Excellent advice for structuring a learning framework to learn Spanish! I would like to try your Caminos program but am uncertain as to my readiness for it. At what point do you think a learner is ready to join a Caminos session? I have been doing self study for about four months now. My self study includes most of the basic elements you recommend -- a structured self-study program (LearnCraftSpanish), two reference books (Routledge's "New Reference Grammar of Modern Spanish" and Difusion's "Gramatica Basica") as well as subscriptions to several CZcams channels that regularly provide short stories with English subtitles and presentations like TedX in Spanish. I think I have a fairly stable understanding of grammar basics and how to form simple sentences. But I am slow to verbally respond to dialogue questions. I still cannot spontaneously assemble all the elements of a grammatically correct response. I have nobody to verbally practice with.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. From what you describe, it sounds like you are absolutely ready for Caminos sessions (probably the Apprentice version for the more beginner level). A fairly stable understanding of how to form simple sentences is perfect. Both for the beginners and intermediate sessions, you can see the weekly theme ahead of time, the daily sub-topic of that theme, vocabulary words, and sample dialogue. That will help you prepare ahead of time. Our learners (even our intermediate ones) really appreciate the ability to be able to prepare so that they get the most out of the sessions. Not being able to spontaneously assemble all the elements of a grammatically correct response is completely normal at this stage and common among those in the Apprentice version of our classes. You'll benefit from the corrections that the teachers will provide. 😊 I have a special offer this week, if you'd like to take a look: ericaraylanguage.com/caminosnov
