Jumptown is a microcosm of CIG not knowing what is fun and what players want. They have systematically removed all motivation to participate and have crushed skill ceilings. This is a game-wide issue.

It's always been the problem, "oh look rubbish will stay around!"
Don't care, when will you fix mission enemy AI?
      "hey here's a new £400 jpeg of a ship"
Do not care, when is the economy coming in
"hey here's cargo, now you're going to have to tractor shit around yourself!"
That sounds like a step backwards tbh, when are we getting new mission types, or fixes for missions we already have?
"here's fleet week, say bye to the hopes of finding a server with an fps above 4 and hi to a showroom to sell more jpegs!"
This is why people call this game a scam, there's so little forward momentum to it and it seems geared more and more to sell ships with the promise of it being a playable game in the far future

Amen, brother. CIG devs have shown that they can occasionally get something coded up and into the game. However, they have yet to demonstrate that they know how to make a game. A bunch of tech tossed together in a pot does not constitute fun gameplay.

The most baffling thing about not addressing the dupe is they wiped aEUC for 3.23 to TEST THE ECONOMIC CHANGES. IE testing the higher prices for ships and equipment vs lowered payouts. The longer the dupe exists, the more worthless the data they gather.

The econ numbers they were testing are not what we imagine as players. They wanted the econ data flowing between the same simulation servers and the replication layer. The dupe didn't have much negative effect on that. May have even added value to it. I don't like it. They should fix it. But it doesn't change the fact that the way the devs view things and the way we do are two different things and always will be. We will always be disappointed when listening to them the way we do.

I think the fact that most of your background footage was AC and Star Marine instead of PU based game play is the most telling aspect of the current situation. Multiple game loops have been rendered moot by the dupe issue.
I like to salvage panels from time to time in a Vulture but being able to sell the RMC is a gamble now and the underlying issue that allows for the dupe exploit makes the cargo grid in the ship not function properly if I do sell my first batch. It turns what was a nice relaxing alternative to other more active game play in Star Citizen to questioning whether it is worth going through all the procedures in order to play it properly or whether I should just go play some other game that provides the same sort of relaxing experience instead.

As a dedicated cargo hauler, I've noticed the increasing popularity of piracy as a gameplay feature. Surprisingly, I don’t mind it-piracy adds an exciting dimension to the game. However, there's a major concern that needs addressing: the unfair advantage pirates have when they attack traders in areas without comm stations. Currently, these attacks often go unpunished, and it's frustrating to be repeatedly ambushed by players this way and not being able to retaliate.
To enhance gameplay fairness and balance, I propose an innovative solution: equipping the Cutlass Blue with a 10-20km comm station range. This would allow traders to hire Cutlass Blue pilots for protection. The presence of a Cutlass Blue could enable traders to send out a distress signal with a single button press during an attack, providing a fair chance for assistance. This feature would add a strategic layer for both traders and pirates, where pirates would need to first disable the Cutlass Blue to prevent the distress signal from being sent.
Incorporating this idea could significantly improve the gameplay experience. Traders would feel more secure, knowing they have a viable means of calling for help, while pirates would face a more balanced challenge. If the pirates manage to disable the Cutlass Blue, the gameplay reverts to its original state, maintaining the risk and excitement of piracy.
This solution not only enhances fairness but also enriches the game’s strategic depth. It's a win-win for both cargo haulers and pirates, fostering a more engaging and dynamic in-game environment.
    What do you think?

They introduce ways to break things to “see what happens” and it ultimately works against them because the testers(backers) end up walking away for a while. And as someone who plays every patch. I do end up walking away for a good while, because it’s not what they visioned it to be as well as myself.
When everything is broken in different ways every iteration. I can’t feel like things are consistent I can’t treat it like a game. But rather a varied experience doesn’t mean anything.

    @austinm5630 Před 2 měsíci +2

Anyone remember when CIG said the reason they were building all these tools, like the river tool, was so they could produce star systems at a rate of one per month? Well they can't fix a single duplication glitch in a month. That should tell you everything you need to know about CIG's ability (or rather, lack thereof) to stick to any sort of timetable. Sure, one is writing code while the other is mostly art assets, but the point stands.
Beyond that, I'm going to pat myself on the back and say that I was absolutely right about Master Modes when I said it wouldn't make the game better. Even the usual white knights on Spectrum have mostly stopped arguing with "haters" about that one now. When J3PT and Capt. Mal - who actually defended the ROC-DS - stop fighting for you, you know you've f*cked up. CIG can and does never admit to failure, but they need to. It's going to be even more awkward than usual, since they've said SQ42 is "feature complete" and also said MM has been in SQ42 for over 2 years, so if they ditch MM in the PU they're going to have some explaining to do about SQ42. But that's exactly what they need to do. And frankly, they need to leave MM (albeit with some tweaks) in SQ42 because it actually seems like a decent - not great, but decent - flight model for a singleplayer game. It just happens to be total sh*t for a wide open PvP MMO.
Star Citizen has a lot of potential. But I fear it's never going to realize it until Chris Roberts is somehow removed from leadership and replaced with someone who can develop a master plan and then get the company to stick to that plan, two things CR has, very very obviously, never even tried to do.

CIG's business model has always been the biggest threat to their project. At this point, it actively harms development and the player experience. All of these mass exploits have exploited ship's magical respawn. Implement actual ship death, no magic respawn, no clumsy code trying to figure out what parts of a ship to respawn to exploit.

there are 2 types of player in SC:
    Those who shoot c2s
those who shoot at people shooting c2s
Every aspect of this game, in this patch, revolves around duping RMC.
You wanna pirate? go where they buy the RMC
you wanna pvp? go where people are pirating RMC buyers
you wanna trade? go buy RMC
bounty hunt players? they'll be down where the RMC is bought
Salvage? can't sell it, just go buy RMC
Mine? refinery terminals not working, better go dabble in RMC.
I think, after all these years, we've seen that CIG doesn't care what happens in a patch, not at all, even to the point where devs have come out and said "nah, i don't care about current state; it'll be fixed in future"

AND THEN JUST LEFT IT IN THE GAME?..... youd think that would be an INSANT hotfix or roll back.. literally ruins the ONLY gameplay loop there is in the game(making ueac). just cant understand what they are doing over there tbh. after the free fly i kinda lost interest, really feels like a single player game right now.

well made video and commentary. my personal oppinion:
THEY DO NOT CARE. They have no interest whatsoever in any fun and engaging actual gameplay at all. all they are interested in is making money -> selling stuff.
the sad truth - for me - is : the engine is outdated, the gameplay elements are designed by amateurs in regards to actual engaging gameplay and the overall design philosophy is looks comes first. actual game related function -> engaging gameplay loops - is all but an afterthought.
and their "test on ecomomic changes" was just to incentivize players to cash out real money because buying ships ingame takes way too long otherwise.
now that their sale is finished and they racked up their best month ever, they have no incentive to really care about anything that actually goes on the stuff they claim is still an alpha.

I personally think there should be wipes every major patch for at least money and ships. If reputation can be preserved then great, but it's not that important.
A game like Tarkov for instance has a wipe two or three times a year and you have to start from fresh each time. It actually works really well and there is far more progression there to lose.

    • @dericclark6553
      @dericclark6553 Před 2 měsíci

@@demonicsquid7217 I think there is more fun to be had with wipes.
From my perspective, CIG wants very expensive ships that you work forever (in-game) to get… which is fine but once everyone has their “end game ships”, imo it leaves everything dull.
Tarkov for example: late into wipes, everyone has the best stuff. After a wipe, you see people using the lower tier items again.
In Star Citizen right now, look at all the C2 ships flying around… imo it’s boring and stale. It would be nice to have a cycle where you see smaller cargo ships flying around because not everyone in the server has the current best in class ship.
That’s from a gameplay perspective though… and idk where the “space simulator” and “space game” line is for star citizen. I imagine they want it as realistic as possible, so your ships magically disappearing doesn’t fit in there.

i doubt that the cargo dupe bug has a quick fix, as its likely related to how they have laid the groundwork for fully physical cargo handling. So they cant back it out of the patch, they can only plug forward.
fully anticipating at least an aUEC wipe with 3.23.2 and cargo patch. would be ok with a full wipe as well at this point, as it will finally show them how weak the earning power of all the loops are when everyone just fully quits the game because its a literal waste of time to grind through bounties for 5k each when we could be out touching grass instead.

What we don't need - right now - is another JT.
What we don't need right now - and not really until they can make it work - is another attempt at the madness-defying experiment that is XT.
What we definitely don't need right now, and not ever, is Ugly Viewers.
SC has, to my untrained eye, reached the point where they're at least trying - or hoping - to attract non-Maze addled self-flagellation enjoyers to start "playing" this (ludicrous space) "game".
If that is so, then they do need to address - right now - game-breaking fuckwittery like duping. If they cannot do this via the summary execution of perpetrators, then they need to devote some dedicated resource to bug-bashing hot-fix patchy-patchy activities, alongside, but isolated from (as far as possible) ongoing development. Otherwise this tipping point will be more like a cow tipping point, and no-one needs that, especially not the space cows.
The problem, of course, and as any Liverpool supporter will attest, is that It's The Hope That Kills You. The Hope. And the invisible rocks. And the desync. And the quixotically fragile hover bikes.

Well if and when it hits that "Beta" point, the indulging of "we will get to it when we get to it" should be not BE INDULGED anymore. That's ok for patching, that's ok for building the next System to accompany a patch, that's ok for working out a game loop, or mission type or exploring a proposed feature set, BUT it's not ok for bug fixing, exploit fixing and it's deffo NOT OK when it breaks the game sufficiently badly to discourage actual player engagement. Star Citizen is on the cusp of actually being something, and if CIG are not careful, that cusp will pass it by and it will be too little too late time by the time they realize it.

My Connie is pulling in like 1-3m an hour doing ERTs. Half the Star citizen community would have you believe HRT is not even possible in the 325A and there is no money in bounty hunting at all. Its crazy reading some of these comments.

So they had to roll the hotfix back until they could fix everything.
