@Dom Hard to say if the band would have gone on to where they are today if Bruce hadn't come aboard. That being said, I love the vintage Di'anno tunes. When he wasn't screaming he had a really incredible voice. Love you too, Bruce. :)

He wasn't a pilot in 1990. He left the band after Fear of the Dark (1992) to TRAIN to become one. He only became a full pilot around a year before the Somewhere back in Time tour (2008/09)

I read an article in a magazine... (can't remember which one)...but the article talked about some of the British military troops that were coming home on leave, some of the troops were going to have to wait almost a month because of lack of flights.
Bruce Dickinson found out & flew many troops home more than once on Ed Force One...

Actually this was the third "Ed Force One", the first two, were for the "SBIT" and "Final Frontier" tours were 757's, but I get your point, this one, being a 747 makes it even bigger and more epic.

I only consider myself to be a lukewarm Iron Maiden fan, but I have nothing but respect for their accomplishments, longevity, and classiness. And to have your frontman piloting the 747 that takes you on a worldwide tour is nothing but epic. Major props to them all!

It is awesome, but it also probably made financial sense to charter it rather buy tickets and for passengers and pay for shipping kit or renting it on location.

I once met Paul Dianno backstage after a gig, he was the first singer of Maiden, he was quite good and very friendly. That was in my metaldays, this video remembered me...ahaha ;-).

I just discovered Iron Maiden and i am really about to love this band. I listen to Techno and electronic music for more than 30 years, but i always was Open minded for everything else in the world of music.
Bruce is such an amazing and very nice man, a fantastic musician, a great singer and also a pilot of this huge airplane. It's a man that gets the biggest respect from me. He is amazing!

Germany has two A340-300s, two A319s, one A321, multiple Gulfstream G VI and is going to receive the world's first VIP A350 later this year after the A340 developed a habit of breaking down.
In all honesty, it doesn't take much to make the heads of state of Germany and France look like a joke. :3

Bruce is always professional. He gets respect from people because he acts and conducts himself with class and dignity and he's a humble guy. It is kudos to his parents for raising such a wonderful son.

I have never been so impressed with a band. Including its past members, accountants, the entire organization, and fans. (Watched the documentary on the history of Maiden as well.) So accomplished, and just plain lovely folks. Thanks from the USA!

The Boeing 747-400 (actually a 428 variant), great choice of aircraft. It was built in early 2003 and was used mainly by Saudia Airlines, but was loaned to Iron Maiden for their Book Of Souls tour in 2016. Bruce is a Boeing guy, the band also used 2 narrow body Boeing 757s.

I was born in 1984 and Iron Maiden was some of the first music i ever loved (thanks to my brothers). Its been one of the wonders in my life to this day.

wish I had appreciated this band more when I was a kid! Every person in this band is an absolutely amazing musician! I was too young and stupid to realize it back in the 80's! Thank God they're not only still doing it, but still completely on top of their game!

This guy pilots a jet,sings very good opera type vocals, he has at least a bachelor's degree in history I can tell by his songs he sings. He's a very intelligent thanks Bruce my one of my favorite albums is piece of mind.

I am an avid radio control plane flyer/follower.. I saw a video of Bruce flying R/C foam planes inside arenas as the roadies were setting up for a show.. I thought that was super cool then I found out he had commercial pilots license and a 767 he owns and operates!!

It shows a rock legend who is humble and never arrogant unlike some of the soon to be forgotten, talent less "stars" of today, flying his own band, the greatest heavy metal band of all time, around the world on one of the biggest planes ever built..then he performs mind blowing high energy concerts to 10's of thousand of adoring fans then jumps back in the plane and flies to another country or continent and does it all again for months on end.. damn haters..I FU***NG HATE THEM !!! That's a beautiful Boeing 747-400, piloted by a very talented vocalist. I'm sure Bruce and the 1st officer had 2 back-up flight crew members for flights that exceeded 10 hours. I admire Bruce for being Iron Maiden's lead vocalist and being a flight crew member of the 747.
My grandfather went from flying bombers across the Atlantic to supply the Allies to flying airliners for some 30 years. The biggest plane he flew was the Lockheed L1011 and DC-10 Series 10, but he never flew a 747. He loved flying and everything aviation related, and I think he would have enjoyed this. Also, most people recover from cancer treatment by relaxing in their homes and working on a hobby that makes them happy. Bruce Dickinson gets trained and certified to fly a 747.
Finally, there is an issue of either Aviation History or Air & Space magazine (both great reads btw) from a few years ago and in one of the articles there is a photo of the plane they are detailing. In the background is Ed Force One!
When I first got into Maiden, it was seriously considered the devil's music by some adults. I remember being frightened of the shadows when I bought number of the beast. But I couldn't stop listening... Now look at them, 35 years later.

In Dec of 2007, me and my dad were on a charter flight to the Canary Islands from Standsted. (yes you know where this is going) But I have no idea Bruce is an airline pilot or anything about it. So as we’re de-planing, the flight crew is at the door saying goodbye and I look at this guy who looks just like a short haired Bruce Dickinson and say, “Who do people tell you that you look like?” and I swear to God he said, “Steve Harris”. So now I’m thoroughly confused because why the fuck would Bruce Dickinson be flying commercial airplanes? It kept me up at night for days until I learned that he was really an airline pilot. The End.
