The real difference between 4 wheels and 3 wheels is 1 wheel.

😂😂😂
Nice one😂

HAHHAHHHAHA
ok after watching this, I think I am ready for one wheel...
he has a new video out, after that youll be good to skate with just the frame. i believe in you
Haha. I just ordered my beginner stakes (with a stopper) about 3 days ago and I'm just watching this videos to help my impatience
😂😂😂😂
@@jmkaccessories u dont even need a frame to skate at this point 😂😂😂😂
You mean 8 wheels...? Bc.. More wheels = ez
Less wheels = hard
I started when I was 73 years old, now im 88 and I think im ready for 3 wheels
Are you serious?
Maybe when you grow up😂

Dam God bless 😱
I started 4 months ago. Your videos are very useful to me. I am 46 years old, I might try 3 wheels before 50, 😀
Yay! go for it!! 😁
That's fine, i started less than a year ago, i am 45
Do it 3x 100 mm in 231mm are the best for commuting and tricks 110 + 125 are more for cruising
I'm 34. I feel better now lol

Hi Tiago, I think you have forgotten one of the most important differences: the kind of floor you are going to skate on. In my opinion, triskates are much more suitable for skating on a rugged floor like streets, whereas 4 wheels are better for smooth floors because they are more stable. If you want to do urban skate on your town's streets and pavements triskates are recommended. But it's true, they are a little more difficult to handle, so you must have a little experience.
I live in a city (italy) where we don't have a street that isn't ruined or that doesen't go up and down
And we all tried triskates (we are experienced enough) but it really didn't go well. I think that it can be dangerous triskating in not-so-perfect street and cities that are not flat
@@rgb181 You're right. I hadn't taken it into account because I live in Valencia, a completely flat town. Anyway, slopes are dangerous even with 4 wheels.
@@jorgezoilorodriguezbarreir1676
Yeah, It's dangerous but we don't have the choice...when you get used to it it's very fun!
I was hesitating in saying this in the video but I decided to mention this in a next video about Wheels :)

Thanks for the simplified rundown and helping me get back into skating after a little break!
I learned on a 100mm tri skate set up and am very happy with their performance. I was doing 15mph on day 4 which was fun but not safe as I couldn't really stop.

I’ve skated for 11 years on aggressive four wheel skates, I’ve just bought a pair of tri wheel GC frames with 110mm wheels, being quite experienced when it comes to skating the tri-wheel was the best bet for me! I most definitely recommend going tri-wheel as it’s a smoother ride and a higher ride height overall!
Hi Tiago, I'm 61 yrs old, just a baby after reading UP's comment below (!)...but I just wanted to say all your advice has helped me a lot...been on my 'full rocker' 4 wheel 72/76mm Chinese copy skates just 2 days, they are not too bad...a bit tight perhaps, but I'm rolling, albeit pretty slowly, ha ha. Taking it slowly, a real beginner. I had perhaps 15 hours 20 years ago on ice skates, and so I'm starting from scratch on blades essentially. So far so good....my wheels light up (they work like a light brake) which helps moderate my speed, so looks great and keeps me sloooooow. Thanks for your content....all very professionally produced, unlike some. You are inspiring, so you achieve your goal....keep up the good work :)
There in France you have the BEST inline community! Thanks to your videos I discovered Inline and I choose my first pair of real skates (I mean, I learned to slide on my old decathlon skates, and the move destroyed them)
Thanks for the passion you put in your videos Tiago! (And for the useful tips)
Love from italy!
I started with the four-wheel skates, and I recently bought the tri skates. It's been hard to turn with them, and it was rough to do tricks with them. I am way more agile with four, but I do love the tri skates. They also make you taller and faster 🤪
oh yea i love beeing so tall xD
i haven't skated in years and I just got 3 wheeled skates and have no problem at all with stability, I love these skates.
what brand/model?
Same, I used to skit a lot as a teenager. So I went straight to 3 wheels and didnt have any issues. Muscle memory I guess
Love these videos. Went back to blading recently after five years, and I'm still shaky but loving it! There aren't many skaters where I live- it's only me, so these videos make me feel like part of a community 😊 keep doing you

Thanks for the great description! Getting back on the wheels after 20 years! Been thinking to get back for 2 years, but my partner said "More gear?". I was doubtful and stupid coz since Ice Skating last winter my passion has been burning and I should have done it earlier! cant wait, think i am headed for 3 wheels, basics are still in the bag ;) I was the skating queen back in the day!
I also learned on 4x80mm but my favorite setup nowadays is trinity 3x110 mm
Me to
my favorite is 3x100 on 231mm frame , I have tested 3x110mm 243mm frame and it was not as manuevarable as I desired . I also have 215mm frame for 3x100 wheels and that is just crazy how quickly they turn, insane (Frame is made for hockey, slalom)! But they are not as stable in high speed. All trinity frames of course.
4x80 was my beginning, one short time i had 4x76 i refused using them because they where so slow, than 4x84 4x90 (which i didnt like the high weight and the really long frame i had in the past)
Then i went for 3x110 after i found out how much easier it was to drive with 4x90 on cobblestone streets inside of our historical cities...
Very well thought out video, Tiago! In my opinion you touched most important points. Just switched to 3 wheels and it's kick ass but finding it much harder to slide than on my 4x80.
There was a vibe in this video that really reminded me of air gear. I liked it a lot!

I literally just got sent my tri-wheel skates and I’m a beginner and now I’m just wondering if I should return it or not
What did you do ? Am a beginner too and i am confused.
I think I'm gonna buy tri skates, I've been skating since I was a kid but it's been a few years now. I never learned stops or tricks but I think I can manage and learn especially since tri skates are good for rough terrain which is better. 👍
I have a 4x80mm FR1, a rockered (76,80,80,76) FR1, the FR1 3x110 tri-skate, and just lately, a Wizard NR100 setup, love them all!
you can tell this dude doesn't hesitate to tell everyone his suggestions. this guy is AWESOME!!!!
Great quick explanation. I've been blading for around 25 years and have decided to now try a TRI skate. Will research more. Thanks for explaining. 😃
Thank you, this helped with my decision to not buy three wheeled skates as I am a casual skater, I just like going faster
I spent a couple of years on a beginner pair of skates (Zetrablade 4 wheel skates), until I felt comfortable enough with my skills, and to remove the brake. I recently upgraded to a pair of FR1 310 triskates and I love them!
Great advice! Thanks for the informative videos!
I just got a pair of zeterblades. How well did they hold up?
Always a pleasure to watch your videos they make me want to go out straight after and skate.
Real informative and amazing clips. Your sense of balance is amazing man. keep up the groove !
Hi! I consider myself a mediocre skater, so I was wondering which ones would be better. I can keep my balance really well on a 4 weel of 76 mm and I also do some tricks such as step overs, going backwards, power stops and spins. I do value speed, but I wonder if you think I'll manage to keep my balance on 3 weels, preferably 110s
OMG, I needed this video ... Thanks man
you're welcome! 😁
Great vid! Im considering to start rollerblading and your vids are really helpful!
Thank you very much for this video Tiago! Congratulations from Brazil!
After this Covid-19 lockdown is lifted I've decided I'm going to buy some In-line skates for getting around my home-town. As a complete beginner this video was actully really helpful! I'm 6" and would like a bit of speed as well as maneuverability. What I've taken from this video, 4 wheels around 90mm would be the best place to start.
I used to own 4 big wheels when I was a kid. I missed skating so much T-T I need to practice again before trying a 3 wheels
After probably more than 15 years since last time I went skating (I'm 34 now), yesterday I found my inline skates at my parents house. I was surprised how quick I was back on the wheels and especially how quick the muscle memory came back again! No big problem at all, just a bit trying and adjusting, listening to what my body says, and then I found myself skating in the streets around the village here for one hour and around 15 kilometres. That was a big surprise, and a lot of fun too! 🙂
After many frames and going back and forth between tri skates and 4 wheels I’ve found my self back on 4x80 and I’m loving it.
Thanks bro! People like you and Bill Stoppard, really make me want to pick up inline skating again. I'm going to order a pair soon
i’ve been roller skating since i could walk but i’ve never heard of 2,3,5, or 6 skates before 😂
Lol me too never heard of a difference between the amount of wheels
and you are only 12?

Nice video. Good points. Great work going over the other setups Tiago!
Four wheels are definitely best for beginners in my perspective.
The Inline Guy Thank you! :)
As someone inexperienced hearing this explanation for the first time, i found this video super informative and easy to understand. Liked and subscribed. Wish me luck with my new 80s
Very insightful, well explained and illustrated! Thank you Tiago 🙏
Happy with my 4x 80mm as a beginner at the moment. But might get 3x larger mm in the future when I want to skate distances, especially for cross country skiing training!
I started 4days ago and i love it sooooo mutch i never wanr to ride my skateboard again this feels mutch more contebol but i mostely ride skatepark
Due to an accident my legs are uneven (1.7 cm difference). Skating on my 4x80mm hurts my lower back after a while due to being uneven. I was thinking about doing 3 x 110 and 3 or 4 x96-ish on the other foot.... that should get me close enough; however, I wasn't sure if that would be screwy (don't care how it looks, just care about how maneuverability will be with mixed sized wheels). Any thoughts? I wanted to try larger wheels than 80s because the streets around me are pretty rough, and I am hoping to smooth things out a bit with larger wheels.
1.7 cm doesn't sound like a lot to me, can't you just build a little bit of wood or plastic between the shoe and the frame which holds the wheels?
Just a beginner, few days on skates, but I like your reasoning. Glad I got 4 x 80's
Thanks man
Thanks man, I’m trying to figure out what skates to get as a beginner and this definitely helped me decide.
I used quads when i was 4-15 now a little older. Thinking if i should get some inlines mhmm
Totally agree that small 4 wheels setup is the best to learn basic skills, but I reckon 100-110mm Trinity 3 wheels setup has no significant difference in control, and rather better to learn correct edge control (which edge you are on).
You're right I changed from 4x90 UFS to 3x125 trinity lately, the 3 wheel setup is great in manouverability (short frame) on the middle pivot wheel. E.g. for me, trying slides is much easier on 3skates. As Ricardo Lino said few months ago, there is a big difference in the leverage with big wheels as the feet are higher above ground. After few months I still struggle with boot lacing and top buckle on my Nexts, it's never the same, sometimes very bad for handling and I get blisters and bruises from the boot after longer ride.
Second thing is inertia - 4x90 is slower at similar pace but it reacts instantly to change of pace, with 3x125 setup you have to "plan in advance" accordingly. When an uphill part comes, it's better to change pace few seconds before, otherwise it is quite hard to get the speed back. Same with starts, to get similar speed after few strides, you have to push harder. On the downhills (I do only slight slopes) with triskates I need to decelerate earlier as they keep the speed once they got fast-but I keep trying slides that slow down quickly that makes the ride generally faster ;-) But the speed is great even on that short frame...
Great video my guy! Nice moves as well. After skating for so many years on 4 wheels (and sometimes 2 at the park), I am picking up a 3x110 UFS frame setup for my current skates. Looking forward to the speed.
Hello Tiago!. Gabriel here. Huh, well, I'm looking for new skates. I like speed skating but I would like to try new things like slalom/ freestyle. The problem is that I don't want to spend in 2 pairs, so, is there a hybrid between speed skate and a slalom skate?
Those triskates from the video could be useful for what I want?
I know this was a while ago but if you are starting stuff like freestyle and slaloms then I would suggest starting with 4 wheel inline skates around 4x76 or 4x80 and then maybe if you still want to then maybe get the triskates because I know from personal experience that you can still go fast in 4 wheel skates because I have 4x76 in my blades and I can get up to around 30-35 mph on a slight hill
Hmmm, I would have like to try those 3 wheels skates, as I LOVE speed, I kinda regret not buying them right away, I did not trust them when I saw them and got myself a classic 4 * 90. I should have looked at this video FIRST... My next ones are gonna be 3 wheels for sure. It's gonna take some time to get the money though
Isn't 4x90 pretty fast as well?
@@brayvdb2191 Yes, fast enough, 4 * 90 is a good mix of speed, stability, and durability, but it's not as fast as a 3 wheels. Anyway I realized soon enough I could already reach dangerous speed with 4 * 90. So... I do not regret after all
This guy is the best I love these videos cause he is so positive and honest
Thanks dude. I’ve been off skates for about 10 yrs and I was pretty good killing hills. Fast forward I’m now 38 and have 3 kiddos and this helped me decide. Gonna stick to 4 wheels for now and then upgrade.

Well said.
Really good, wise advice from Tiago I think. Tri skates with bigger wheels (eg 110, 125) are SO much faster that 4x80 that skills such as stopping and turning are more critical. 4x80 (or smaller) are slower and more stable, hence more forgiving.
However, once you get good on 4x80 then tri skates are a really good option for street skating because of their higher speed. Less energy needed to go places, and better over bumps and uneven surfaces because of the larger wheels.
So my view is start with 4x80 then move to 3x100 or 3x110 when you are able to skate fairly well (particularly speed control and stopping)!
I'm learning on 3x100 on a trinity mount. First couple weeks were SCARY with how quickly they can pick up speed on an incline. I have to say overall I'm happy to be learning on tri's because I figure when I get a 4x80 setup later, I'll just feel all the more stable and comfortable learning more advanced things at that point.
my dream skates are triskates. Specifically the powerslide Swells. I just like how they look and how many colors they come in. However i feel like triskate wheels are going to be pricey $$$. but alot of triskates look really fashionable
Jokerr Fox The swells sure look nice! specially the new 2019 version :) this also means that the 2018 versions will be cheaper :)

This is a good video, thanks. I am a quad skater trying inlines and I went for 3x100 cause I want to traverse rough surfaces not possible (really difficult) on my 57mm quad wheels.
My biggest problem is patience I think, I feel like they don't turn easily at all compared to my quads. I think my technique is wrong, do you have any tips?
Could someone please tell me what are the skates in the thumbnail of this vid. The 4 wheels, that sleek thin boot. I'm in love😍
They are the Powerslide Hardcore Evo Trinity, they normally come with 3 wheels but I put a 4 wheeled frame on them, in a rockered setup! ✌🏼

So looking forward to this again!!
One year ago I started inlineskating on smooth and clean concrete Hockeyrinks with a 3x90mm Hockeyskate with a 215mm 3x100mm Frame. This setup is very agile and reactive for Hockey. Last week I tryed skating around town on sidewalks and cyclepaths crossing streets a lot with curbsides for the first time with my hockeyskates. The surface was uneven, rough, bumpy with debris, cobblestones and some edges and less place for maneuvers. This was a bad experience for me.
Would different skates give me a more suitable setup for skating around in the town?
If so, I have to decide between a Rollerblade Fusion84 (4x84mm, 255mm frame) or a 3x110mm hardboot setup ( for example Next110 with a 143mm frame). Which setup is better for bad surfaces? Or is there different suitable setup?
coming from Aggressive Inline skating my wheels down to the core, 4x80mm felt like i had turbos on my frames.
Like wise. By the way i love your username lol
I'm personally a Speed inline skater so I do Use 4 Large wheels but from time to time I like to us 3 wheels.
Crimson o yea yea
My 5 cents. Firstly, 3 wheels are worse for me because the taller wheels put more strain on my joints. I moved back from 3x110mm to 4x80mm coz I started to feel pain in my knees. Secondly, 4 wheels ride more smoothly on different surfaces whereas 3 wheels a more demanding on the quality of the surface. And I did not notice any speed improvement whereas the maneuvrability suffered quite a bit.
Thank you from Iceland
Those skates are beautiful mine got ruined by water and I haven't been able to skate for 3 months. I'm so sad about it. I'm trying to save to try and buy a pair.
alex perez by water??
@Derek Simmons probably bad explanation.
Mine, I'm 34. I usually take care of a lot of things and have most things from even middle school.
My middle school blades, I barely used. So they sat in closet. After a few moves and cellars, and storage etc. The screws became all rusted and such. Mixed with me never really cleaning it whenever I last used it.
Instead of fixing/replacing/repair etc..i just said something like "water ruined my skates"
Nice intro tho :D
