I Hiked To A Super Sketchy Cave With Someone Living In It!

- Ok, so this one started off fine. I was happily hiking to a cave I had my eye on for some time here in Ogden, Utah. It's Camel Cave, but I thought it was Garner Cave..
First off, getting to the cave is sketchy. You have to climb with an old, worn-out rope. When I got to the entrance, there was definitely someone living in there. There were signs of it everywhere and I wasn't about to go in.
All in all, it was a fun adventure, but it definitely sketched me out there at the end.

If you keep a sturdy walking stick with you, and pound the ground as you go, that also helps to get snackes out of the way. They feel the vibrations, and think something big and heavy is coming. So they avoid being stepped on, and go out of your way. I learned that in my youth.
That's a good tip. I am heavy, so maybe that helps too.
Dude, announce yourself ,and come on in, bring beer, and pizza!
Maybe you should have closed the lid to prevent someone falling in.
I know. Next time.
I think so too...close it
Sometimes cavers will leave something behind to alert others that they are there. Safety stuff
Exactly bro
That's what i thought it was too. 👍
You should have Closed that latch so no one falls in, especially because someone was living in the cave.
If you go up next time, take a bag of gifts. A pack of cigs, a bottle of wine, a book, canned goods, water.
If someone is living in there you should brought a peace offering like bottled water and or canned food or roman noodles so if they saw you they know you mean them no harm . So should you come back most likely they know you are ok .
A lot of people with tons to say about you not going into the cave and being snake experts. Tim is out there just trying to make some good content for us to watch. It’s real easy to be a tough guy sitting on the couch watching a cave video from their cell phone while someone else does all the walking and grunt work.
Haha, welcome to the internet. Thanks for looking out for me.
They're called "sand hobos" and they squat on public land. There are several places in the Californian Mojave desert where sand hobos can be found off the beaten path and now you know the rest of the story
Here in the South West of England, U.K. we have a lot of venomous Vipers, (also known as Adders) , sometimes the path is covered with them & on the narrow parts of the coastal path it can be impossible to avoid them. Some people recommend using a walking pole & tapping it on the ground as you move along so the vipers hear you coming & can leave the path, but sometimes when it is hot they cannot be bothered!
I took scouts there many years ago looking for a few of the mines above Ogden. A couple boys scrambled up to this cave before there was any rope, they said it didn’t go very far back. I’ll have to check it out someday, maybe bring my friend Walther with me, or Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson, just in case some crackhead doesn’t like me. Or snacks and water to share and make a new friend.😅
That's what I heard too, but I didn't get too close. I probably overreacted.
Garner Cave is further north and is a little longer of a hike. You also have to climb a rope system to access Garner Cave. Also be careful up that canyon, I had a run in with a mountain lion up there years back. I’ll definitely have to go check out Camel Cave!
Yeah, I am going to go back this Spring. I hear it doesn't go back very far. I hit up Garner Cave in a later video. Thanks for watching. Mountain Lions and Rattle Snakes always hang out in the back of my mind when I am out and about.
You take good care out there.
All the way up there and you didn't even go in, so disappointing.
Kind of Sad I hiked and climbed all over that area, the graffiti is not good. Love the videos 📹 brings back all good memories of Ogden.
" Wish you had flown the drone up to the entrance for a quick peek inside " Have a great day brother and stay safe 👍🇺🇸
Rattlesnake is excellent over a fire with a Cajun rub!!!
Yea Garner's cave is more north up Garner's canyon. Been up both and both are fun
Ammon A Cave just watched your videos. You’re braver than I
@@tim_sessions hey thanks, it's just a hobby really
It's nice to get out & about. Explore a bit & look at the plants, rocks, sky etc. Get some fresh air. Helps to find peace of mind.
Good video. Good background music.
Cicada can some times sound similar to rattlesnakes depending where you are , I grew up in southern California and people all the time thought cicada were rattlesnakes . Where I grew up in my teen years was considered the sticks (very rural) so coming across snakes of all types was nothing unusual , I've seen many rattlers including a somewhat rare one , A Red Rattlesnake , I like snakes and when I saw that Red Rattler I was stunned probably the most beautiful snake I ever saw in the wild .
Nice View as WELL!!
America has you paranoid! I’m going to venture that whoever was willing to live up there was someone you would have had a very interesting conversation with and ultimately called a friend.
@Mark Faulkner Ah yes, it's called a schizophrenic.
America different tho, yeah could have been a chill hiker, or also a off grid tweaker 😳
Out of all the times I hiked up on that mountain when I was a kid I never saw a rattler up there! And I hiked hundreds, and know I side by side up on these mountains and I finally saw 1 rattler up on Monte cristo
Same. I think I must scare them away. Been hiking these foothills forever. Just a Great Basin gopher snake once in a while. My wife always freaks out, “Aren’t you afraid of rattlesnakes?!”
No. No I’m not. 😅
I live right across the street from camel cave it's not sketchy at all that hole he showed goes back about 20 feet and that's it
is it kenny veach living in there:O
😂😂😂😂😂 when city folks accidentally leave the city, holy fuck ...🤣🤣
Sounds like a clue as to what happened to kenny Veach.
Wouldn't that be something?
Amazing! See you on NEXT ONE
I watched this because last time I was in Ogden (where my dad grew up) he mentioned this cave had petroglyphs. He also said that they used dynamite to seal it off because it was so dangerous, and he had to repel to get to it because it was safer than climbing.
The rocks along the trail might have archaeological significance. They might also be contemporary. I don’t know a lot about the natives that lived in Ogden or their culture-namely, if they were sedentary and had buildings. But it’s a common practice to not make sites conspicuous to help prevent vandalism.
Beautiful Hike!!
Thanks for the views much appreciated.
Camels cave. The other cave is more north up Garner canyon.
boy that is dangerous.....think it is cool you get out and enjoy hiking
Before moving to utah, 40 + years ago. I was fully warned about rattle snakes 🐍 and scorpions 🦂. In that 40 + years. Never seen a scorpion 🦂 outside an aquarium. Seen 1 rattler, and heard 1. Walking through river bottom. Sounded big, heard it, backed up looking around about 5 steps, exit stage right.
Rattlesnakes hibernate in winter and in the summer they are really only active at dawn and dusk. They also don't like to go above 9,000ft. So depending where you are you may never see one, even if they live in your state. Scorpions are nocturnal so unless you are doing lots of night hiking you won't find them unless you go looking for them. (turning over rocks and such)
Nobody warned you about the Mormon snakes? They never sit still.
I’ve always called it camel cave. Bummer someone’s living in it though
Hombre_de_Utah yep! Turns out it isn’t Garner Cave
That cave was dope af somebody needs to make a video of going inside and exploring!
That cave is probably the cheapest rent around .
That’s literally my back yard
Pretty backyard!
I doubt it that it was a bandits cave, probably a hermits cave
Maybe set up a game cam to see who is going in and out?
Or just go to the entrance and say “hello”
You should of closed the lid to that canal
Me and my family have always hiked up to that spot but we were never able to get into the cave because my siblings were too young to climb it
I would have totally gone in, because I have knives. Someone might have needed help or was missing. Always carry a weapon with you when you're out exploring.
@jannis joplin Good info.
@@talaverajr391 Him : Takes out M14
Wow you have knives…. 🥱
"Knives" ooh brave warrior !😅🤣😂🤣😅
Y'all are confused by Hollywood. A knife is definitely the weapon of choice in a close quarters cave. Especially because of you shoot you could cause a collapse and get buried. So yeah, knife is the best bet there. Carry a gun too, but don't use it underground where it'll blow your eardrums at the very least
The camera up close made it look huge. But from farther back it's not that steep of a climb. You hiking there is not the same as me hiking there. Tried get a buddy go hiking with, he said just Google the mountain it's the same thing. Lol
Maybe someone built a gold sluice with the rocks on the “path”.
That cliff scale was crazy
Looks like someone left that stuff for you to not enter the cave. I highly doubt anyone lives there because how would they get drinking water and food, supplies etc? Go back or fly a drone in you'll see.
Home of the sundowners
thanks for the tips, weirdly I had not heard the were hard of hearing. All info helps if I remember it lol.
I knew them mountains as soon as I seen um
So sad to see graffiti. But cool video. Thanks for sharing.
Might be Kenny Veach in the cave , People are still worried about him .
I used to rip that place up with me n me buddies on our motorcycles
Guys like you & your buddies are the reason so many public lands get closed to normal people.
Good job
What’s about Sasquatch there?
I was sleeping 😌 in the cave with a beer hang over 2 tall 6 packs. U missed out on some free beer and a view
That is quarts? Oh man we used to find crystals all the time in Arkansas in the Ozarks when I lived there.
No guts, no glory!
Amen... I learned from this video.
Glad you made it down! Ogden it so weird with all the strange people. Some are Great people...others..need help. there is a cave ...up at one of the campsites...ill have to double-check and get back to you on it. it has a chimney! well have fun and stay cool!
There is a cave in the South Fork campground. It's pretty neat.
Can you email the deets on this cave? I'd love to explore it. info@thisisogden.com
Loved your video a lot but disappointed that you didn’t go in the cave - but I understand your reasoning. Who the heck is this Kenny Veach that ppl keep mentioning?
A missing youtuber from 2014 who mysteriously disappeared, a seasoned hiker with lots of experience. Looking for an M shaped cave. You should search kenny veach and watch his videos. Then you will be hooked on finding him like the rest of us.
@@Hawkeye_360 thank you for information - I sure will search his videos
He is/was an aspiring CZcams loser from Lost Vegas, obviously insecure & attention starved risk taker who finally got more than his 15 minutes of fame by turning himself into an urban myth, Check out his small YT channel, the episode where he is trying to sell/pimp out his house, with a bonus of himself included in the house sale for the lucky buyer. Posing as a houseboy, cook, submissive slave, interior decorator and landscaper..A Very strange selfie -boy indeed.
Could have called out and said hello.
I would have said HELLO any body home? Might have met a pretty neat person with some cool stories
Why didn't you close the hatch so no animals or person falls into it at night???
Whoa! How sketchy bro! Good thing you didn’t go in! It was way too sketchy! Holy crap! I don’t know how a hole in a wall could get more sketchy! Sketch brah! Hope you’re safe. Lol
No worries! He was wearing his sketch bra.
@@MGreen-vz6yb I was thinking….a gloryhole is waaayyyy more sketchy than this hole! Wonder what side of the wall he’s on lol!
I would be collecting the stones for sure.
I don't think they are home or hiding inside somewhere, also I could not hear a word you were saying
It's even weird that you're whispering man
Is this near the ogden bike park? I was recently searching for deer antler sheds and I came across in my binoculars a cave that looked just like that, and when I was walking to it to check it out I came across a little fortress that someone had been living in. This little fortress was like maybe a quarter mile from that cave... it had all sorts of clothes and stuff.... spooky!
Playing on doing this today any tips?
Just be super careful on the ropes. They're old and worn.
Why. Didn't. You yell out?
So many scared people now adays
I am sorry but that is a horrible path, I would have put the rocks on the outside of the path and only flat ones on the path or even none. It was so bumpy that using it looks dangerous on the feet.
How Long!! Have Some one Living in It??
Any tips? Going up this weekend 🤪
Have fun! And be careful with the nasty rope.
Being how hot you keep saying it is that is why they are in the caves where it is cooler, I would be too. Used to love exploring in Arkansas in all the caves, we even came across bats with frozen feet to the top of the cave and not so high above our heads. That was first for me, but I am a big cave dweller myself
Tim did you ask what his name was
When the whispering started, you lost me.
What can I say, I am a little nervous.
Was that clean water that the lid was open too? If so then they opened it so they could use that water i bet.
It’s a covered canal. The dirt road he was walking is called canal road. I’m sure it’s clean enough to filter or bath in, but I wouldn’t drink it straight from that hatch.
lmao the "don't die n****" graffiti next to the rope is hella funny
Watch out for those One Eyed Copper Head Rattle Moccasin Snakes. If they bite you its all over.
I know about you but if I was in that cave you be freaking me out All that whispering is weird!
Sorry about that.
dam what a let down
I know, right?
Dirty Mike &the Boys party spot;)
Drunk Taggers in the wilderness 1000 yards from town.
I didn’t have a mountain to try it at home 🏡
Kenny veach.
Cool beans
Way cool beans
I would rather hike in cooler weather
No Brains, No headaches, as they used to say.
Have you ever been to the altar up 27th?
Parnelius um... no?! Do you know the story behind it?
@@tim_sessions Not sure when they were built l, but apparently there is several of them around the foothills. Last time I went to the 27th one was around a year ago, it was pretty thrashed so I'm not sure if it survived the vandals in the past year. Really neat though, beautiful sunset views from it
I found big daws tv’s little brother
Kenny?
Could you imagine?
A snake can strike at the most 1/2 its body length, not its full body length.
I disagree! I witness a diamondback go airborne.
It's that cave man from tv.
Lol
You can throw a body in that water and never be caught
😬
Well, if there's ever a body found there, authorities will know who to talk to first now, huh?
Under rated
dude state park
That was one of those lizards called lizards
Bring 1911
What he doesn't go inside thumbs down for me bro
A rattlesnake and Strike from one-third to one-half its body length, his information is incorrect and couldn't he just rode a mountain bike up to that cave?
What you called quartz river rock fused into the gray matrix is called a Conglomerate. Why you did'nt close that opensteel door over the cement aquaduct is beyond me,, a drunk idiot, a dog, kid and even wild life could easily fall into that fast moving water trap, Judging by all the graffitti on the rocks that place is well traveled & that steel door should be padlocked being so close to the urban city sprawl of neighborhoods just below. No suprize someone is camping, living or staying in that shaft/ cave being so close to a city, The water hatch below is likely the persons water source, Again only a mindless camper, hiker or homeless person would leave the hatch open, Summer heat does have a way of impairing peoples judgements & making bad decisions. like walking or hiking uphill in the mid day summer sun. All those stones set flat in the path that looked like pavers are likely the effort of an ambitious mormon miner to keep erosion down or maybe ease the struggle with wheelbarrow going up and down that hill.. Mormons are known for being industrious workaholics, to say the least.
Thanks for all the info. If I could go back and close it, I would. Dumb on my part, but it's been a few years since I shot this video and luckily there were no accidents there. Lesson learned.
Chicken
Well that was 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back I mean you went all the way up there you should have gone in I personally wanted to see what the cave look like
Sorry man, didn’t mean to mislead you. Should have skipped to the end, but I’m glad you didn’t...
@@tim_sessions well I usually watch the whole videos I don't like to skip to the end because there might be something related to the video that's important that I miss I don't like that and I just wish you would have gone in the cave it is public property and the person probably wasn't there because he probably would have heard you coming and came out to check so you would have known he was there but that's just me I'm curious like that
@@michealcorbin6095 or maybe he was hiding with his back to the wall with a knife ready to get tim by the neck and eat his face....or maybe not but why risk? lol
what if its kenny veach :O
Could you imagine? It's not M shaped.
@@tim_sessions most people think he made the m cave up to fake his disappearance knowing they would stop looking after 2-3days and he would go live off grid which is quite likely as he hasnt been found
So many Keeney Veach obsessed idiots on most every desert cave Vlog.
