  • Official Simple Little Life video of: Chiappa Little Badger - Survival Gun Review.
    The Little Badger from Chiappa is a really interesting offering. I like it so much because it's unlike any other firearms currently on the market. And, it's priced well. Great for teaching young people to shoot because it's so light, and a great option for a survival/bugout bag gun because of it's ultra compact size.

    About Simple Little Life:
    This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
    Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
    Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

    I have an Argos 22LR made in 1927. About 3lbs, break action and folding, it was originally advertised as a bicycle rifle. It has a tubular butt stock similar to this but you store ammo in it, holds 32 rounds. I cherish this little rifle and take it every time I go out hiking and camping and with an 18" barrel it's as accurate as it needs to be at 40-50 yards.

    "it looks like a rifle and fits in a backpack? this is insane ban it!" guys, this is a _small game_ light hunting rifle, it's designed to get you dinner in the case you get lost in the woods, any mid sized pistol is easily a FAR better human killing implement.
    not only is it .22, it's single shot break action, in the time it would take a shooter to kill 1 person the cops would already be there and back to the station.
    if you think this should be banned (which is stupid) you better think pellet guns should be banned too, because otherwise you clearly don't have enough knowledge to have an opinion on this kind of stuff.

You’re right - the ease of carry, versatility and efficiency when you consider hydro-shock makes .22 a viable and logical option for a survival hunting rifle. You can keep that little rifle and a lot of rounds in your go-bag and forget it’s there until you need it. I’ve never heard of this rifle and I wonder if Dave has. I’ll ask him. Thanks for a great video.

    I got mine for 115 at big 5 while I worked there (discount +coupon+ sale=savings lol)
    For the cheap price I love mine
    Fairly accurate
    Super light
    Feels sturdy
    I shoot mine regularly and it's still very clean and easy to use/clean.
    Love that I can put different attachments on the rails.
    Comes with a little backpack bag that sits nicely concealed under my hiking pack.
    If you're looking for cheap, fairly reliable little .22 peashooter type gun honestly I'd recommend this.
    It's also great for kids, my nieces and nephews love this thing, barely any recoil so it's not as scary after the first shot, gets them interested and we've done lots of gun safety lessons with this thing for my friends kids cuz it's such a good fit for small arms and hands.

      Even for that it's garbage. It would take you like 5-10 seconds to get this thing out and ready to fire. So someone could easily just tackle you or whoever you are after could just book it.
      You would have way better odds just stabbing them or something, and a knife doesn't have to be reloaded.

    Why wouldn't someone just carry a .22 pistol instead?

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  Před 8 lety +8

      Because that's illegal in Canada. Unless you have an active trap line. Besides, if I were stuck in the wilderness, this would be a way better gun to have than a pistol of any caliber. Far more accurate.

    • @nacholibre1962
      @nacholibre1962 Před 8 lety +2

      A trap line is not the only acceptable condition for a carry permit. There are many other activities/occupations than can qualify. However, you are correct that a .22 rifle is better than a pistol.

      As some who owns a ruger 10/22 for about 8 years now and invested more than a thousand dollars in it i can tell you that you will never be able to get a Ruger 10/22 down into the size of this rifle. The way the Ruger is made just prevents it from being able to be this compact. Even if you spend an extra 120$ on a folding stock for the 10/22 it still wouldnt be that small. Right now my ruger 10/22 is set up with a Revolution wooden thumbhole stock, a Power Custom trigger set, a TacSol barrel, TacSol trigger, TacSol compensator, Trijicon RMR red dot sight. Its a fuckin bad ass of a .22 rifle. But it still isnt something that fills the role of this Badger gun. 200 bucks and you can grab this, stock it with a handful of ammo and fold it up and put it anywhere. This rifle is in a category all its own, its even better than the Henry Survival Rifle in my opinion.

    • @fireguy9727
      @fireguy9727 Před 7 lety

      tronclay the Ruger 10/22 takedown comes apart into a pretty compact package and if you're really in a pinch for space I suppose you could replace the butt stock with a folding stock and get a pretty compact and handy gun that comes with its own backpack,

    • @Simplelittlelife
      @Simplelittlelife  Před 8 lety +1

      yup, pistols shoot more rounds. In Canada, you can't carry a pistol though. Only those who make a living on trap lines are giving carry permits for handguns. Other than that it's a lot of work to be able to own a handgun including proof of membership at a register shooting range. And that's the only place you're allowed to fire your handgun. If handguns were easier to own here, I'd consider one for sure. But for harvesting meat in the woods, I'd take a .22 single shot rifle over a handgun anyway.
      Ultimately though, just a personal preference thing. Cheers!

      Not sure if you are aware of the Henry AR-7. It's a survival rifle that you can take apart and store its components in its own stock, which floats. It might be a better option for you as its a little bigger than this badger and has room for two magazines.
