPad Pro to it and that way you have double the storage double the RAM and a tablet when you want it and a MBP when you need it. Imagine if they optimized apps for single or dual setups like this? Apple would reign supreme and people would absolutely buy it.
It worked for the surface book
Because they would need to have apps optimized for not only the base iPad and the iPad Pro, but also the iPad Pro with the Magic Keyboard Pro+ Max Ultra Plus Fold 5G Ultra Foliobook Platinum XS 2 ZL1 15” Eddi Bauer X Hermès Gold edition 4S Max and it would just take too long to write that on the keynote to announce it.
@@bowlingdoughnutsmd3703It didn’t, which is why Microsoft discontinued the Surface Book. Now you have the Laptop Studio and Laptop Go.
Why is this gonna be a thing when Apple brought out vision pro?
They need to think a little bit harder on that because they are copying the lenova ThinkPad X1
Foldable oled
Or FOLeD?
Copyright that
Hey! I have found a video that uses a small bit of your video of the playstation portal. The video mentions a gadget that is dropshopped, and may be a complete scam. I do not know a lot about youtube guidelines, but i suspect, that you may have the right to forcefully take down that video. It is not so important, but if I see a video that has parts that are stolen, I feel like that I have to let the original creator know. (Pls like the post, so it has a bigger chance that someone of the team sees it) I'll send the link privately if you need it.
The ipad, lost between power hungry unoptimized/cut down version of mac apps and as an alternative drawing tablets for artists of 2/3d.
this... is gonna cost more then the vision, and macbook pro combined
arent they just compying stuff from ces?
Apple always waits for someone else to perfect something and then claim it themselves
They did that a long, long time ago...when they ripped off Unix to make Mac OS.
@@Whadup95No!
Knowing Apple ... they'll somehow engineer to force you take ut back for some sort of repair which gets people to upgrade to a "better" device
I'll go ahead and say it as someone who has used a screen for a keyboard before. It will never work having a screen as a keyboard in less you want to spend all you're time staring at you're keyboard to remember you're placement. Also pretty sure Apple wants to kill of "Mac" and just have the ipad/iphone ecosystem be the only system.
honesty not a fan of this is but i was intregued by this video
finally
Apple is for people that like to spice up missionary.
The *OS*
Stay away from Apple's wall gardened and monopoly App store if you value control, ownership and freedom of your software. The freedom of an OS is NOT talked about enough or often ignored.
the achievement got me along with the extra ten inches
What is the point of having a dual screen with a keyboard taking up 1/3 of the realestate? Just have a keyboard and 2 full screens....it defeats the purpose having an on screen keyboard at all.
Folding screens are a gimmick
Another THIS IS
people would buy it anyways for the flex factor and to boost low self esteem
they will claim they invented, they are not gonna call foldable, and they are not gonna call it MacBook... it's apple we are talking about
Siiuuuu
I just want clicky buttons. Oh god i feel so old.
I have the zenbook duo, the new one. It's a god damn gift. I love it. Got it for $2000 with taxes. Apple is going to build one in 2026 for $7500 lmao
Regular iPads as a companion devices to a Mac or a PC can significantly improve productivity for most regular and pro users. Meanwhile, the iPad Pro are pointless, especially the larger ones because most pro ursers never will never use one as their primarily computer device. Plus, nobody outside the arts and design business needs an :all screen" macbook, but it will sale like hotcakes all because its apple and will start at 3000 usd.
physical is obsolete. its XR or nothing
mouse and keyboard are too refined to go full XR. Im typing this from my Quest 3 in Immersed with a mouse keyboard combo device,
Don't Forget...
The HINGE Costs $1499.99 on its own;
NOT Including the iPad x2 Co$t LOL
'Screelestate'
Multi thousand dollar computer with a hideous crease in the middle...good luck with that
Microsoft being too early in the game... as usual lol!
at this point apple should just put ios on the macbooks and keep the mac os for desktop only cause ipads are becoming laptops at this point
If anyone can make it work and not suck its apple. I mean the OS would still be terrible but....
Probably charge 10k for it and claim they invented it.
imacpad
How is it gonna cost, $420,069?
One has touch screen lol
You're both completely wrong on iMac customers. Since about 2013 the iMac has become the most practical Apple computer for the professional environment. The Laptops are simply not large enough for practical use for things like design, photo retouching, video editing and post production, layout production, etc. due to their minuscule size.
And the iMac featuring a high quality Retina display means you get a powerful machine with an excellent machine, and up until the M1 series when and where they removed the capability to upgrade Ram at all and they insultingly maxed them out with ALL of 16 meager Gigs of Ram.
Now the M3 model, while faster and a robust machine, maxes out at all of 24Gigs of Ram and in 2024 that just isn't enough, and there is simply NO REASON to prevent customers from upgrading anything on the machine. Tim Cooke needs to go since before Steve Jobs died! The guy is a complete moron to make these types of calls.
These aren't iPhones, they are COMPUTERS FFS!!!
Your videos are really impressive! We're currently on the lookout for influencers who can create content showcasing our PC cases in youtube. If you're up for it, please shoot us a quick reply. Thanks!
Oh look... another gimmicky product for the show-offs.
I have a MacBook and am pretty sure it’s not obsolete 👎🏻
😂😂
Rambling review with two guys ranting and raving. I you want it buy it, otherwise...
1st here great vid
If you're using a regular iPad you're either a kid or an old person or an idiot😂 I know a lot of people have to prose because it's good at gaming and the regular is trash course😅
