The difference between a Lydian scale and a basic, run-of-the-mill major scale is the raised fourth note. In case of A Lydian it would be an A Major scale, ABC#DEF#G#A with the fourth note "D" raised to "D#". It has a haunting almost maudlin sound. Enjoy!

Nice explanation and graphics, always very helpful. Like Bruce suggested, I'd love to hear where I might play the Lydian scale. Seems like a sharp 4 chord in an A progression would be unusual. Maybe in the relative minor?
