On the dilemma, the guys speak from the perspective of a younger man and someone brought up abroad, but flavour speaks with experience and also like a man who is culturally grounded.
I'm not a man nor am I igbo, but I also understand flavour's view. There is a movie called AFAMEFUNA on Netflix, something like this happened and the man took the child as his.

On the dilemma, I think the trust is broken. Is the woman sorry? Can the man really live with her? It's ok to separate from or divorce her but give the children a chance to stay in the UK. I think that's enough. The family shouldn't pressure him to do more. It's too big an ask!
I agree with most of what Flavour says. Tests will come but not everyone will marry a deceitful, manipulative partner.
