- Manayunk's Main Street Music and other record stores enjoyed a boost in their sales as Taylor Swift released her new album Friday. The record store teamed up with a Philadelphia restaurant to cater to "Swifties." Also, you have to check out Sheila Watko's "The Tortured Poets Department"-inspired traffic report.

She started country from small label and made her way to be biggest of big back in 2015 all by being in small country label. I know for a fact katy perry, rihanna, lady gaga were under biggest label and had more marketing behind her but Taylor ate them up . She only joined republic record back in 2018 when she already became artist of decade. Saying marketing derived her carrear over relatable music is lame joke of excuse to undermine her talent.
@nicolef2147 In the grand scheme of things, if you compare Taylor's history with releasing variants to other artists, she is about average. And if you add various artist's "greatest hits" types of albums, she is not bad at all. Taylor rarely has more than a few variants. Some major artists have over a dozen variants of some albums.

Greatest hits actually helps people collect their favourite songs while only having to buy 1 record instead of all the different albums so it’s the exact opposite imo.
@@wesselvisser5042 But I've listened to the entire anthology 3 times on Spotify already, and I have not paid anything. So how is she "forcing" anyone to do anything? (except to the extent that, say, the USPS "forces" stamp collectors to buy a zillion different types of postage stamps).
Actually, I do plan to eventually download the anthology in iTunes, but that's only because I love the albums so much that I want own it, even though I don't technically have to own it. But nobody will be forcing me to do that.
CD is better get them before they discover that.
