The 2005 League Cup Final saw Rangers lift the trophy for the 24th time in a final that paid tribute to a veteran of both sides, Davie Cooper. Goals from Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Nacho Novo, Maurice Ross, and a 30-yard Fernando Ricksen Free kick ensured a comfortable victory over Motherwell who were unable to get back into the game despite a goal from David Partridge.
