Built this in survival and I have some input that I'd say is pretty important to note. Pretty good design and video but theres one glaring flaw: the lava kills most of the guardians and destroys their loot, making you recieve way less xp and items than you potentially could. Maybe using fall damage (if guardians even take fall damage) would be smarter. Or maybe just place the lava a couple of blocks lower so the guardians don't spend quite as much time in it.
Also, you need to make sure that the water that fills the space of the initial 2x2 platform in the middle is also turned into source blocks after you remove the platform. Otherwise all the guardians will get stuck there and not get sent up the elevator. This was an absolute pain to do after I already placed down the soul sand, so remember to do that before you place all that. Had to swim inside the monument and locate the centre and remove the soul sand to do it.
tl;dr lava bad and turn center platform into water sources before you place soul sand.
I'm having the same issue with the lava (and had the same issue with the bubble column) and was wondering if I was alone and messed up something. I might move the signs up one block so the lava doesn't kill them.
Edit: Moving them up wouldnt even do anything since they can get stuck at the top but some slide right down. No clue how to get that fixed so I guess you have to take the losses, it still works pretty well
yes, guardians do take fall damage, and after 1.17 I think that's pretty practical because that pointed dripstone placed on the ground doubles the fall damage, so you only need to make them fall for 17 blocks to make them ok 1 heart
Thanks for the heads up. I've adapted this with the platforms at y = 193, y = 160 and 7 = 155 and it gets the guardians down to one heart on fall damage alone - no need for lava or pointed dripstone. Works perfectly :)

making the kelp all the way to the top using four kelp is not really needed.
you can just use 2 kelp on opposite sides. (diagonally in case it wasn't clear)

3 Tips to add to this in 1.20.2 (Version i made this in)
1. Remove the 4 pillars around the fence gates, just replace them with fence gates or air, more guardians get in that way
2. Remove the lava on the top or place it lower so they dont die inside the lava and the loot gets burned
3.Make sure you replace the 2x2 dirt platform at the bottom of the shaft with water, its a pain to do it while the guardians r spawning

For anyone who has this problem as well, if the guardians don't go up the middle tube after finishing the farm, make sure the water blocks by the BOTTOM fence gates are source blocks, otherwise the bubble column won't continue. Great tutorial!
What's the fix for this if it happens?
@@radicalEd I think the only solution is to remove the 4 Soul Sand in the middle of the Glass Funnel, then build up until you're at the height where the temporary dirt layer was before. When there, place water while holding down shift at every block at that height. Then remove the block below, and place water where you removed the block, repeating this process until you hit the soul sand level again. There place the soul sand again.
Would highly recommend to use Invisible potions while doing it and place the soul sand wisely so you dont get pushed upwards every time :D
Couple worthwhile notes I've had when building cubfan's guardian farm:
Invisible, water breathing and night vision potions are a MUST when dealing with guardians
It may be beneficial to use ice instead of the dirt as temporary blocks as sometimes the source blocks may be cut off and ice blocks make source blocks after broken (makes soul sand elevators work)
Raw fish can be traded with fisherman villagers, cooked fish cannot, if you're into that sort of thing
That should be it. This is a much simpler design than the one I made from cubfan.
The Potions arent a Must, I didnt use them in my Hardcore world

I feel absolutely no sympathy for the 1000s of Guardian that have burned to death in my farm so far as a result lol

First of all thank you very much for your tutorial! It is very well explained. Before your tutorial, I watched 2 other tutorials from other channels where I spent more than 12 hours there because since it didn't work, I had to destroy everything....
Since I play on a multiplayer server I had to modify the height of the AFK platforms.
For kill chamber Y152 and chests Y145. The maximum height is Y162.
I also reduced the lava level because 8 out of 10 guardians would die in the lava. So I reassembled the sign at the bottom, so that it is only one block of lava instead of 3 and it's impeccable!!! Thanks again for your tutorial!
This is a very clever design! It's working beautifully. I put off building a guardian farm for awhile because I thought I would have to clear out ocean in a monument.

@@yessir7315 is your tick speed normal? (3) cause that can affect how often it takes damage from the lava. worst case scenario, take the lava out of it and just manually kill them from full health

Thank you so much for this tutorial. i build one and it works well. the only problem i had is the water does not dash mobs to the tower, and i found the lower ground temporory block (the dirt block we plant kelp) is not water source so i have to get into middle and use water bucket to make that block into water source, and it works perfectly. This took a lot longer to build because i had to farm the guardians for those prismarine blocks. Now the tower is made from dead guardians matching the monument and will further aid in eliminating future guardians. Thanks for sharing!
I did something similar as I built a wall around the monument so that I could disassemble the sand wall that I built previously

When you are placing water in a line you should try placing it every other block and then refill the bucket from the middle because it will become an infinite water source. I have always found this to be faster. Great tutorial!

to anyone having the trouble of the guardian not going up the water chute make sure theres bubble in the water chute as well. use kelp from the soul sand up into the water chute. if theres bubbles in the chute its working now. i think this happens when the dirt was broken
I just want to tell you that I saw one of your earlier guardian farm vid and it was same but with nether portal and I couldn't use the nether portals so I did the same idea you are doing in this vid and couldn't get it right.

Draining the rest of the perimeter (not the entire monument, just the part in the spawning sphere that is not farm and putting an opaque roof on top of the funneling area/spawn space will improve the farm, and you could add a layer of leaves around it to encourage pack spawning. I tested a little and it seems to do quite a bit, estimating an improvement of about 15-20%.

@@sussy_baka_among_us the roof will indeed help as guardians are more likely to spawn under an opaque block. The leaves around it only help if you drain the rest of the monument, which is a lot of effort but will improve the rates a lot even without the 'skirt' of leaves

Is it possible to add hoppers to the bottom of the chests to make an AFK fish cooker also, maybe powered by a kelp farm or something? Love the vids!
Guardians that die to fire damage, and in AFK version with campfire they do die from fire, will drop cooked fish. No need for a cooker :)

As others have said: just put the signs below lava one block higher, so there’s one less block of lava for guardians to fall through.

What is the purpose of the hopper minecarts? I'm familiar with their properties, but I don't see how they are providing any benefit over regular hoppers in this build.
They pickup and deposit items quicker than hoppers (Ik ur comment was 8 months ago lol)
In 1.19.2 they wouldn't spawn that far away so I built mine up to Y 145 for the collection platform and Y 150 for the kill chamber. It seems to work.

Honestly, you can get the materials to enderman farm way easier, and yes, they have a video on that too.

Huge thanks! In 1.19 it works. If the guardians are stuck at the bottom just add Kelp from the bottom of the tube (from the Soul Sand) and it will work.
Also made the lava one block less since a lot of guardians died in it.

Edit 2: If guardians arent spawning when youre at the top (especially in multiplayer/smp) try going a bit lower, i went to y143 and guardians are now spawning
Edit 3: oh yea also remove the four pillars around the fence gates as they might get stuck on them

Well looks like endedman xp farm still undefeated
Guardians drop 2x the exp than endermen so with the right farm, guardians are better for exp.

@@glitchy938 With his own farm we can get from lvl 0-30 in around 30 seconds but with the guardian xp it takes him more than 2 minutes so idk but i’ll stay on the enderman for now i think

All guardians are at the bottom of the tube and won't swim up?!? How to fix this? Looks like they won't go through the fence gates
Maybe you figured it out by now but in case you didn't: the water in the middle needs to be turned into source blocks after you remove the middle platform. They will get stuck there if not all the water in the pillar is source.
@@MegaPhester I did that with kelp blocks but couldn't get it working I now have drained the entire thing and built multiple farms in this new base. I'm actually kinda proud how it turned out. But thanks for the reply dude
