Hermès H08: An Inspired Sporty Collection

  • In the video of the day, we come back on the recent launch of a new collection by Hermès called H08. This is a sporty line though there are no chronographs, but these watches have for sure their very own identity and can’t be mistaken with any other. In a few words, their shape-in-a-shape design underlines this, but it goes a bit beyond with for instance a special font developed for the occasion.
    They are all made out of light material, either titanium or composite case, and inside you will find the automatic calibre H1837 produced by Vaucher Manufacture, a company Hermès is also a direct shareholder.
    I personally believe that this new collection will be a frank success for them, a good product at a good price, but only the future will tell us that!
    All the very best and a HUGE Viva Watchmaking to you,
    Marc André & Team

    It must be incredibly difficult to design a watch that has it's own identity but I think Hermes have nailed it with this piece. It looks classic with a modern flair and I think it will age and evolve very well. Thanks for the upload- fantastic. VIVA ORIGINALITY!

    I think they designed a winner in this watch. It’s great looking in square/round and not chunky like a Bell & Ross. A bit more dressy than a Rolex Explorer and yet perfectly suited from the Board room to the golf course. A practical solution for what many see as a high fashion brand, the H08 will fit right in with the traditional big boys in the game and may come out ahead given the waiting lists from some of the other players.

    I really love that traditional luxury brands like Hermès and Bulgari that were more into fashion and jewelery during the last decades really care about TRUE watchmaking in the last couple of years and not only putting their names on a random watch. I really like their H08 and looking forward to get one! Thanks for the great report, MAD!

      @@user-zl2sc3bg3g Thanks a lot! Absolutely. But I really think their image amongst the big watchmakers will slowly improve if they countinue doing good things like the H08! At least they certainly will take bigger bites from the customer cake in the future so to speak 😉

    Excellent watch. Beautiful dial and hands. The numeral font is perfect... but then they dropped the ball on the band. The material is nice but the exposed buckle should be the signature "H" in a hidden clasp. Just my opinion. I take issue with a lot of companies' band choices.

    @lexidium8278 Před 3 lety +1

    Mark is great, as usual, in showing us stuff we might not otherwise see. The watch is nice enough but vastly overpriced: We pay for names though, don't we? It has a rubber strap (how expensive can that be) and hardly an in house movement - made by Fleurier - which is really a replacement for the ETA 2892. It looks nice and I'd like one - if it was about 1/7th of the price!

    • @user-zl2sc3bg3g
      @user-zl2sc3bg3g  Před 3 lety +3

      Thanks a lot for sharing this with us and of course I don't totally agree ;) You can buy a Greubel Forsey with rubber strap or think of Richard Mille watches, so I would say that the strap is not really a differentiator and in my opinion these Vaucher movements can't be compared to a 2892 either. The super best to you and have a great weekend 👍

    Forgive me, but I still can’t figure out who this watch is fir? Who would have that much money decide they want a nice mechanical watch and thinks; “Hermes”! Same with Louis Vuitton Tambour (a great looking watch....but Louis Vuitton?!) and, tragically, with Montblanc. Idle, uninformed rich comes to mind?

    • @user-zl2sc3bg3g
      @user-zl2sc3bg3g  Před 3 lety

      I understand your point of view unfortunately and I say this because the watches you mention are nonetheless very interesting ones. Ok, not all Montblanc fall into this, but I get the general idea and only time can have an impact on the perception of these brands in terms of what they are bringing on the table. It is Bell and Ross without screws. It looks cheap. It could be mistaken for one of those useless 'smart' watches. Its design has Bauhaus language which is most un-French. Hard pass.
