Would you also consider the xdm for recording music? Specifically for singing? Looking for a usb mic for gaming, podcasting and singing on the side
How did you connect the rode x to unify it wouldn’t let me connect my ride to the software
tho you have acoustic panels on the wall... why are there reverbs with xcm 100 ?
I tried the Rode NT USB mini and wasn't really impressed. Is the XCM-50 noticeably better?
Glad to see Rode giving Elgato a run for its money in the streaming space. Upset that the unity software gives you sub mixes that the Rodecaster Pro 2 doesn't. But one software update can fix that. And both mics look great. Shout out to Rode for giving Elgato some competition.
It look like they just eedesigned the procaster and the rode nt mini and added software that makes it better for streaming
This microphone is the best solution. I am really surprised on how it sounds. I hope I can buy this microphone to kickstart my streaming journey for my podcast
Well, I would love to see a detailed comparison between Rode X Unify and Elgato Wave Link. I use an Elgato Wave 1 with Wave Connect whereas I've used a Rode NT-USB Mini for more than a year now. In my view the Wave Link software has the option of adding VST plugins whereas the Rode Connect doesn't, and it looks like Rode X Unify also doesn't. I also checked the Rode website and it says that we need to pay in order to use Rode X Unify with mics which are not in the Rode X line, which includes my NT-USB Mini. That is sad being in a country like Sri Lanka. So I'm looking forward to the comparison very soon.
rode connects is now basically rode x unify with the new update but with a little less features
Unify reminds me of a simplified version of Loopback for Mac .
Niw that's a useful and great review - also because it's done by a radio professional. Well done!
That XCM50 Tripod would be a great addition to the Rode NT USB Mini, which sits way too low on the desk.
Nice video, unify the right way but what I dont like with USB mic you listen through what? The onboard sound chip good sound interface sounds better. And who to use usb mic in dual streaming setup? Rode, give the roadcaster pro submixes and we are all buy it
I think it's a bit of a shame that you don't go into more detail about the XCM-50 in terms of background noise and whether you can minimize it with Unify’s NoiseGate
Yea Not just the xcm 50…Both the xcm and xdm 100 had echoes!!!!😊
I am confused. What is the difference between mics for "streaming and gaming" and any other mics? I have watched several reviews of the X series and everyone unanimously says "Great for streaming and gaming". ???? Cam, I just throw this in my travel kit and plug the USC C into my Macbook Pro or iPad and start recording? Just saw your comment saying that Mac OS and iOS are not supported. Wow - that just cut out a huge portion of the content creator base - 100% of creators using FCPX to edit video content won't be able to use the Rode X Series.
Cannot decide between Rode XDM-100 and Shure MV7.. Currently using Blue Yeti X
All great mics! You'd get ground sound from either. I'd try looking at the little details that are important to you rather than sound quality.
@@Radiodotco thank you! I've bought Rode XDM-100, and i didn't liked it on my voice, so i just replaced it with Shure MV7 😅
What was the problem with XDM-100?
@@thevijayraj34 oh brother i don't remember all of it, but i think my ac was heard way too much in background because my room isn't isolated good enough.
Must admit I feel a little conned with rode, I bought the rodecaster pro 2 on the basis it was aimed at streamers and gamers, I made the jump from goxlr to it. It certainly had teething issues but they made several updates and it works ok to a certain degree. But the unify software with sub mixes is exactly what us streamers are after. I’m hearing the software won’t be compatible with the rcp2 for now! Basically wasted a shed load of money on the hardware
yup, same. I left a comment on their channel about that. Seems a bit ridiculous they release this without any support for users that use the rodecaster with a sm7b. Every company releasing these apps basically ignore us. Rather frustrating because I aint parting with my SM7B anytime soon lol. If I didn't have a rodecaster or SM7B I would be all for this.
@@DJSkandalous same I have mic, I’m hoping the usb mics have some presence as the software does exactly everything that we need! Surely the rcp2 will have some integration at some point
podcaster is not plastic and i have it
Why did this sound like a paid announcement?
Quite possibly because Rode makes extremely good microphones?
@@ALazyMeme If you put "review" you should talk about pros and cons
XCM-50 = eco 👀

Man the XCM-50 is terrible, horribly sibilant and just makes you hate listening to it, i dont know who would want this mic. NT-USB is by far better and the same price
