I totally agree with removing the nursery soil immediately after receiving a plant. I have never had any ill effects from it.

Maranta is a really easy plant especially if you have it in pon. In Sweden they are very common. I bought mine for about 4 euro for a big pot 🙈😁 Love all your plants and so glad to see you 🤗

I’ve seen the silver band before. Propagate in water or water and perlite. I’m using stratum and they are putting out new leaves. I watch @plantsbymelissa and she’s got one. She propagates all her marantas. She shows them frequently.

I live in germany where you can find the silver band in every garden center nowadays. And i definetly can recommend putting the silver band in lechuza pon i would use the xxl lechuza pon which is not as dense and every maranta fricking loves it.

The silver band is easy to propagate and I did have mine in leca but went back to soil. I found it stayed bushier in the soil.

The silver band is available, but not close to big box stores cheap yet here in the US. I killed 2 trying to get them to transition into PON. I bought one more and put it in self watering in a heavy TFF/Aroid soil mix. It's doing well.

I love the maranta silver band so much! I killed all my other marantas, but this one is thriving! She likes to sit in water though😅 which scared me, but trust the process! Such a rewarding plant❤

I actually just got my maranta silver band too! It was my wishlist plant for so long, but just last week we went skiing to Austria (from Czechia) and I found it in a grocery store for just 5 euros. My marantas love semihydro, so I just transferred it to lecuza pon and I hope it will be happy. Definitely recommend semihydro for ur maranta as well.

I need to know where I can get my wishlist stuff from in Canada!. Bringing new plants home I’ll access the soil, if it’s soaked I’ll change it right away, if it’s dry and hydrophobic, I’ll change it, if it’s fluffy and “ok” and if it’s not rootbound, I’ll let it acclimate first and re-access

Love seeing you so excited and omg what a haul! Just a heads up, pon (*in my own experience and from what I’ve seen online,* disclaimer) seems to be better than leaf for the maranta. Also they’re super easy to propagate!

I love maranta, it was my first plant. As a Canadian I’ve been on the lookout for Silver Band, never seen a full plant for sale near me
I think the heat thing is right. I saw almost no pink on my pink princess until it got root rot and I put it in my fish tank which is 80 degrees F. It grew new roots and there’s pink! Even on an older leaf that was pink but it was really faded. now it’s bright pink. And there’s no fish in the tank right now so no nutrients either. Anyways, love your videos and your new plants! That red anderson is to DIE for!

In the US this is very common… well at least in Wisconsin the maranta silver band I can never find any Hoyas only the basic ones
