Caribbean Cruise Vacation Day 5 Belize City

- Day 5 of our cruise on the Norwegian Pearl took us to Belize City Belize. We did not do a shore excursion, just went into the port and hung out a bit and had some lunch.
I did enjoy the tinder boat rides to and from the ship. The locals were friendly and we enjoyed our seafood lunch.
We did the carnival cruise to Roatan, Belize, and Cozumel. Got lost walking around Belize City, ended up paying a guy to take us back to the port. Next day, rented a Jeep in Cozumel and got pulled over 3 miles outside of town... I can’t wait to go back!

Thanks Russ! It's a fun vacation, that's actually pretty affordable. Great way to see some new places all at once. We enjoyed the relaxation by the pool, and in the hot tub!

My wife and I were married on a cruise ship in the early 90's. At one of our ports of call, we DID venture into the city via a local taxi. The taxi was a 80's model Ford station wagon. You wanna talk about a sketchy day. I was never so glad to get back on the ship .I'm the adventurous type, but even that was too sketchy for me.
Enjoyed the video Adam. Watching you two enjoying the vacation cruise made me think of my wife and our cruise/marriage.

Wow! Cruise Ships dock very far in Belize City that even if you are able to see the ship out in the distance, you’ll barely be able to see the ship in the distance because the Cruise Ships must dock like several miles off shore and Belize City is a tender port. Nice video though.

I have to admit I kinda chuckled when you mentioned not going into Belize City because it was too sketchy. I assume you meant because of crime or whatever, and if so, that was my first thought when you first mentioned this trip and I saw Honduras and Belize on the places to visit list. I thought, "those sound like some sketchy places". Regardless, those are some absolutely beautiful views! No way I'd do a cruise, but it looks like you had some very nice scenery. Thanks for sharing man!
Thanks for the video. I am hesitant to venture out on the island as well. Looked at a few excursions, but didn't know if it would be worth it. Me and my husband may do the same stay at the port have lunch and try local beer and/or rum and head back to the boat. The tender boat will be the most adventurous thing for us at the Belize port...lol
Nice Adam, That looked like fun. I would have felt a bit concerned seeing that mud kicking up from the bottom😲. Guess all you can do is hope that the captain knows what he/she is doing. Wouldn't want to end up like that one ship that ended up on on it's side.

Thanks for sharing. We took a tour of the island of belize before and enjoyed it. We went on our own hired a local tour guide that took really good care of us.No problems at all. Have a great day!!! God Bless

Really? Tickets to tender to the port? How much was that. Have never had to have a tender ticket but have not stopped in Belize b4

It's too shallow for the ships to get into. I didn't see any ports built for ships either.

A ship is nothing but a small floating city except no roads.
It is, but it's all about having fun and enjoying yourself. No work, no schedule!

Me and my wife had a bad experience in Belize ourselves.
We didn't have a bad experience. It's not recommended to venture off on your own without it being booked through the cruise line.
Why is it sketchy?
That's a nice way to say rough city with a lot of crime. If you're careful it's worth a look around. My family owned some beautiful beach front property on Abergis Cay so I've been through Belize City often but have only spent one or two full days/nights there. I have never been on a cruise to Belize so I don't know what they tell you on the ship about Belize City but obviously someone told them something about being careful there.
You totally missed going to the ruins and meeting the people. Belize is great because it is an English speaking country. 😑
