These wheels would be great for someone teaching slalom inline skating. It shows what wheel is making contact at anyone time. My biggest issue with learning trick when ice skating is that people sometimes forget to explain when the blade should still be on the ice.
It's not the friction but the magnetic field that creates the current that lights the LEDs. These wheels often come from factory that the magnet in the hub really scratches against the metal petals in the wheel, but that's not how they should work, it's just causing unnecessary friction and thus increasing rolling resistance. To fix it, you can insert a metal rod (like 10mm diameter metal drill but using the smooth cylindrical part of the drill, where there is no rifling) inside the wheel with the bearings and spacers removed - and roll the wheel on a table, while holding it by the drill and pushing the petals a bit deeper down into the wheel - this will prevent scratching and will make the wheels spin more freely, while still lightning the LEDs. There should be no friction, just a minimal air gap between the magnet and the petals. I also found that the spacers are not precisely round, so I improvised a lathe from a electric drilling machine and carefully sanded the magnetic spacers into a perfectly round shape, on a very fine sanding paper. These imperfections seem to be coming from the factory trying to cut costs, nothing else. A smallest air gap between the magnet/spacer and the metal petals inside the wheel is how they should be set up.
the small efficiency loss is nothing compared to the cool factor + safety of those wheels! Skating at nigh I get seen by everyone and kids always shout " Oh look at his wheels!"
Aaaaahhhh!!!! These wheels look awesome! Gotta get them soon before the next day light savings comes. It would be a reason to be happy about when it gets pitch black at 5pm
Top video T... I've been telling you about these wheels for ages and I'm glad you decided to do a video on them. Hopefully more and more people will use them
Tiago Inline Skater I'm sure you will be able to show me that at some point. I'll have to do you a video of the indoor night time sessions I go to and all the luminous wheels I see there. How were the red wheels? The older luminous (with the Seba logo) used white LED in all the different colours. But these new ones use coloured LEDs
One of my friends that used to hate it when i brought skates to their house now has a pair of skates. They cant really skate yet but they can at least stand up with no help now.
I got myself a set of these and switching over from Street invaders, the friction is noticeable and there seem to be some noises coming from the spacer scraping against the led contacts at some points. It might just be a bad spacer and needs replacing. Looks wise I would say 10/10 but speed wise, I would say it will be about 7/10.
ive tested them also a few days ago...first i was a bit sceptical because they didnt roll when pushed by hands but in the end i liked the grip on the streets also when wet..and the effect was awesome by night...take care. keep on the good work

I haven’t used inline skates in over 20 years. But after watching all these comparison, tutorial etc videos, I’m Pumped!!! I need to get em asap! I want to get 3/125 size skates. And additional wheels later, including these neon light wheels! Which 3/125 should I get??? I want to roll through the city here in Austin Texas at night with the lights, and during the day without the lights. I’d imagine a smaller wheel is probably better for the evenings and in a city scape. I’m looking at the power slide brand so far. But again, I’d love some feedback and suggestion from those of you with much more experience. Thanks!
Ahh LED wheels. Not sure when these came out but they are my #1 discovery for inline 2017. Sure, I just got back into it but for all my finds, this is the best one. I wish they made them in smaller sizes for aggressive skates but I think that’s a bit of wishful thinking of my part given already how small aggressive wheels are. On a personal note Tiago, every time I see the red wheels (which I find very nice as a colour), I just think “Spitfire” and sadly “Spitfire”’s road isn’t the one I will be blading.
Wow! It looks like you put a lot into this video. Really nice video! The LED wheels that I use are from China I think but they wear down quick. Maybe the luminous wheels will not wear done as quick as mine. Thanks for the video Tiago! 😎👊🏼
James Mackey City Skater Hey James! it's been a long time! to me, the Luminous wheels are almost as good as Seba's Street invaders wheels ( Very good wheels, used in competitions!) ! so very good performers! :)
yes thry are fast! but juuuust a little slower compared to the Street Invaders , but it's negligeable when we're not doing competitions :) ( ex: SkateCross, Speed Slalom etc)
I wish these came in aggressive sizes, but I know they don't because there's not quite enough room to fit the special spacer and dynamo system. Maybe one day.
At 7:10 you said "they are a little slower compared to normal wheels" I remember in 12th std. I was taught about lenz law that how a simple setup like a magnet and a copper coil can generate electricity you simply have to rotate/move the magnet in n out again n again into the coil....but the drawback is that; that the current generated in the coil will produce a magnetic 🧲 field that will make it harder to move the magnet (ie. The coil will try to resist what you're trying to do with the 🧲 ) Iam pretty sure that is what is happening in the wheels ...the rotation of wheels is using this principle and therefore the wheels(coil inside) is trying to resist what you're tryna do (ie. Moving the wheels) thereby makin 'em slower. Thats also how turbines in dams work.
@@TiagoInlineSkater yes, you should use your protections all the time. Especially when you skate in the streets. Knees and hands are particularly hurt. But you know that of course

Btw, those spacers are creating light through magnetism. So they're not really touching the wheels, rubbing on their surface. You might feel the magnetism - but the resistance forces should be ... small? Are you really feeling those that much? I bet that special spacer has a magnet on it. The wheel must have integrated coils in it so as they revolve around the magnet, they create light: czcams.com/video/-bVi1w0m8x8/video.html . Or something along the lines.
