So three months ago I posted on Instagram about a little bit of sartorial fun that happens from time to time. The moment of serendipity when style and sweets come together to create an image that’s picture perfect. A magical culinary occasion called Dress Like Your Treat. Basically it’s when your clothes match your food.
I often dress like my treat because there is nothing quite as delightful as when your outfit matches a milk shake or blends with a birthday cake. It’s satisfying to make a statement of delicious style. It’s my own tasty brand of Magical Nerdery
Of the various delicious style situations i often find myself in, ice cream has always been my favorite. I love Ice cream. Like Love. I have on too many occasion, whether by accident or intentionally, dressed like ice cream. In fact some of my friends do it for a living like my friend Gin Minsky. Just process this for a moment, This woman lover ice cream so much she had a full 10 piece burlesque costume built but Garo Sparo himself of Project Runway. She love ice cream so much that on instagram when you search Gin Minsky a gif of her as an ice cream comes up. You know how parents say that if you eat too much of something you’ll turn into it.That’s taking Delicious Style to new heights.
Recently my partner Darlene got something in the mail (Clip). That’s right, she purchased the Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream State Fair Collection. Challenge Accepted.
FLAVORS IN ORDER OF APPEARANCE
ATLANTIC BEACH PIE PINT

Yes, the popcorn we use to make this flavor is actually popped using the power of sunshine! The folks at BjornQorn in New York’s Hudson Valley use solar power to heat kettles filled with kernels.

They were all great, but my favorite was the Watermelon Taffy one. I just love the beautiful boldness of red and black (which happens to be my favorite color combination).
I can’t choose between the watermelon and the lavender 💛 But also, shoutout to the multicolored gingham jacket - beautiful!

Every other vintage menswear youtuber talks about how important it is to dress subdued, how you shouldn’t dress too loudly and draw attention to yourself, meanwhile you throw all that out of the water and pull some of the craziest, most colorful vintage fits I’ve seen, AND PULL IT OFF
Thanks so much! I think there is a muted trend in #menswear that makes people comfortable and the truth is for many people wearing a lot of color and patterns isn't practical in their lives. They often dress for work and not for play. I do both but I work for myself. However there are ways to incorporate color and pattern into a wardrobe while at the same time not going to the levels I do. I just think it should be done without fear. Dressing should bring you joy.
The red striped outfits were my fave. But I gotta give a shoutout to the purple perfection, too.

It looks like it was a delight to create this art. I have been inspired to spiff up my wardrobe. You are an inspiration to my sartorial journey as well. My favorite piece i have 1930 deadstock wool fedora.... i prefer classic vintage but also love ideas and culture. Orange her hair colorwithe container ,, your bowtie,,, excuse typing n shrt hnd, i use 1 hnd mostly injured,,, then i loved the all the color in with the watermelon and then of course lavender,,

Wildberry lavender was my favorite because I love seeing all those purples work so well together. That a whole outfit can thrive on a single color story but look varied and structured.
Sun-popped corn comes second because I love that wonderful clash of patterns between the outfits and the backdrop.
