Great choices. I’ve got a Glenturret 12 2021 open and loved it, so I went back to get a 2nd bottle and found a maiden release 2020 a year ago. Just recently bought a 2020 Glenturret 10 peat smoked as well. Personally I would have liked to see Kilkerran on the list as well. Cheers & Happy new year.

Nice list! I just ordered a Glenturret 12yo, 2023 relese, never tried it, but I've hreard many good things about it. Another great whisky got stuck on that order, Edradour 12yo Caledonia, I'v had that one before and I thought it was time for a new one. Happy new year and keep up the good work.

Each having a different palate and approach to presentation/ content is really fast tracking my journey. Great list, Erik. If availability wasn't an issue with Springbank, I honestly don't think there would be a discussion of hype or over-hype. Springbank is unique - and undenieably of very very high quality. Any praise is well-deserved and shouldn't be mixed up with hype. Cheers mate! 🥃

Hi Erik Agree with you on the GT 12 When I bought a bottle of the 2020 maiden release I went back and bought another 12 bottles . Just coming up on my last bottle , bought a 2021 just for comparison and have to say actually that’s just as good possibly even a tiny bit better / richer . But as you say ..Great Stuff 👍
That‘s interesting. No one in Germany would have considered to put Glenturret 12yo on their Top 10-lists. I like this Glenturret 12y very much but I am not a Whiskytuber.
The best of Bowmore can only be bought at the distillery or from independent bottlers. Once you have one, you'll discover the great potential Bowmore has.... if only they'd bottle at higher ABV, NCF, natural color.
Great list but everything's close to and above $100. Glenturret is the cheapest of the bunch and it still isnt that easy to find in the northeast. And whats worse is that those special editions will never be at well known whisky bars so people are taking a risk buying expensive scotch from a secondary market without knowing how they taste. 😊
Every year I get the same comment "I can't afford that.... I can't find that" 😭 It is a list of the Top 10 whiskies I reviewed in 2023... that is the only criteria. If I did a "Top 10 Single Malts for Under $100" it would be a completely different video.
I still love their core range and talk about the 10 year old all the time BUT their committee releases over the past few years have been sadly lacking and WAY overpriced. It is clear the marketing department has taken over the decision making.
@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies I agree, but I couldn't help myself buying the committee releases as they became available, and now have forced myself to stop. Everything at Ardbeg is feeling a bit too gimmicky and as you say - marketing led. I also feel there has been a change in the taste profile of Uigeadail, (which until last year was my favourite whisky) and even the 10. I will definitely have a try of some of the more available Top 10 you have listed, especially your No. 1 - The Glenturret 12.
Oh man. Another blue balls list for 2023.. The only Glenturret that is available to me is the Triple Wood from 2022. I'll keep an eye out for any of these age stated versions.
Way to much batch variation for Glenturret 12 years. The early batches were great, but the latests are a hard pass, nothing special to rave about, better off grabbing Bunna or Edradour or GlenAllachie CS.
This is exactly what i wanted to tell him. Batch variations in quality sometimes make these rankings a little bit inadequate and incorrect. I personally had such an experience with Glen Garioch 12. First bottle i bought couple of years ago had only some core similarities with the one i purchased last month.
Never had a Springbank, prices are to high. So i dislike the love for the brand. SP 15 is like 200 Euro here in Nederland. And for me a 10 year old that is great, Edradour 10. Springbank 10 is 100 euro., Edradour is 41 euro.

Regarding the Bowmore. Try the Vault Edition No1. Its relatively cheap as far as Bowmores go and its a fantastic whisky.
Glen Turret - nice bottles. Enjoy the visit the distillery have a top class restaurant.

IMO Bowmore is the best distillery on Islay and there's plenty of stiff competition. Just a shame about the core range.

All 3 bottles from Sprinkbank received the same score (92 points) but the Hazelburn was a bigger surprise (to me) so I listed it higher.

Martin, at this moment you can find the Springbank 10 in Holland for under 70 euro's (76 USD). And i can tell you, its worth trying!👍🙂
