  • Welcome back to Genesee & Wyoming’s Georgia Central Railway. The date is September 5th, 2020, and we’re trackside yet again in Savannah, Georgia, to follow the shortline's "wood chip local." The wood chip job, running as train symbol Y115, serves International Paper by moving wood chips from their load-out at Meldrim, Georgia to their massive mill in Savannah.

Was I the only one pleasantly surprised by the beastly horn on #1800? Definitely didn’t expect to hear that from a GP9!

I've watched this video four days in a row. I'm either bored (snowed in here in Fort Smith, Arkansas), forgot how much I loved woodchip hoppers, or love the videography. All three, actually. Love this one.

When I lived in Garden City, the Rail Link tracks ran practically through my backyard, and the CSX main was a short walk further on. This brings back many memories of hot summer afternoons spent watching trains.

I'm amazed at how sketchy a lot of these tracks are. I guess I'm used to seeing super smooth well maintained Class 1 tracks in my south Georgia/Northeast Florida area. Excellent video and camera work as usual. I'm hoping to make it up to my hometown of Swainsboro,GA soon and shoot some footage of perhaps the saddest railroad tracks in existence. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Those tracks in Swainsboro still see trains twice a week, believe it or not. Went and photographed them last week.
