I am NOT particularly artistic and have recently started to try my hand at some pencil sketching and watercolors for fun. One thing I am really noticing about art is the patience it takes to do something well. I marvel at the close attention you pay to light and shadow and the patience it takes to replicate it on the page. I am realizing that more than technique, I need to work on mindset! I used to sketch and draw constantly when I was growing up and eventually, I went to a high school for the arts. Unfortunately, I suffered two back to back bouts of meningitis over the summer of 2019 and those “fires” burned away a great deal of my memory and skills. Although I regained most of my memory, regaining some of my artistic skills is an ongoing struggle. Tutorials like yours are extremely helpful because they remind me of what I used to be able to recall instantaneously, allowing me to regain my skills at an accelerated rate instead of starting over from nothing. @@markhouse8645are you only using an HB pencil because he is using multiple pencils to get it “dark” or ‘light”

I think I need to break out my pencils again. I find understanding and identifying values very difficult and scared to go dark. Maybe a video to help with that. Water blows my mind as it can't deal with transparency being so dark.
