    To think were watching this video nearly 40 years later.
    That 40 years previously, when this was filmed.
    It was just after World War 2 had ended in Europe, on the 8th of May 1945.
    With Japans surrender in August 1945.
    .......................................................................
    It`s interesting to slow the video down.
    You get a better view of the shops, & people.
    And the music stil sounds good.

    Good to see old style Cas when it wasn't full of vape shops, Turkish barbers, nail bars, European mini markets full of crap pop & tat & numerous take-aways all selling the same food, Just genuine shops that provided the local community with the everyday essentials.
    If I had a time machine I wouldn't hesitate to go back ... Who's coming with me ??🤔

      Along with Asda, supermarket There was Bakers, & Grandways, in town.
      Also Currys, Valances, & the Tv & video rental shops. For all your electrical needs.
      Plenty of clothes, Shoe shops.etc, etc, etc......
      And free parking at the time, was a lot better than online shopping.

    Didn't know it at the time, but 1985 was one of the best years of my life, i didn't have much but i had it all if that makes sense. Unforgettable part of my life.

      Same here. I was one of Maggie Thatcher's Army (the 3 million unemployed) so basically bugger all money. 🙁 But I had my youth and perfect health. Those are things you can never get back again.

    Wonderful video, really quite interesting. A time when we had shops and Bezos was just a future nightmare.

    Its incredible how the vehicles change in just 10 years between 1985 to 1995! We dont realise how things change so quick

      Too true . Mainly fords and Vauxhalls - great days looking back from the nightmare we have now.

    • @easydrive3662
      @easydrive3662 Před měsícem +1

      @@muckle8 from the video you can see that roughly 50% of cars are fords and vauxhalls and the rest made up of french cars, german makes and a splattering of far east motors, guess it would be nissan, datsun, toyota mainly back then.
      I dont have a problem with SUVs, there all pretty decent looking things but they all look the same, too many of them and the roads are too cluttered now

    • @muckle8
      @muckle8 Před měsícem

      I hate SUV,s - can’t see the point of them at all - they also are difficult to see past/through when following , I’m adamant these vans with windows must be increasing the accident rate in the Uk.

    Judging by the number of Vauxhall Vivas I would say before 1985

    • @speakfreeley4473
      @speakfreeley4473 Před 2 měsíci +3

      HC Vivas ceased production at the end of 1979 after being produced for nearly a decade. Back then (1985) they would have still been a highly common sight on UK roads.

    I would say 85 is right , IIH
    Sadly the Datsun? Cherry Coupe came out the same year , those

    I used to run a Butchers Shop in Cheshire at that time , great years ( early 80s Great Music , Then Madonna turned - up , couldn't hold a Fuckin Note!) , Nip to the Phone Box , put ya 10p in , or a 5p if you where quick ... Finish with yer then Mrs ...then off out Clubbin the next night , Charmin the Ladies ! None of this Shitfaced Or Twatter Bollox! You had to ASK EM in person !
    I used to take £300- £500 to the Post Office ( Bank ) in those days , LOT OF MONEY THEN ...under a Bloodied Apron , most days , same time 2pm ish , not once did I worry about being Robbed ....
    I Shit it now if there is a Tenner in my Wallet ....
    My Mum & Dad where still quite young then , I took the Piss and took them for Granted for a while ....as 18 -21 year olds do .,
    I learned later to cherish them ...
